A World Of Good: Madera CHP officer helped make sure a Modesto woman took part in her naturalization ceremony

...While responding to an accident north of Avenue 17 on Highway 99 Ruvalcaba met 83-year-old Sarkees. Despite her obvious signs of pain, and a totaled car, she had somewhere she needed to be.

After taking the citizenship test seven times Sarkees was finally getting sworn in as a US citizen.

"That enthusiasm, her eagerness to be here, the fact that she put her pain aside and her suffering-- that pushed me to drive out here and made it happen for her," said Ruvalcaba.

Arriving in style Sarkees was taken to Valedez Hall by CHP escort.

Thanks to officer Ruvalcaba Sarkees was able to take her oath alongside more than 900 other people.

"I'm going to be American. I be happy-- very happy to be American lady, I be very very happy."

Sarkees came to the US in 2007 from Iraq....

Trump Fulfills Another Campaign Promise: Veterans Can See Doctor Of Their Choice!

MUST READ: @GOPLeader recaps how Congress is using the CRA to roll back some of the worst regulations.

To make government work for the people again, we must reform Washington, which is why this year we have used the powerful Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn some of the worst regulations from the end of the Obama Administration. Before this Congress, only one CRA successfully passed both the House and the Senate and was signed by the President. This year, we’ve already done so much more.

The House has passed 15 CRAs, 13 have passed the Senate, and 11 have been signed into law. The White House estimated that by repealing these 11 regulations alone we will save $10 billion over 20 years.

Here’s what we’ve done:

  1. The Stream Buffer Rule (H.J. Res. 38) would have saddled mines with unnecessary regulations, putting up to 64% of America’s coal reserves off limits and threatening between 40,000 to 70,000 mining jobs. – Signed by President Trump
  2. The SEC Disclosure Rule for Resource Extraction (H.J. Res. 41) would have put an unreasonable compliance burden on publicly traded American energy companies, putting them at a disadvantage to foreign-owned businesses. – Signed by President Trump
  3. The Social Security Service’s Second Amendment Restrictions (H.J. Res. 40) would increase scrutiny on up to 4.2 million law-abiding disabled Americans attempting to purchase firearms, potentially depriving people of their constitutional rights without proper due process protections. – Signed by President Trump
  4. The Federal Contracts Blacklisting Rule (H.J. Res. 37) would unjustly block many businesses accused of violating labor laws from federal contracts before they’ve even had a chance to defend themselves in court. – Signed by President Trump
  5. The Bureau of Land Management Venting and Flaring Rule (H.J. Res. 36) would further cap methane emissions in the oil and gas industry at a time when the industry is already dramatically reducing emissions, potentially wiping out family-owned marginal wells and costing an estimated $1 billion.
  6. The Bureau of Land Management Planning 2.0 Rule (H.J. Res. 44) would reduce local authority over large swaths of land out west, massively expanding the federal government’s control over more than 175 million acres of land—about 4,000 times the size of Washington, D.C.—in 11 western states. – Signed by President Trump
  7. The Teacher Preparation Rule (H.J. Res. 58) would force states to use Washington’s standards to determine whether a teacher preparation program is effective, undermining local control over education and potentially exacerbating the shortage of special education teachers. – Signed by President Trump
  8. The Education Accountability Rule (H.J. Res. 57) would be an unfunded mandate imposing Washington’s standard for how to assess schools on state and local governments. – Signed by President Trump
  9. The Unemployment Insurance Drug Testing Rule (H.J. Res. 42) would severely restrict states’ ability to limit drug abusers from receiving unemployment benefits even if the drug users are not able and available for work, as the law requires. – Signed by President Trump
  10. The State Retirement Plan Rule (H.J. Res. 66) would treat employees unequally by allowing states to force some workers into second-tier government-run retirement accounts that lack the same protections as private-sector accounts.
  11. The Local Retirement Plan Rule (H.J. Res. 67) would treat employees unequally by allowing certain localities to force some workers into second-tier government-run retirement accounts that lack the same protections as private-sector accounts. – Passed by Senate
  12. The National Wildlife Hunting and Fishing Rule (H.J. Res. 69) would infringe on Alaska’s right to sustainably manage fish and wildlife by overregulating hunting—a move that could set the stage for the federal government to undermine local control across the entire U.S. – Signed by President Trump
  13. The Title X Abortion Funding Rule (H.J. Res. 43) would force states to administer Title X health funding to abortion providers, even if states want to redirect those funds to community health centers and hospitals that offer more comprehensive coverage. – Passed by the Senate
  14. The OSHA Power Grab Rule (H.J. Res. 83) would overturn a rule that is clearly unlawful. The law explicitly that employers can only be targeted for failing to keep proper health and safety records within a six-month time period. The rule we overturned would have extended that to a full five years. Signed by President Trump
  15. FCC Internet Service Provider Rule (S.J. Res. 34) would treat internet service providers (ISPs) the same as other companies like Google and Facebook by applying the same privacy rules to everyone. – Signed by President Trump

