ICYMI: Another EPA-caused disaster in Georgia happened 5 months ago, but hazard continues in sediment flow

Another EPA disaster, this time in rural Georgia

In Greensboro, EPA-funded contractors grading a toxic 19th-century cotton mill site struck a water main, sending the deadly sediment into a nearby creek. Though that accident took place five months ago, the hazard continues as heavy storms — one hit the area Tuesday — wash more soil into the creek.

The sediment flows carry dangerous mercury, lead, arsenic and chromium downstream to Lake Oconee and then to the Oconee River — home to many federally and state protected species.

Lead in the soil at the project site is 20,000 times higher than federal levels established for drinking water, said microbiologist Dave Lewis, who was a top-level scientist during 31 years at the Environmental Protection Agency.

He became a whistleblower critical of EPA practices and now works for Focus for Health, a nonprofit that researches disease triggers.

US Marines On Liberty Subdue Armed Attacker at French Train Station

Moroccan terrorist, 26, who was taken down by hero US airman and his friends after opening fire on French train - as it emerges he 'fought with ISIS in Syria and was known to FOUR intelligence agencies'

  • Ayoub El-Khazzani, 26, allegedly opened fire on the high-speed train from Amsterdam to Paris with a Kalashnikov
  • He 'wounded one man before he was disarmed and beaten unconscious by two American soldiers and a student'
  • Alarmingly, suspect had already been on government officials' radars in four European countries prior to attack
  • He had previously traveled to Turkey - where he 'received military training with ISIS' - and then to Syria to fight
  • Spanish officials had flagged him to French police last year because he belongs to 'radical Islamist movement'
  • Questions are now being asked as to how El-Khazzani, from Morocco, was allowed to move freely around Europe
  • During Friday evening attack, El-Khazzani 'started shooting on train', which had more than 500 passengers on it
  • Air Force airman Spencer Stone ran at the gunman, along with Oregon National Guard member Alek Skarlatos, 22
  • With the help of Anthony Sadler, from California, and British national Chris Norman, they stopped the terror attack
  • Three people, including Stone, wounded in the attack and French police have hailed the bravery of the bystanders

Sadly, one of the Marines was reportedly shot and is “believed to be in critical condition.” May God bless him.

8th Video: StemExpress CEO Admits Planned Parenthood Sells Intact Aborted Babies

Just a short time after a judge issued a ruling that the biotech firm StemExpress can’t block the Center for Medical Progress from releasing another video that shows what it does with aborted babies Planned Parenthood sells to it, the pro-life group put up the 8th video in its series showing the scandal of Planned Parenthood selling aborted baby body parts.

While the videos have focused on the Planned Parenthood abortion business, the biotech firm StemExpress, which buys and resells aborted baby body parts from the abortion giant, has filed a lawsuit seeking to block some information the Center for Medical Progress obtained in its three year undercover operation.

Last month, a court in California blocked the pro-life group from releasing any videos regarding certain meetings of the middleman, StemExpress. The restraining order does not apply to the Planned Parenthood abortion business or even to StemExpress in its entirety, making it so additional videos were released.

Today, a judge lifted the order and Center for Medical Progress immediately released a new video.

Out-Of-Control Big Government Is Destroying Us

Social observers from Aristotle and Juvenal to James Madison and George Orwell have all warned of the dangers of out-of-control government. Lately, we have seen plenty of proof that they were frighteningly correct.

The Environmental Protection Agency spilled 3 million gallons of toxic sludge into a tributary of the Animas River in Colorado. The stinky yellow flume of old mine waste — rife with cancer-causing mercury and arsenic — threatens to pollute the drinking and recreational water of three states.

Had a private oil company acted so incompetently and negligently, it would have been fined billions of dollars by the same EPA. The company's top executives might have been subject to criminal prosecutions. The business' reputation would have been tarnished for years. Just ask BP officials what the Obama administration did to the corporation after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico.
But who'll police the green police at the EPA?...

What is the common denominator in these government scandals — as well as the recent scandals involving the needless deaths of veterans waiting for care at Veterans Health Administration facilities, the sex and booze escapades of Secret Service agents, the Las Vegas junketing at the General Services Administration, the snooping at the National Security Agency and the lack of cyber-security at Office of Personnel Management?
The bigger government gets, the more employees are hired, and the more unaccountable power accrues to bureaucracies, the more government takes on a life of its own. Public grandees resemble Hollywood's out-of-control androids or Frankenstein monsters that turn on their creators — in these cases, the taxpayers.

