Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King’s Dream
My favorite line from that speech is when Dr. King declared the dream he had for his children: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” I do not believe Dr. King was asking for a handout. Rather, his message was a demand that government recognize the fundamental rights of people everywhere—namely, “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Dr. King wanted freedom, and I don’t believe he ever intended for any of us, whether black, white, or any other color or group, to receive special status in society. -- ◼ Mia Love, running to represent Utah’s 4th congressional district in Congress.
