Happy New Year!

At least 35 KILLED in #Istanbul night club attack, another 40 wounded

Congrats to @realDonaldTrump and @KellyannePolls: http://WND.com Man and Woman of the year!

...Despite everyone underestimating him from day one, Donald Trump showed himself in 2016 not just to be a master of branding and messaging, but an orator and political tactician surpassing anyone seen in decades.

Slowly, painfully, the mainstream media is learning Donald J. Trump knew what he was doing all along. In the face of all but unanimous hatred from the press and overwhelming opposition from both political parties, Trump managed to conquer both the GOP from within and take the presidency in what has to be regarded as the biggest electoral upset in history.

But he didn’t do it alone. Kellyanne Conway played what Trump himself called a “crucial role” in his victory by plugging the gaps in Trump’s coalition.

With her media savvy and skill as a surrogate, she helped him overcome his weaknesses with women voters. She provided the data and the ground game which brought Trump victory in states Republicans haven’t won for decades. Her tireless advocacy in the face of withering criticism showed her to be a stalwart and loyal fighter possessed of the zeal of a convert.

And Conway did seemingly what no one else could, harnessing Trump’s populist, unscripted approach behind a precisely tailored message. The result was a winning coalition few in the media thought was possible – and the most powerful political partnership America has seen in a generation.

Conway recently accepted a job as counselor to the president and will be part of the “senior staff” in the White House. President-elect Trump and Kellyanne Conway will continue to subvert the establishment press, dominate the media narrative at will, and combine populism with a professionalism in a way American politics has never witnessed before

Together, they have already changed American politics forever.

Together, they are WND’s Duo of the Year for 2016. And now, together, we will see if they can keep their promises, and Make America Great Again.

A Pentagon subcontractor (for Healthcare) has leaked personnel data on military staff, inc. top-secret clearance holders.

A Pentagon subcontractor has exposed reams of highly sensitive details belonging to active military healthcare professionals online, some of which hold top-secret security clearances.

Potomac Healthcare Solutions, a subcontractor brought on board to supply healthcare professionals to the US government and military organizations through its parent Washington, DC.-based contractor Booz Allen Hamilton was the source of the data....

Many of those named in the leaked personnel files are linked to SOCOM's Preservation of the Force and Families (POTFF) program, a scheme that aims to ease the psychological and physical burdens often placed on military personnel and their families through unit-specific teams of healthcare professionals and counsellors.

The files include names of social workers, physical therapists, nurses and assistants, doctors, and psychologists, which alongside detail the states of their residency, pay scales, contract start and term dates, units and work locations.

The documents supplied by Vickery also revealed a "master tracking list" of POTFF personnel personal data and their security clearance levels.

Some of those possess "top secret" clearance, including access to sensitive compartmented information (TS/SCI) -- typically only granted to vetted staff who are then hired to work on sensitive special access programs.

More fake news. An employee finding malware on their personal laptop does not equal "Russia hacking our electric grid"...

Daily Caller: “Last night, U.S. utilities were alerted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of a malware code used in Grizzly Steppe, the name DHS has applied to a Russian campaign linked to recent hacks,” a spokesman for the Burlington Electric Department said. “We acted quickly to scan all computers in our system for the malware signature. We detected the malware in a single Burlington Electric Department laptop not connected to our organization’s grid systems.”

The Vermont Public Service Commissioner Christopher Recchia told The Burlington Free Press, “The grid is not in danger.”

However, this false Washington Post story about a Russian intrusion into the American electrical grid has caused panic among journalists....

Christians in Aleppo were happy this Christmas because it was the first time in several years that they could celebrate Christ's birth in their churches and cathedral.

According to well-informed sources contacted by AsiaNews, the people of Aleppo have celebrated with singing and dancing on the rubble strewn streets; in general there is an atmosphere of widespread joy, in spite of the ravages of war and the signs conflict that are visible everywhere.

However, the biggest victory for Aleppo is not the liberation of the city from jihadists and insurgents, which in four years failed to foster the support of the population, rather the total failure of their attempt to kill the spirit of tolerance and coexistence between religions and ethnicities. This is peculiar to Syria and especially its northern metropolis, and Jihadist extremism could not erase it.