Secure, high-level government administrative jobs — where dismissal is rare and automatic promotion common — promote mediocrity. Institutionalized incompetence explains why NASA can no longer launch its own astronauts into space without help from Russia, or why the cost of the California high-speed rail project soars before an inch of track is laid....

Springer Publishing, one of the world’s leading publishers of Science, Technology and Medicine (STM) books and journals, issued an announcement this week that 64 different professional articles, primarily in the medical field, had been retracted.

It turns out that the vaunted peer review process, designed to ensure that multiple sets of experts evaluate the quality of the work before it hits the presses, had fallen apart. The peer reviews in some cases were found to be “highly suspicious” with bogus email addresses and questionable credentials.

JUDGE TRUMP: Meet the Donald's sister...

...Although she did not start law school until after her son was in sixth grade, Ms. Barry has had a four-decade career as a prosecutor and federal judge, achieving a measure of celebrity independent of her brother. (“This is not the Trump Princess,” The Chicago Sun-Times wrote in 1989.) Some friends say they did not even know she was part of the famous family.

“There was a story in Time magazine or something, and a couple of the other lawyers come in and go, ‘Did you know Maryanne is a Trump?’ ” said Donald J. Volkert Jr., a former New Jersey Superior Court judge who became a close friend of Ms. Barry’s. “And I said, ‘What’s a trump?’ ”

Ms. Barry earned a reputation as a tough judge with a strong command of her courtroom. In 1989, as a district court judge in Essex County, N.J., she blocked a plea deal that would have freed two county detectives accused of protecting a drug dealer. She forced the case to trial, where the detectives were convicted and received 12- and 15-year jail terms. She presided over the conviction of Louis (Bobby) Manna, the Genovese crime family boss accused of trying to assassinate a rival, John Gotti. And in 1996, she chastised federal prosecutors for trying to deport a former deputy attorney general of Mexico, calling their efforts politically motivated, unconstitutional and “Kafkaesque.”...

A proposal under consideration by the Legislature would mandate a massive 50% gas cut and let unelected bureaucrats figure out the details. They could even launch new subsidies for the purchase of millions of new electric cars and send taxpayers the astronomical bill.

The politicians have just returned from vacation and at the top of their agenda is a $3 billion gas tax increase. Call them now and tell them gas taxes are too high already!

The politicians always want more money, but taxpayers need to point out California is already a high tax state that drives away jobs and productive citizens while wasting billions of dollars a year.

EPA-polluted rivers deemed safe for irrigation, water fountains

The Navajo Nation is still warning residents not to use the river for crops or livestock watering until it completes its own environmental review.

A team of EPA contractors spilled 3 million gallons of toxic waste, including lead, arsenic and other heavy metals, into the Animas River while evaluating Colorado’s long abandoned Gold King Mine on Aug. 5.

The spill kicked off a flurry of criticism from Republicans, who promised to investigate how the agency allowed it to happen. The EPA has responded by testing water in the Animas and San Juan rivers and providing supplies of safe water for locals. Administrator Gina McCarthy traveled to the area to assess the damage last week.

Sunday Funnies:

Planned Parenthood and the Eugenics Movement

...The eugenics agenda eventually fell out of favor: The conscience of the West was quickened by the sight of the ovens at Auschwitz, the ultimate manifestation of the logic of eugenics. Yet the scientific community, with its rising cultural authority, had helped to persuade a generation of an urgent biological necessity. Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was among the ranks of the true believers. Speaking at Vassar College in 1926, Sanger warned of a social crisis — “an increasing race of morons” — unless sterilization policies were widely implemented.

For people of faith, the problem is not science, but scientism: the belief that science can explain every facet of human existence from Nature itself.

In that worldview, there are few restraints on what science can do — must do — in order to improve mankind’s physical well-being. This is what C. S. Lewis meant when he warned of “the abolition of man” — the negation of human dignity in the name of progress, or compassion, or humanity, or science itself. Lewis lived long enough to witness firsthand the dreadful progeny of this idea: “For the power of Man to make himself what he pleases means, as we have seen, the power of some men to make other men what they please.”

The passage of time, it seems, has only strengthened this power and the fearsome temptation to use it.
