House Dems introduce articles of impeachment against Trump

...The impeachment proponents have been encouraged by liberal activists urging Capitol Hill Democrats to get more aggressive in their efforts to topple Trump.

Tom Steyer, the billionaire environmentalist, is spending millions of dollars on national TV ads pressing Democratic leaders to get on board. The Democrats introducing the new impeachment articles on Wednesday seem to have taken notice....

Sex, Lies, Clinton and Trump

The Donald — you'll be surprised to hear if you've been living on Pluto — has been firing back, sweeping Mr. Hillary, now supposedly about to stump for his wife, into the fray.

"You look at whether it's Monica Lewinsky or Paula Jones or many of them," Trump said on NBC's TODAY. "That certainly will be fair game. Certainly if they play the woman's card with respect to me, that will be fair game."

In recent days, the GOP front-runner has been highlighting the former president's affair with intern Monica Lewinsky, saying that Bill Clinton has a pattern of "abuse of women."

Bill Clinton portrait features shadow of Lewinsky dress, says artist

Pennsylvania artist Nelson Shanks told the Philadelphia Daily News in a Sunday article that the painting features a shadow on its left-hand side, and that the shadow was actually cast by a blue dress that was placed on a mannequin. - LA Times

"The reality is [Clinton's] probably the most famous liar of all time. He and his administration did some very good things, of course, but I could never get this Monica thing completely out of my mind and it is subtly incorporated in the painting," the artist told the newspaper.

Shanks said that the mannequin was present while he was creating the portrait, but not while Clinton was posing.

He added that the dress "represents a shadow on the office [Clinton] held, or on him."

Lewinsky's blue dress was a focal point of the Clinton scandal, which first broke in 1998. In sworn testimony, the president initially denied that he had had sexual relations with the White House intern, who at the time of the encounters was 22.

After Lewinsky submitted a blue dress with a semen stain, Clinton publicly admitted that he had an improper "physical" relationship with the intern. Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives but acquitted in a subsequent Senate trial.

Five myths about impeachment

Some 40 years after Richard Nixon resigned to avoid his likely impeachment by the House of Representatives, Washington is again talking impeachment. Members of Congress are denouncing the president’s contempt for constitutional law, while the president is raising money to fight the effort to remove him. But this time, the money pouring in would be just as well spent on defense against Bigfoot. Much of the debate has been more mythological than constitutional. - Jonathan Turley/Washington Post

1. An impeachable offense is anything Congress says it is.
2. An impeachable offense must involve a violation of criminal law.
3. History establishes a clear precedent for impeachable conduct.
4. Impeaching a president is like recalling a governor.
5. Obama is in danger of impeachment.

...Obama is as likely to be impeached as he is to be installed as the next pontiff. And I say that as someone who has testified in Congress that this president has violated federal laws, unconstitutionally appointed various executive-branch officers and improperly transferred money. Nevertheless, many of these disputes have divided judges on the merits. Presidents are allowed to challenge Congress in such conflicts without being subject to impeachment. Where they cross the line is when they ignore final judicial rulings in acts of contempt of both courts and Congress. Obama has not done that.

Does ´No Impeachment´ Fulfill Alinsky´s Rule #4? - Jeannie DeAngelis/American Thinker

...This smacks of a Saul Alinsky Rule #4 “gotcha” if ever there was one, because John and Mitch may have been abruptly hooked by Barack Obama’s bait.

If they have, from the president’s standpoint this may be a bigger catch than Osama Bin Laden, because it paves the way for what Alinsky advised when he said, “make the enemy live up to its own book of rules” -- and that would mean that America loses.

How, you ask, does America lose by Republicans vowing not to impeach?

Easy! After Obama breaks the rules, thanks to their own proclamation, Republicans are now beholden to the rulebook they themselves created. As a result, this subversive president, against the will of the American people, can now dive without impediment into the impeachable offense of granting amnesty to millions of lawbreaking individuals.

After what looked like an attempt to blow the president’s scam and head off a stealthy maneuver, Republicans may have been majorly conned into tying their own hands, which, if that was the goal, is precisely what the president would have hoped for.

Now, if Obama acts without Congressional approval, if those who said they had no plans to impeach turn around and move to impeach, Barack ‘Alinsky Junior’ Obama is ‘fundamentally transformed,’ in the eyes of the public, into a misunderstood victim, persecuted by a band of bumbling politicians on the right who broke their word.

Either way, Barack Obama wins!

“I doubt you even pay taxes and the IRS will find you soon enough."

