Middle class must be higher priority for California leaders.

...Since 2007, the loss of our manufacturing base has cost Los Angeles nearly 89,000 good-paying middle-class jobs. Those jobs have been replaced with service-sector jobs that pay less than half of the jobs they replaced. At the same time, Los Angeles County has seen poverty rates climb, the middle class shrink, housing affordability grow beyond the grasp of working people, and homelessness hit crisis proportions. Our “middle class” is slipping away into a world of haves and have-nots....

Zogby: Donald Trump is winning independents, middle class, Catholics, Protestants

And Rasmussen Reports poll of 1,000 likely voters shows Donald Trump with 43 per cent, compared with 39 per cent for Hillary Clinton. It's the first national poll since May 22 where Trump has been in the lead. Last week the same pollsters found Clinton ahead by 5 points – marking a 9-point swing in just 7 days

A Cadillac (Tax) For Everyone

link - Sally Pipes/Forbes

While campaigning for the White House, President Obama promised to cut taxes for 95 percent of Americans. As he put it, “In an economy like this, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle class.”

And then, the president went ahead and raised taxes on the middle class, thanks to Obamacare. Starting in 2018, Americans with high-cost health insurance through their employers will have to pay a 40 percent excise tax on their policies.

The intent of this so-called “Cadillac” tax was to discourage people from selecting costly insurance policies. But the rest of Obamacare — with its many mandates — certainly does its darnedest to raise the cost of insurance.

So Obamacare may require ordinary Americans to pay ever-greater sums for health insurance — and then penalize them for following the law.

...four in five large employers are changing their health plans. Some are requiring greater employee cost sharing, while others are removing dental and vision benefits.

In some cases, they’re replacing their generous health plans altogether. For their employees, that decision amounts to a pay cut — of up to $6,150, according to AHPI.

Of course, companies could increase workers’ taxable income to make up for this effective cut in their compensation. But if they were to do so, employees would be subject to additional payroll and income taxes. According to the AHPI study, some 12 million workers would face an additional $1,050 in taxes every year.

The government is counting on employers to try to dodge the Cadillac tax. The Congressional Budget Office expects the tax to raise $120 billion between 2018 and 2024 – 25 percent of it directly and 75 percent from increases in payroll and income tax revenue....

Mr. Johnsen, who is 47, said he would like to buy insurance for his family. They have gone without it for the last two years, paying out of pocket on rare visits to the doctor. But he said it is hard to justify those prices to prevent an unforeseen catastrophe when so many real-world expenses demand his attention first.

Pigs are flying, ladies and gentlemen

AP Shocker: 'Tax Bills For Rich Families Approach 30-Year High' - Noel Sheppard/Newsbusters

Imagine that. The AP published an article which included the sentence "It’s middle- and low-income families that aren’t paying as much as they used to."

...the Associated Press ...shockingly published a piece Sunday titled ◼ "Tax Bills For Rich Families Approach 30-Year High":
President Barack Obama and Democratic leaders in Congress say the wealthy must pay their fair share if the federal government is ever going to fix its finances and reduce the budget deficit to a manageable level.

A new analysis, however, shows that average tax bills for high-income families rarely have been higher since the Congressional Budget Office began tracking the data in 1979. It’s middle- and low-income families that aren’t paying as much as they used to.

Obama’s 13 Taxes on The Middle Class

Obama repeatedly promised the nation that he wouldn’t raise their taxes by “a single dime.” No, his raising them about 3000% more than that. - Nice Deb (Blogs We LOVE!)

Via ◼ The Foundry:
President Obama is crisscrossing the country to scare Americans about sequestration. But what’s really frightening are the 13 Obama tax hikes that took effect in 2013.

These tax increases, which range from new Obamacare taxes to a payroll tax hike on workers, will slow the economy. Heritage Foundation President-Elect Jim DeMint warned on Fox News last night these tax hikes have the potential to cause more harm than the budget cuts that will happen as a result of sequestration:
Most of the media is so sold out to Obama that they’re missing the obvious. The policies the President has in place, especially the tax increases that just got in, are going to hurt our economy, probably actually bring it down. The President is desperate to blame it on Republicans. He wants to blame it on a reduction in government spending. But the taxes are taking almost two-and-a-half times more out of the economy than this sequester will.
So how do the Obama tax hikes compare to sequestration? It’s a whopping $149.7 billion in taxes vs. $85 billion in spending cuts.

The good news nobody is noticing

It requires a special kind of mind to challenge the commonly-accepted beliefs, take note of facts that others overlook, and stand up to tell people what is really going on, what nobody else seems to notice. Such a mind is that of Herbert E, Meyer, frequent contributor to American Thinker. What makes Herb different from most other brilliant original thinkers, however, is that he has a track record of making calls that have changed the world, accomplishing what others dared not even dream of.... - Thomas Lifson/American Thinker

The Next Big Thing From The Official Who Predicted Communism's Demise - Jerry Bowyer/Forbes

Regarding the next big world event that no one is paying attention to:
◼ When you stand back from all the yelling and the screaming...you can see what I believe is the most important trend in the word...the world is emerging from poverty fast. This is the biggest under-reported news story in the world.

◼ By 1980 or 1990 about two billion human beings were out of poverty, since then another half billion have crossed the line out of poverty; a lot of them in India and china. In the last six years 20 million Brazilians have emerged. When you put all these numbers together...each year between fifty and one hundred million human beings are leaving poverty behind.

◼ If we can continue this trend within our lifetimes, and certainly within our children's lifetimes, the overwhelming majority of human beings will no longer be poor. This is the biggest thing that's happened in the entire world.

◼ By the way it's going to be a five billion-person middle class. This will become the most powerful force in the world. Their demand for our goods and services will set off an economic boom...I believe that we're heading for not just a sonic boom, but maybe a supersonic boom.

COMING: COMING: '$3 TRILLION TAX INCREASE ON MIDDLE CLASS'

Democrats are playing a game of three-card monte - Jerome Corsi/WND

Getting Republicans to agree to a tax increase on “the rich” is not the ultimate aim of the Obama administration and Democrats in Congress, says noted tax activist Grover Norquist.

“This is just the first act of a two- or three-act play,” Norquist said in an exclusive interview with WND....

“The reason the Democrats scream ‘tax the rich, tax the rich,’ is because they are going to pivot very soon to place a 3 trillion-dollar tax increase on the middle class, and they want ringing in the public’s ears that there wouldn’t have had to do this if the Republicans in Congress had acted right away to place a decent size tax on the rich.”

Norquist believes the Democrat strategy risks a tax revolt.

“The size of Tea Party Two is going to dwarf Tea Party One,” he predicted.
