‘Millions of Iraqi Women Live in Fear,’ Says Miss Iraq After Her Family Is Forced to Leave Over Photo With Miss Israel

Miss Iraq Sarah Idan responded on Thursday to the recent revelation that her family was forced to leave her country after she took a photograph with her Israeli counterpart at last month’s Miss Universe pageant.

“I’m not the first nor the last person to face prosecution over a matter of personal freedom. Millions of Iraqi women live in fear,” Idan, who has described herself as a “hardcore feminist,” wrote on Twitter along with the hashtag “freeiraqiwomen.”

The spiral of events began with Idan posting a selfie with Miss Israel Adar Gandelsman on Instagram in November along with the caption, “Peace and Love from Miss Iraq and Miss Israel.”

The photo caused an online stir and Idan, who is Muslim, was attacked on social media soon after for publising the picture. She did not remove image from her account, but posted a statement in Arabic apologizing “to all those who consider [the picture] harmful to the Palestinian cause,” the UK’s Jewish Chronicle reported. She added that “posting this does not mean that I am supporting the Israeli government and does not mean that I accept any of their policies toward the Arab world.”

During a recent interview with Israel’s Hadashot News channel, Gandelsman talked about the incident and revealed that “people made threats against [Idan] and her family that if she didn’t return home and take down the photos, they would remove her title, [and] that they would kill her. Out of fear, they left Iraq at least until the situation calms down.” ...

Cry havoc: Iran completes land bridge to Syria; all hell starts breaking loose

...This isn’t some nutty Middle Eastern ritual going on. The reason it’s all happening now is that a sequence of events is unfolding: one that’s visible on a map, but that there is virtually no reporting on in the U.S.

The sequence of events, taken together, equals Iran completing her land bridge – her military line of communication – across Iraq and into Syria. This is a major shift, one that under the best of circumstances would be a permanently destabilizing, if latent, condition.

But the best of circumstances are not what we face. The U.S. is out of position to contain this situation. No one else can contain it. It will metastasize; the only questions are how, and how fast....

A World Of Good: Madera CHP officer helped make sure a Modesto woman took part in her naturalization ceremony

...While responding to an accident north of Avenue 17 on Highway 99 Ruvalcaba met 83-year-old Sarkees. Despite her obvious signs of pain, and a totaled car, she had somewhere she needed to be.

After taking the citizenship test seven times Sarkees was finally getting sworn in as a US citizen.

"That enthusiasm, her eagerness to be here, the fact that she put her pain aside and her suffering-- that pushed me to drive out here and made it happen for her," said Ruvalcaba.

Arriving in style Sarkees was taken to Valedez Hall by CHP escort.

Thanks to officer Ruvalcaba Sarkees was able to take her oath alongside more than 900 other people.

"I'm going to be American. I be happy-- very happy to be American lady, I be very very happy."

Iraqis have endured years of Islam being used to justify mass killing, and some see Mr. Trump as a truth-teller in calling out Islam — or a certain brand of it — as the problem.

...In Mr. Trump’s vow to defeat terrorism many Iraqis say they have hope that decisive American power will be marshaled to eradicate the Islamic State, the extremist group also known as ISIS, which has occupied parts of Iraq and Syria for the past two years.

“We have no concerns about the policy of Trump because he is against extremism,” said Saad al-Hadithi, the spokesman for Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. “We think we are facing one enemy, and that is fighting ISIS. Therefore, I do not think there are fears or concerns about a new American policy.”...

WIKILEAKS releases over 1,000 Hillary Clinton emails in relation to the Iraq War

WikiLeaks tweeted a link to their email archive from their official Twitter page today. Wikileaks appears to have a substantial amount of information on Clinton, having already released a large archive of Clinton’s emails earlier in the year. Breitbart has previously reported on Julian Assange’s claims that Google is complicit in the managing of Clintons online media campaign.

Released only a week after Bill Clinton’s meeting with Attorney General, Loretta Lynch and a day after Huma Abedins admission that Hillary Clinton had burned daily schedules, the contents of Hillary’s released emails, containing multiple interactions between Clinton and multiple white house officials, could be extremely damaging to Clinton’s current presidential campaign.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has previously stated that he has multiple leaks in store for Clinton and, as a free speech fundamentalist, believes that a Clinton presidency could be damaging.

“Of course, when she is in power…she is a problem for freedom of speech. We know what she is going to do. She made the chart for the destruction of Libya—she was involved in the process of taking the Libyan armory and sending it to Syria” said Assange in a video posted to YouTube....

Muslims mark start of Ramadan, many under cloud of war

...Marking the divine revelation received by Prophet Mohammed, the month sees Muslim faithful abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and having sex from dawn to dusk.

They break the fast with a meal known as iftar and before dawn have a second opportunity to eat and drink during suhur. The month is followed by the Eid al-Fitr festival.

But for many in Syria who have been accustomed to hardship after five years of war, this year's Ramadan was expected to be especially difficult, particularly in besieged cities and towns.

In Madaya, where some 40,000 people have been living under government siege for months, resident Mumina, 32, and her husband planned to break the fast using UN food handouts.

The package contain pulses and tuna cans but "there's no pasta, no meat, no dairy. We tried to plant some vegetables but the land isn't good for planting now," she said....
