Third Way, a progressive think tank with ties to the Democracy Alliance, has removed newly appointed Ebola czar Ron Klain from its website, following a Washington Free Beacon report.
The Free Beacon reported Friday on Klain’s status as a trustee for Third Way, and his past experience lobbying on behalf of a drug company that was accused of denying life-saving drugs to dying cancer patients.

A new chart reveals the expansive network of progressive organizations funded by wealthy liberal donors, calling attention to the same “dark money” practices for which Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has publicly criticized conservatives.
The graphic, which was circulated by Senate Republicans, illustrates a vast web of nonprofits, think tanks and grassroots organizations encircling Democracy Alliance, which recommends various liberal organizations to influential political contributors.
In June, internal documents obtained by Politico disclosed a plan to have 21 core groups within Democracy Alliance’s portfolio “spend $374 million during the midterm election cycle—including nearly $200 million this year—to boost liberal candidates and causes in 2014 and beyond.”
Altogether, the chart, which is based on a briefing book included in the aforementioned documents, included roughly 170 organizations ranging from Enroll America, Organizing for Action and Center for American Progress to Planned Parenthood, NextGen Climate Action and the NCAAP. Prominent labor unions SEIU and AFL-CIO, and left-of-center publications, such as Mother Jones and Washington Monthly, also were included.

A sprawling network of left-wing foundations, non-profit groups, and individual donors and activists may be flouting federal law in advocating an anti-fossil-fuel agenda, according to a major Senate report released on Wednesday.
The 92-page report details how those individuals and organizations have disbursed tens of millions of dollars, often shielded from public scrutiny, to sway elections and public policy toward environmentalist goals.
Much of the money behind the effort, the report claims, is laundered through non-profit groups prohibited from engaging in political activity.
The report, released on Wednesday by the Republican staff of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, dubs this network the “Billionaire’s Club.”
The club, it says, is “adept at converting charitable donations into political outcomes by taking advantage of loopholes in the tax code. Numerous examples raise questions as to whether the charitable donations are indirectly supporting political activity.”
