NOONAN: Trump is on track to become the BIGGEST primary vote-getter in GOP history

...Mr. Trump’s appeal is simple: What Trump supporters believe, what they perceive as they watch him, is that he is on America’s side.

And that comes as a great relief to them, because they believe that for 16 years Presidents Bush and Obama were largely about ideologies. They seemed not so much on America’s side as on the side of abstract notions about justice and the needs of the world. Mr. Obama’s ideological notions are leftist, and indeed he is a hero of the international left. He is about international climate-change agreements, and leftist views of gender, race and income equality. Mr. Bush’s White House was driven by a different ideology—neoconservatism, democratizing, nation building, defeating evil in the world, privatizing Social Security.

But it was all ideology.

Then Mr. Trump comes and in his statements radiate the idea that he’s not at all interested in ideology, only in making America great again—through border security and tough trade policy, etc. He’s saying he’s on America’s side, period.

And because people are so happy to hear this after 16 years, because it seems right to them, they give him a pass on his lack of experience in elective office and the daily realities of national politics. They accept him even though he is a casino developer and brander who became famous on reality TV.

They forgive it all. Not only because they’re tired of bad policy but because they’re tired of ideology....

Tehran resident Sousan Heidari has stopped letting her headscarf slip casually down over her neck and shoulders while driving in the Iranian capital. These days, the 22-year-old with a taste for bold makeup makes sure to pull it tightly over her dark hair, fearful of running afoul of a newly established undercover division of the morality police.

Nate Silver: It’s Trump’s Nomination To Lose*

Tuesday night went about as well as possible for Donald Trump.

Two weeks ago, after a rough stretch of states for Trump, we issued a series of delegate projections that included something called a “path-to-1,237” projection, a set of targets that would allow Trump to clinch a delegate majority without having to rely on uncommitted delegates. With Trump’s terrific results in New York last week and even better ones in the five states that voted on Tuesday, Trump is running a little ahead of that path.

Based on provisional results, 1 it looks as though Trump will sweep every pledged delegate in Maryland (as a result of winning every congressional district), Connecticut (as a result of winning every congressional district and getting more than 50 percent of the vote statewide), Pennsylvania (where statewide delegates are awarded winner-take-all) and Delaware (ditto), along with 11 of 19 delegates in Rhode Island (which is highly proportional). Combined with the New York results, 2 that gives Trump 200 delegates since we issued the path-to-1,237 projections, five delegates ahead of his original targets.

USAID Worker and LGBT Editor Latest Victim in Islamist Assassinations

The crime came just two days after an ISIS-claimed attack on a professor, Rezaul Karim Siddique, who was hacked to death while waiting for a bus in Rajshahi. "ISIS fighters assassinated a university professor for calling to atheism in the city of Rajshahi in Bangladesh," said a statement from ISIS' Amaq News Agency. It wasn't clear what would have made them lash out at the English professor, who by accounts of those close to him wasn't political or atheistic but simply active in cultural events and music.

California Candidates for US Senate meet for first debate

Democratic state Attorney General Kamala Harris touted the gun control policies she has backed as attorney general. She says she would renew the assault weapons ban, support reasonable database checks and would try to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. She says she doesn't like the binary labels of pro-Second Amendment or anti-gun.

Tom Del Beccaro took on Harris, saying taking guns away from law-abiding citizens isn't the answer. He also attacked her for supporting the sanctuary cities movement that allows people in the country illegally to avoid deportation.

“Stop calling yourself a ‘women entrepreneur’.”

...Here’s the reality: Your chromosomes have nothing to do with your ability to be successful as an entrepreneur.

I have never once thought of myself as a woman entrepreneur, a women investor, a women author or a woman anything. I am an entrepreneur or any of the other roles that I play, period -- without any qualifiers. And, as I told each woman that asked the question, so are they.

The constant segmentation of everyone by gender, race, age or other qualifier beyond their control does nothing but create self-doubt from those who have been categorized as well as others around them. Those things are out of each individual’s control and frankly have zero to do with determining their success. Preparedness, drive, perseverance, ability to learn from failure, ability to pivot, ability to delegate and a bunch of other qualities do determine success -- but labels do not.

The only difference between a male and a female entrepreneur is that the women are more likely to be doing business in an uncomfortable pair of shoes until the time when someone creates comfortable high heels, but that’s really a personal choice, too.... Read more, at the link.

Awesome Cruz rally in Terre Haute, #Indiana!

Once again, Senator Ted Cruz blew Donald Trump’s amateurish operation out of the water on Saturday, crushing the Donald in a near-total victory. At stake: who is sent to the convention as a delegate. Those elected to represent are in almost all cases only bound to vote for the primary or caucus winner on the first ballot. After that they can pretty much do what they please. So sending loyal supporters as delegates is an essential part of the nominating process. There were 94 delegates up for grabs on Saturday, and Cruz went for the jugular....

f you’ve kept count, then you know this means that Cruz loyalists filled a whopping 65 of the 94 spots available on Saturday. And that’s not knowing who, for example, Kentucky delegates may lean toward for their own second ballot choice. So he may have picked up even more than that.

In all, a humiliating defeat for team Trump, and yet more proof of the Cruz campaigns superior ability to operate the machinery of the party, follow and understand rules and procedures, and generally be an organized and functional enterprise. In the business world that’s called being a success....