In fact, in a sign of triumph Aziziya - the Armenian Christian Quarter of Aleppo - erected a giant Christmas tree, festively illuminating the streets. Moreover, yesterday evening a band, composed of Armenian youth dressed as Santa Claus, performed in the square to the delight of the entire population of the area. . . .

About one million people originally from Aleppo returned to the city after the liberation by the government forces, all ready to pick up their lives from where they were suddenly interrupted by jihadist groups. They want to rebuild, re-open businesses and factories, return the equipment stolen by militias and smuggled into Turkey. In the area there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm and dynamism, elements that have always characterized the people of Aleppo.

So the guy they called Hitler for the past year is the only one defending Israel?

HuffPo political editor: Obama presided over "destruction" of Democratic party

"You look at the destruction of the Democratic Party under Barack Obama’s leadership and you have to wonder, what was the political — what were the electoral benefits that he gave to the party?” Stein asked on MSNBC's “Morning Joe” on Wednesday.

“He leaves them in a much worse position,” Stein continued. “The states are decimated, they lost control of the House and Senate, the governorships are decimated.”

Republicans will control the presidency and both chambers of Congress after Donald Trump takes office on Jan. 20.

The GOP will also hold the governor’s office in 33 states starting in 2017, the most in 24 years. And Republicans control both chambers in 32 state legislatures, while Democrats have control of both chambers in only California, Delaware, Hawaii, Oregon and Rhode Island....

It was the end of the big year with three zeroes. The first X-Men movie had broken box office records. You couldn’t set foot in a supermarket without listening to Brittney Spears caterwauling, “Oops, I Did It Again.” And Republicans and Democrats had total control of both chambers of legislatures in the same amount of states. That was the way it was back in the distant days of the year 2000.

In 2016, Republicans control both legislative chambers in 32 states. That’s up from 16 in 2000.

What happened to the big donkey? Among other things, the Democrats decided to sell their base and their soul to a very bad billionaire and they got a very bad deal for both....

It's Worse Than Bush Derangement Syndrome

I was hoping to write an upbeat column to kick off the new year, something about how all sorts of things in our great country are bound to get better in the months ahead, a column based at least as much on wishful thinking as hard-nosed reality. A columnist can get away with that kind of fluff this time of year. But it’s hard to be cheery when our nation is in the throes of a full-blown epidemic, one that is causing so much pain to millions and millions of our fellow Americans.

Yes, I’m talking about the dreaded mental disorder known as Trump Derangement Syndrome — or simply TDS.

You remember Bush Derangement Syndrome, right, when the mere mention of President George W. Bush’s name sent liberals into a fevered state of instability. Someone would carelessly say “Bush” and their eyes would involuntarily begin to roll, then came the shortness of breath, followed by foam forming on the poor victim’s mouth – though this mainly happened among Bush-hating liberals who lived on the Upper West Side of Manhattan or in Hollywood.

It was horrible, for sure, but not as horrible as Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Nearing exit, Obama seeks to tie Trump's hands... Unleashes 3,853 regs, 18 for every law, record 97,110 pages of red tape...

The problem with this story is that, like the Iraq-WMD mess, it takes place in the middle of a highly politicized environment during which the motives of all the relevant actors are suspect. Nothing quite adds up.

EPA To Alaskans In Sub-Zero Temps: Stop Burning Wood To Keep Warm

In Jack London’s famous short story, “To Build A Fire,” a man freezes to death because he underestimates the cold in America’s far north and cannot build a proper fire. The unnamed man—a chechaquo, what Alaska natives call newcomers—is accompanied by a wolf-dog that knows the danger of the cold and is wholly indifferent to the fate of the man. “This man did not know cold. Possibly, all the generations of his ancestry had been ignorant of cold, of real cold, of cold 107 degrees below freezing point. But the dog knew; all its ancestry knew, and it had inherited the knowledge.”

If only the bureaucrats in Washington DC knew what the wolf-dog knew. But alas, now comes the federal government to tell the inhabitants of Alaska’s interior that, really, they should not be building fires to keep themselves warm during the winter. The New York Times reports the Environmental Protection Agency could soon declare the Alaskan cities of Fairbanks and North Pole, which have a combined population of about 100,000, in “serious” noncompliance of the Clean Air Act early next year.

