Annette De Modena officially announces candidacy for 1st District Supervisor

Eureka resident and retired school teacher Annette De Modena made her official bid for the 1st District supervisorial seat Thursday and said she's ready to immerse herself in all the issues facing Humboldt County - Megan Hansen/Times-Standard

De Modena currently serves as a member of the Sequoia Zoo Foundation board, the League of Women Voters, Humboldt Sponsors, Humboldt Arts Docents and the KEET fundraising committee. She served on the grand jury for 2010-2011. Before retiring, she taught for 28 years, 24 of which were at Catherine L. Zane Junior High. She served as the language arts department chair and student government advisor, and she received a Humboldt Excellence in Teaching Award in 2010.

...She's running against community leader Rex Bohn, who announced his candidacy in June. Current 1st District Supervisor Jimmy Smith has decided not to run in the 2012 election.