Hillary Clinton Spied on Her Campaign Staff

Years before Hillary Clinton’s private email server ever became a campaign issue, Clinton spent a few months doing some digital snooping on her own staff.

The new book “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign” by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes (Crown, out now) reveals that in the summer of 2008, Clinton wanted an honest assessment of what had gone wrong in her failed presidential bid against Barack Obama.

To this end, she had a trusted aide access the campaign’s server and download the emails sent and received by top staffers.

“She believed her campaign had failed her — not the other way around — and she wanted ‘to see who was talking to who, who was leaking to who,’ said a source familiar with the operation,” Allen and Parnes reveal in the book. “Her political director, Guy Cecil, had talked with members of the media from his campaign account. Her chief strategist, Mark Penn, was a tyrant. And far too many of her minions had fought for turf and status rather than votes.”

Rattled by what the emails revealed, Clinton began calling meetings to evaluate what had gone wrong. The staffers had no idea she’d read their emails....

The Republican Congress Must Get Its Act Together NOW

They have the House, they have the Senate, they have the presidency -- and nothing's happening. Nothing, that is, that Donald Trump doesn't do by himself (i. e. reversing Obama's executive orders and cutting regulations in general, reviving American global power, etc.).

The Republicans in the legislature are a disgrace. They can't get it together to compromise on anything and move forward -- no tax reform, no healthcare, no nothing. They are overwhelmed by a combination of overweening ego and rigid ideology -- a lethal cocktail. What their behavior is doing is creating an inevitable situation where they lose control of Congress and ultimately the White House to the Democrats, when they had everything handed to them. Evidently, the Republicans can't stand prosperity. Or maybe they really are the Stupid Party....

So my advice is this -- Easter's over. Do something! Now!

Democrats plan to target half of California’s 14 Republican members of Congress in the 2018 midterm elections

...California’s seven GOP targets represent nearly a third of the 24 seats Democrats need to take control of the House and return San Francisco Rep. Nancy Pelosi to the speakership. Nationwide, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has identified 59 Republican-held districts they believe can be flipped.

There are some familiar names on the Democratic hit list. Jeff Denham of Turlock (Stanislaus County), David Valadao of Hanford (Kings County) and Steve Knight of Lancaster (Los Angeles County) were all targets in 2016, and Darrell Issa of Vista (San Diego County) barely held on to his seat.

New additions to the Democratic list are a trio of Orange County Republicans, Ed Royce of Fullerton, Mimi Walters of Irvine and Dana Rohrabacher of Costa Mesa.

Your federal income taxes are due April 18 and so is a fine for failing to get health insurance.

...The fine for 2016 taxes is the greater of $695 per adult or 2.5 percent of household income. Fines for uncovered children are half the amount for adults. Fines are pro-rated by the number of months you or a family member was uninsured.

