The world would be safer if the nuclear talks with Iran were stopped now.

It seems hyperbolic to say that Obama’s nuclear agreement with Iran — if Ayatollah Khamenei, in his “wisdom,” allows it to happen — will be the worst deal ever made. But if what we have been learning about it is true, it almost certainly will be.


To begin with, the agreement is said to have a sunset clause of 10-15 years. Whatever the number turns out to be, that tells us that Iran is free to do anything it wants in the nuclear weapons field after a set amount of time, assuming that it hadn’t disobeyed the strictures of the agreement before then — a monumental assumption given past history. (Ironically, in this one way Iran is not unlike other states, all of which, to my knowledge, do their best to hide their nuclear programs, including the U.S.)

The idea — if it can be called that — behind this sunset clause is a kind of bet that Iran will turn into a normal country during the time frame, abjuring the fanatical religious doctrines (global war bringing about the twelfth Imam/Mahdi, etc.) inherent in Khomeinist Shiism that would make allowing Iran the bomb equivalent to giving a loaded gun to a two year old, only with global implications. Of course the more modern view of the world is true for many Iranians now, but will it be true in the future for all or even most? Who will be in power?... KEEP READING

Last week Gravis Insights released a new poll of Minority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nevada) 2016 race and found him trailing two lesser-known challengers: state Attorney General Adam Laxalt (R) and former Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki (R).

Gravis has a poor track record as a pollster, but its results here are in line with other surveys that have repeatedly suggested Reid could be the most vulnerable Democratic senator up for reelection this cycle.

According to the latest Gallup poll, 45% of Americans view Netanyahu favorably while only 24% view him unfavorably. Since 2012, Netanyahu’s favorability rating has jumped a full 10 points, while his unfavorable rating has risen an insignificant 1%.

The Obama administration and its supporters insist that, although the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program now taking shape may not be perfect, the only alternative is war with Iran. A failure of the nuclear talks, they also contend, would sacrifice important temporary agreements that now restrict Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons.

New SAT Rules To Level Playing Field Give Blacks Huge Bonus, Penalize Asians

An article in the Los Angeles Times, which not only buries the lede but bears the unilluminating title ◼ “For Asian Americans, a changing landscape on college admissions” reveals that the SAT — the standardized test used by college admissions offices the nation over — is guilty of racial bias … against students of Asian extraction.

And for so-called students of color.

According to Ann Lee, “co-founder of HS2 Academy, a college prep business that assumes that racial bias is a fact of college admissions and counsels students accordingly”:
African Americans received a “bonus” of 230 points….

“Hispanics received a bonus of 185 points.”…

Asian Americans … are penalized by 50 points — in other words, they had to do that much better to win admission.

“Do Asians need higher test scores? Is it harder for Asians to get into college? The answer is yes,” Lee says.
