California Republican Party Chairman Del Beccaro Response to President Obama's 2nd Inaugural

SACRAMENTO -- California Republican Party Chairman Tom Del Beccaro today gave the following response to President Barack Obama's second Inaugural Address:

"Let's ask the important Second Term Questions. President Obama takes the oath with a low approval rating by reelection standards. Part of that relates to his governing style and the issues he emphasizes. In his first term, he chose such issues as the federal stimulus bill, cap-and-trade, and ObamaCare, none of which were designed to or could garner bipartisan support. His governing style was equally exclusionary in that he barely talked to his own party in Congress, let alone communicated with Republicans.

"Will he change either of the above? The manner in which Obama is emphasizing gun control suggests he will not. If he doesn't, and he is not likely to change, then he will continue to have a very limited legislative agenda and will govern largely through executive order. That gives Republicans in the House the opportunity to drive the narrative. So the most important Second Term Question is - will they take it?"
