Obama never understood that America needed a good economy: President Trump, with his tax cuts and deregulation, did.
It’s the economy, stupid—and right now, the Trump economy is blasting off. @TerryMoran has analysis from Davos: https://t.co/s7NrWpKUJF pic.twitter.com/xG4IsFLh96
— ABC News Politics (@ABCPolitics) January 26, 2018
REPORT: Trump Davos Performance Was "BRILLIANT" https://t.co/cZlS1g7Mou #dcwhispers pic.twitter.com/EHoqJed2y0
— DCWhispers (@RealDCWhispers) January 28, 2018
Quote: “America is open for business, and we are competitive once again.”
End quote. That was just one of the key lines in President Trump’s highly successful Davos speech this week.
…Trump’s polices, in just one year, have begun to restructure the American economy. We’ve moved from “secular stagnation” (i.e., high taxes, massive regulation, huge government spending, and a disdain for business and investors) to a new private-sector incentive system that rewards success.
By slashing individual and corporate tax rates, providing 100% immediate expensing for plants and technology, and making it easy for big companies who fled our high-tax system to bring the money back home, he has ended the war against business and investment.
And it has happened faster than anyone imagined possible....
So, America First came to Davos, and to all the multi-lateral globalists and multi-nationalist elites. And these CEOs, bureaucrats, and academics listened carefully to Trump’s words.
Success has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan.
Davos: Obama never understood that America needed a good economy: President Trump, with his tax cuts and deregulation, did. The difference is now obvious to the business leaders at Davos. The rest of us call it 'Make America Great Again.' https://t.co/Iabz3o1B97 b
— American Thinker (@amthinker) January 28, 2018
...His (Terry Moran's) piece... leaves out the flip, or shadow side to the central point he's making: That unlike Trump, the Obama administration never thought the U.S. needed a good economy.
President Obama thought stimulus packages, welfare, and free stuff packages and Obamacare would serve as an adequate substitute.
He left tax cuts for the birds, thinking no one would ever take them up after he bloated up the government, because nobody would ever have the nerve to reduce it, let alone trust people with more money in their pockets.
To Obama, people didn't need money, they needed programs, with bureaucrats monitoring and administering the goodies, rewarding the 'good' and punishing the 'bad' (such as the tea parties). it's why he started so many of them. It's why he hired so many bureaucrats and took over so much - from health care to government land.
All he refused to do was cut taxes. But by leaving tax cuts on the table, it was an easy thing for Trump to snap up the opportunity, work with Congress on a tax cut plan, and just run with it. In a nation pent-up with uncut taxes, the result has been absolutely stellar...
Trump knew the U.S. needed a good economy. Obama didn't. Moran may echo 'it's the economy, stupid,' but that's just Clintonese nostalgia. In America today, it's known as 'Make America Great Again.'
FAKE NEWS: USA Today, Before Trump's Friday Davos Speech: He May Face 'An Empty Room' https://t.co/K12miEJCbh
— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) January 28, 2018
On Thursday, USA Today headlined the possibility, with an accompanying video, that President Donald Trump might "be giving a speech to a empty room in Davos" on Friday. It didn't work out that way....
CNN, despite predictably lukewarm coverage, acknowledged that "Trump spoke to a packed conference hall on Friday, and more attendees watched on screens in three overflow rooms."
The Associated Press all but admitted that attendees were Trump admirers:
Trump addressed the crowd of over 1,500 people packed into a high-ceilinged hall in the modern conference center. Anticipation was high from attendees, who have watched the president closely since he arrived, snapping photos when he entered and as he moved from room to room.

President Nobama https://t.co/iKHUajXCwD via @VDHanson pic.twitter.com/PbA1J7jeuC
— National Review (@NRO) January 17, 2018
...The wonder was never how to grow the economy at 3 percent (all presidents prior to 2009 had at one time or another done just that), but rather, contrary to “expert” economic opinion, how to discover ways to prevent that organic occurrence.
Obama was the first modern president who apparently figured out how. It took the efforts of a 24/7 redistributionist agenda of tax increases, federalizing health care, massive new debt, layers of more regulation, zero-interest rates, neo-socialist regulatory appointments, expansionary eligibility for entitlements, and constant anti-free-market jawboning that created a psychological atmosphere conducive to real retrenchment, mental holding patterns, and legitimate fears over discernable success. Obama weaponized federal agencies including the IRS, DOJ, and EPA in such a manner as to worry anyone successful, prominent, and conservative enough to come under the federal radar of a vindictive Lois Lerner, Eric Holder, or a FISA court.
Trump has sought to undo all that, point by point. The initial result so far is not rocket science, but rather a natural expression of what happens when millions of Americans believe they have greater freedom and safety to profit and innovate, and trust they will not be punished, materially or psychologically, for the ensuing successful results....

I tell you how President Trump earned the highest Presidential Approval levels of all time. Amazing! https://t.co/OPtIHPrX0L #POTUSVSG #Trump
— Scott Adams (@ScottAdamsSays) January 9, 2018
In olden days (pre-2016), candidates for president were not so different from each other. I can remember pundits complaining endlessly about how similar the Democrats and Republicans had become. In that environment, you can easily imagine someone who voted for Candidate A warming up to Candidate B. In those simpler times, a presidential approval poll meant something.
Today, a “presidential approval poll” is little more than taking attendance. If you’re a Democrat, you disapprove of President Trump as a lifestyle choice. If you voted for Trump, you probably still approve of him because you knew exactly what you were getting....
I contend that business optimism — and small business optimism in particular — are the new standard for presidential approval because “economics” captures most of what a president influences....
I have been telling you for two years straight that psychology drives the economy, and that a Master Persuader such as President Trump can directly influence psychology and optimism. We see him doing that right before our eyes.
I hu-wonder hu-why. https://t.co/BDSgO0WPb5