Exclusive: Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s Staff Threatens Taxpayer For Asking About Her Impeachment Claims - Dwayne Horner/PJMedia

On the House floor Wednesday, longtime Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee made the startling claim that “We did not seek an impeachment of President Bush, because as an executive, he had the authority.”

These are the moments when you say “Really?”

The problem here is that Rep. Lee lied to the American People inside the People’s House. Good thing for her that when you make speeches on the floor of the House of Representatives you are not under oath or under the threat of perjury. Perhaps that should change, but that’s another debate for another day.

Lied? Well back in 2008, Rep. Lee co-sponsored House Resolution 1258 entitled “Impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors. “

...That was startling. I asked to speak to someone in the office to register my thoughts on a congresswoman lying on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. From there, it got crazy but not as crazy, and then a little crazier.

I was transferred to a gentleman on Lee’s staff. When I again asked him about the contradiction and stated that perhaps I was confused, the man said “Oh look it here, we have one of those right wing, tea-bagger nut jobs on the phone taking his cues from FOX News.”

He then accused me of being un-American, raising his voice at me while asking me to calm down, and telling me that I am just on some mission to destroy our country. When I calmly asked for his name, he said “I don’t have to give it to you because I don’t want to show up on some right wing blog and be on your Twitter account.” Keep in mind, I never said who I was – he just made assumptions and attacked me. When I reminded him that he gets paid by our tax dollars, he said “I doubt you even pay taxes and the IRS will find you soon enough,” and hung up on me.

Was that a threat from Rep. Lee’s staff to use the IRS as a weapon against citizens for just asking questions?

'We have no plans to impeach the president. We have no future plans. Listen, it’s all a scam, started by Democrats at the White House'

Despite frantic claims from the White House and Democrats that impeachment of President Obama is possible, Speaker of the House John Boehner ruled out the possibility of that happening on Tuesday. - Alex Pappas/Daily Caller

“This whole talk about impeachment is coming from the president’s own staff,” Boehner said. “And coming from Democrats on Capitol Hill. Why? Because they are trying to rally their people to give money and to show up in this year’s election.”

“We have no plans to impeach the president,” Boehner added. “We have no future plans. Listen, it’s all a scam, started by Democrats at the White House.”

Ralph Nader's America: Impeach Obama, decriminalize drugs, libertarians & progressives unite!

link - Jeff Zeleny, Jordyn Phelps, and Alexandra Dukakis/Yahoo

What if Washington politics were no longer defined by partisan gridlock but instead by a cross-party alliance that forged solutions? The alliance would be unstoppable.

That’s the premise of the new book “Unstoppable: The Emerging Left-Right Alliance to Dismantle the Corporate State” by longtime political activist and five-time presidential candidate Ralph Nader, who contends that such a left-right alliance is not just the stuff of imagination but is actually emerging....

...When it comes to the current president, Nader said that Obama has violated the Constitution on several occasions and should be impeached.

"Oh, most definitely," Nader said when asked if Congress should bring forward articles of impeachment against Obama. "The reason why Congress doesn't want to do it is because it's abdicated its own responsibility under the Constitution."

Nader said the president's use of military force in Libya has been his most "egregious violation of the Constitution."

Hillary Clinton has a 'Woody Allen problem'

Media justifies the attention on so-called "Bridgegate" because, after all, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is a likely GOP presidential candidate. Why does Hillary Clinton get a pass over the serious allegation that she bullied a woman who claims Bill raped her? - Larry Elder/Washington Examiner

...Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Gennifer Flowers, et al...These women -- most of whose claims were eventually admitted to by Bill Clinton -- were shamed and blamed. Was Hillary involved in these verbal attacks? To what degree was the famously hands-on wife of Bill involved -- or even worse -- leading the "nuts or sluts" strategy used to malign his accusers as either crazy or of questionable morals?

...Broaddrick claims that two weeks after the rape, at a political event, Hillary approached her. "She came over to me, took a hold of my hand and said, 'I've heard so much about you and I've been dying to meet you. ... I just want you to know how much that Bill and I appreciate what you do for him.' ...

"This woman, this little, soft-spoken — pardon me for the phrase — dowdy woman that would seem very unassertive, took ahold of my hand and squeezed it and said, 'Do you understand? Everything that you do.' I could have passed out at that moment and I got my hand from hers and I left. ... She was just holding onto my hand. Because I had started to turn away from her and she held onto my hand and she said, 'Do you understand? EVERYTHING that you do,' I mean, cold chills went up my spine. That's the first time I became afraid of that woman."