...The problem with the EPA bullying the people of Fairbanks about their wood stoves is that the federal government thinks this is a problem that can be solved. What would the EPA have Alaskans do, use solar panels to heat their homes in winter?

California Democrats just made sex trafficking of minors easier

Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right.

SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.

This terribly destructive legislation was written and passed by the progressive Democrats who control California's state government with a two-thirds "supermajority." To their credit, they are sincere in their belief that decriminalizing underage prostitution is good public policy that will help victims of sex trafficking. Unfortunately, the reality is that the legalization of underage prostitution suffers from the fatal defect endemic to progressive-left policymaking: it ignores experience, common sense and most of all human nature — especially its darker side.

The unintended but predictable consequence of how the real villains — pimps and other traffickers in human misery — will respond to this new law isn't difficult to foresee....

Anti-Semitic U.N. creating blacklist of Israeli companies and companies doing business w Israel

In all the fury over the anti-Israel UN Resolution 2334 the Obama administration marshalled through the Security Council, with an “abstain” vote providing cover for the perfidy, few people have focused on a particularly pernicious and dangerous provision.

I’m not talking about the provisions effectively declaring it illegal for Jews to live in Jewish Quarter of the Old City or to worship at the Western Wall.

Here is the provision I’m talking about in Resolution 2334 (pdf.):
5. Calls upon all States, bearing in mind paragraph 1 of this resolution, to
distinguish, in their relevant dealings, between the territory of the State of Israel and
the territories occupied since 1967;
Why is that significant?

Most of you don’t realize that the UN Human Rights Council, known for its obsession with attacking Israel, voted in March 2016 to create a blacklist of companies that do business, directly or indirectly, with any Israeli or Israeli business located over the 1949 armistice line. The resolution passed with 32 votes in favour and 15 abstentions....

The sweeping nature of the UNHRC resolution covers almost all Israeli businesses, which at least “indirectly” do business with settlements given the interwoven nature of the Israeli economy.

So this is a blacklist, effectively, of all companies doing business with Israel.

The UNHRC is recreating the Arab League anti-Israel boycott blacklist but with a UN imprimatur, something I addressed in my recent lecture, The REAL History of the BDS Movement.

Anti-Israel “human rights” groups like Human Rights Watch are eagerly helping compile the blacklist...

Unreal – U.S. Media Frame Obama’s Russia Sanctions as “Vote Hacking”…

The Obama administration announced Thursday that it would shut down some Russian intelligence sites in the U.S. while declaring their operatives “persona non grata” on American soil. Some U.S. Senators had been clamoring for a response to the alleged cyber-hacking meant to influence the election. President-elect Donald Trump, meanwhile, dismissed the intrusion and downplayed any sanctions the U.S. might impose, arguing that Americans should “get on with our lives.”

YEAR IN REVIEW: Leaked Documents Revealed Expansive Soros Funding to Manipulate Federal Elections

The billionaire and convicted felon moved hundreds of millions of dollars into often-secret efforts to change election laws, fuel litigation to attack election integrity measures, push public narratives about voter fraud, and to integrate the political ground game of the left with efforts to scare racial minority groups about voting rights threats.

These Soros-funded efforts moved through dozens of 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) charities and involved the active compliance with civil rights groups, government officials, and purportedly non-partisan groups like the League of Women Voters.

The leaked documents also reveal deliberate and successful efforts to manipulate media coverage of election issues in mainstream media outlets like the The New York Times....

Obama Yanks Second Amendment Rights from SSI Recipients

The SSA, for the first time in its history, will be coopted into the federal government’s gun control apparatus, effectively requiring Social Security applicants to weigh their need for benefits against their fundamental rights when applying for assistance based on mental health problems

Barack Obama’s political party and the presidential candidate he personally endorsed and campaigned for suffered perhaps the most dramatic rebuke in the history of American politics with the election of Donald J. Trump. Far from being humbled or chastened, however, Obama is spending the waning days of his presidency releasing duly convicted felons from prison, making low-level appointments, and pushing pet policy projects, all to do something, anything, to leave his stamp after a lackluster tenure.

The Social Security rule is the final version of a proposal that we reported on earlier this year. Public outcry against the proposed rule was fierce, and the comment period drew over 91,000 responses, the vast majority of them opposing the plan.