The maximum fine is $2,676; that is the national average cost of a "bronze" level insurance plan available on the health exchanges. But most people do not pay anywhere near that much. Last year, said the IRS, an estimated 6.5 million tax filers paid a fine that averaged $470.

If you bought your own insurance from the federal or a state health insurance exchange and you got a federal tax credit to help pay for that coverage, you also have to take a step before you can file your taxes.

People who got those tax credits must fill out a form that "reconciles" the amount of subsidies they received based on their income estimates with the amount they were entitled to according to their actual income reported to the IRS.

In 2016, 5.3 million taxpayers had to pay the government because they got too much in tax credits, compared with 2.4 million who got additional money back. But among those who underestimated their incomes and had to pay back some of those tax credits, 62 percent still received a net refund on their taxes.

Data Show Counties in 11 States Have More Registered Voters than Eligible Adult Citizens

"The High Speed Rail Authority was founded on fraud. To pass a $10 billion bond they lied about ridership, costs and routes. The routes were total lies, the costs were total lies and the ridership was doubled to make it appear like folks would use it."

Sacramento has hidden a provision in the gas tax to divert the money from roads.

Our political elites are learning that taxes on cars and gasoline remain very unpopular because they fall disproportionately on the working Californians — which is where the majority of voters reside. And the resentment might only grow when the taxes actually kick in....

...it is now clear that ACA5 is just another smokescreen that will allow the new tax hike dollars to go to all sorts of things other than roads and highways.

While ACA5 claims to protect the new tax revenue, it is evident from even a cursory reading of the language that this is not the case. While one provision seems to restrict the revenue from being diverted, another provision provides an exception based on statutory law “as those sections read on January 1st, 2018.” That’s right. An exception to the restriction is based on a law that can be amended before January 1st, 2018.

So there you have it. Before the ink is even dry on the bill imposing the transportation taxes, the tax-and-spend Legislature has created a situation whereby the money could, as it has several times in the past, be diverted to the general fund to be spent on pensions, government salaries, welfare, the bullet train or who knows what.

The Annual WHITE HOUSE Easter Egg Roll

First lady Melania Trump gave a shoutout Monday to U.S. troops as she welcomed visitors to the 139th annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

“I want to thank the military in this great nation and the servicemen and service women all around the world who are keeping us safe,” said Mrs. Trump, standing beside President Trump and their 11-year-old son Barron on the balcony of the White House residence.

Really? After 12 terms in office it’s a surprise when a politician doesn’t run for a 13th term? Or it’s “shocking” when an 80-year-old U.S. senator doesn’t seek to add to her 40 years in Congress?

Nothing says “organic” and “grassroots” like being partnered with MoveOn and CAP

The progressive left’s grudging admiration for the Tea Party is evidenced in their intense efforts to recreate our successes. I thoroughly enjoyed watching their various manifestations of “leftist Tea Parties” implode and sink into obscurity. From the “coffee party” and “no labels party” to Occupy and Black Lives Matter, the progressive left has tried again and again to manufacture its own Tea Party equivalent.

The irony, of course, is that their current efforts are transparently astroturfed, while ours had/has truly grassroots origins. Their first mistake is in believing their own press about us back in ’09 and ’10. Headline after headline bleated desolately and desperately that the Tea Party was “bogus astroturf,” that it was the brainchild of the Koch brothers and/or Rupert Murdock (and even Jim DeMint), that protesters were paid, that it was neither spontaneous nor grassroots, and on. And on.

Because they didn’t understand or believe that the Tea Party movement was very real, their attempts at recreating its power are focused first on outside organizers and massive funding rather than on tapping into something that will actually speak to a large enough base to inspire a true grassroots movement.

Their second problem is a lack of focus. Instead of focusing on one issue and clear messaging, the progressive left simply can’t pull its disparate demographic segments together....
