California Governor Jerry Brown won’t touch scholarship funding for illegal immigrant students while he cuts scholarship funding for middle-class U.S. citizens enrolled in higher education institutions, Campus Reform reports.

Awash in another budget deficit expected to hit $2 billion by this summer, Brown decided to trim education expenses — but spending on scholarships for illegals will continue to increase....

Paul Golaszewski, Principal Fiscal & Policy Analyst for the LAO, told Campus Reform that the DREAM Act is going to cost California taxpayers $88.6 million in fiscal year 2017/18.

Many middle-class families are outraged that student illegals are untouched by budget cuts while Brown is disinterested in the financial burdens of middle class families living in highly-taxed California. They say Brown’s plan lacks a basic comprehension of middle-class need.

“I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about this stuff,” Jill Cohen-Sandler, who has a daughter who plans to attend college, said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “I’m constantly calculating, how are we going to make this work?” ...

New Faces at the NFRW

The NFRW is excited to welcome Liz Matro to the headquarters staff as Executive Projects Coordinator. A New Jersey native, Liz is a 2013 graduate of Catholic University and comes to the NFRW from IREX (International Research & Exchanges Board). Liz takes over for Anushya Ramaswamy, who recently was promoted to Membership Director.

Also new to the NFRW staff is Linda Kivi-Porter, in charge of Special Projects and Endowments. A member of the Loudoun (VA) Republican Women's Club, Linda has been a familiar face at national board meetings, serving as a sergeant at arms.

(CNN/Salem Radio), Las Vegas, NV. Moderated by Wolf Blitzer, Dana Bash, and Hugh Hewitt. Main Debate at 9 PM. On November 20, CNN announced that to make the main debate, candidates must meet one of three criteria in polls conducted between 10/29 & 12/13: an average of at least 3.5% nationally; at least 4% in IA or at least 4% in NH. Hillary Doesn't Like Unpaid Internships, but Clinton Foundation Sure Does

Hillary Clinton may be running for president as a champion for the middle class, but the Clinton Foundation’s interns do not get paid.

“Businesses have taken advantage of unpaid internships to an extent that it is blocking the opportunities for young people to move on into paid employment,” Clinton said at UCLA in 2013. “More businesses need to move their so-called interns to employees.”

That doesn’t happen at her own business, the Clinton Foundation that Bill started in 2001.

“The Clinton Foundation makes no promises or commitments of employment after the internship,” the Foundation says on its website. “No intern is entitled to a job at the conclusion of his/her internship experience.”

The foundation goes through about 100 interns each summer, with slightly less during the school year. Summer interns volunteer 30 to 40 hours a week, while interns who work during a college semester may work 25 hours. The most some interns receive is a $2,000 stipend for a four-month period, and that depends on financial need.

Paying them all New York’s minimum wage of $8.75, for instance, would cost a fraction of the foundation’s budget...

Humboldt Republican Women Federated (HRWF) offers a $500.00 scholarship, to be awarded to a deserving high school graduate. The scholarship includes an additional $500.00 to be awarded upon completion of their Freshman year provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA during that year.

Scholarship Application for Humboldt Republican Women Federated's $500 Scholarship.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.) A high school grade point average of 3.5 or more.
2.) A relationship to a member of Humboldt Republican Women Federated (Preference given to Humboldt County residents)
3.) A commitment to further your education at a Junior college, four year college or trade school
4.) Two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher or counselor and one from a community member.
5.) Completion of the application form

The application in the approved form, must be received by May 1st.

National Pathfinder Scholarship: Three annual scholarships of $2,500 provide financial assistance and support to women seeking undergraduate or graduate degrees. DOROTHY ANDREWS KABIS MEMORIAL INTERNSHIP apply by February 20

◼ The Dorothy Andrews Kabis Memorial Internship honors the former president of the NFRW (1963-67) who later was appointed U.S. treasurer by President Richard Nixon. The internship gives female undergraduates the opportunity to spend part of the summer working at national headquarters in Alexandria, Va. It includes a small monetary allowance, roundtrip airfare to and from Washington, D.C., and housing in the D.C. metropolitan area.

Applicants must be at least a junior in college or a college student 21 years of age or older. They should have a general knowledge of government, a keen interest in politics, campaign experience, and sufficient clerical office skills that are adaptable to a busy office.