The NRA itself submitted detailed comments, taking the proposed rule to task for its many legal problems, its lack of empirical support, and the way it would politicize the SSA’s functions and stigmatize its beneficiaries.

The SSA, however, essentially ignored the NRA’s comments and the tens of thousands of others pointing out problems with the plan and issued a final rule that in most key respects tracks the original proposal....

Californian Climate Madness: Committed to Moving Forward, Ignoring Warnings From Business

...Who do you think knows more about running a business and creating jobs, politicians or business leaders? Business leaders are sometimes happy to indulge in populist green washing, but Californian political plans go far beyond a little window dressing.

The desire for “more company” to join California’s job destroying climate plan is telling – if Californian political leaders really thought their plan made economic sense, they wouldn’t have to beg for company, other people would flock to join their climate crusade – probably all riding their eco-friendly flying pigs.

On the eve of the Presidential election, 67% of Americans believed the country was on the wrong track. Notwithstanding Obama’s repeated and incessant pleadings with voters to endorse his legacy by electing Hillary, voters either stayed away from the polls or sided with Trump.

More Amateur Hour From Barack Obama–UPDATE - Larry Johnson/NoQuarter

Democrats can continue to indulge the fantasy that they “won” the popular vote and have broad based support, but that is not true. Take the votes from Los Angeles County and New York City out of the mix, and the plurality that Hillary supporters love to tout vanishes.

With his latest move in conspiring to secure the passage of a Security Council resolution condemning Jewish settlements, Obama has alienated a significant portion of the Jewish American voters who, until this betrayal, supported him. What is so puzzling about this move is that it was not provoked by a sudden surge of new construction in Israel. Nor was it tied to a negotiating strategy to somehow bring pressure to bear on Israel. The effect is the opposite. Israel, feeling more isolated and threatened, will become more entrenched and more stubborn.

The most interesting dynamic for me is that this boneheaded move by Obama is a gift to Trump, whose tweets decrying the failure to support Israel effectively kills the Democrat effort to paint him and his Administration a bunch of red-neck, jew haters. Moreover, this gives Trump an opening to talk turkey with Senate Dems who are also Jewish. So far, Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Benjamin Cardin (D-MD) have denounced Obama’s action. The only Jewish Senator in favor is Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)....

One conservative idea liberals will start to love in 2017

Governing from the state and local level has long been something conservatives prefer to federal action, given their desire for a limited federal government and affinity for the 10th Amendment, which reserves for states and "the people" any powers not given in the Constitution to the feds. For the past six years, it's helped that so many state legislatures and governorships have been held by Republicans.

But next year, as Republicans start to dismantle President Obama's legacy, liberals will start to warm to the idea of state-level reforms. Why does everyone have to lose Obamacare coverage, they might say, when most of the people in deep-blue California or New York want to keep it? Why should every state jettison environmental regulations, they might say, when people in blue states in the northeast want to keep many of them?

The good news for liberals is that the 13 states where Democrats control both legislative chambers are welcome to pass such laws on their own (though some of those states, such as Illinois, Maryland and Massachusetts, have GOP governors, which will make it difficult).

Obamacare repealed? California can pass its own version, if that's what its people really want. Environmental regulations undone nationwide? Oregonians can pass their own....

Erdogan Says He Has "Confirmed Evidence" The US Supports ISIS

Because acceptance of a pardon amounts to a confession of guilt, the acceptance by Mrs. Clinton would, to a degree, besmirch both Mrs. Clinton and also Pres. Obama. After all, Mrs. Clinton was Pres. Obama’s secretary of state. If she was committing illegal acts as secretary, it happened literally on his watch.

...What looks like one question—will the president pardon Mrs. Clinton?—turns out, on analysis, to be two. The first question is: Would Mrs. Clinton wish to receive a pardon?

That question seems to be a proverbial no-brainer. Surely, any person who had been in federal government would be eager to receive a presidential pardon, because it eliminates even the possibility of federal prosecution. That looks like all upside and no downside.

But there is a downside, and it isn’t trivial. A pardon must be accepted by the person who is pardoned if it is to effectively stymie any prosecution.

Furthermore, there is solid legal precedent that acceptance of a pardon is equivalent to confession of guilt. A U.S. Supreme Court case from 1915 called Burdick v. U.S. establishes that principle; it has never been overturned....
