Chairman Del Beccaro's Statement on the Latest USC/Dornsife Poll

SACRAMENTO – California Republican Party Chairman Tom Del Beccaro today issued the following statement regarding the latest USC/Dornsife poll on Governor Brown's tax plan:
"The poll touting Brown's tax proposal is deeply flawed and misleading. First, it is a poll of registered voters. That is a sampling methodology that is never accurate. Likely voter polls are far more accurate. Second, it is a push poll because the poll ties the tax increase to using the money for public schools. On election day, however, that aspiration will not be on the ballot - only a tax increase. 7 out of the last 7 statewide taxes increases have failed. This year, with Californians hurting more than ever, it will likely fail as well. Brown and the State Controller should concentrate on reforming government not burdening our economy."
The last 7 tax initiatives that were defeated:
June 2006 - Proposition 82 - income tax hike to fund universal preschool
November, 2006 - Propositions 86, 87, 88 - a tobacco tax, an oil severance tax and parcel taxes
May, 2009 - Proposition 1A, $16 Billion tax increase
November, 2010 - Proposition 21, car tax to fund state parks
November, 2010 - Proposition 24, business tax increase
