Women were beaten almost as an afterthought, there was a near-total lack of empathy for even friends and neighbors, lying was endemic, and sexual abuse was rampant. Even more disturbingly, it seemed that every problem was exacerbated the more religious and pious a person (or village) became....

Yesterday, YouGov and the Huffington Post released a poll showing that large majorities of Americans — and pluralities across every political demographic — have an “unfavorable opinion” of the Islamic faith....

There will be no doubt some hand-wringing about “Islamophobia” and further calls to continue the American elite’s fourteen-year track record of whitewashing Islamic beliefs and culture, but I wonder if the media is missing a powerful, largely-uncovered influence on America’s hearts and minds — the experience and testimony of the more than two million Americans who’ve served overseas since 9/11 and have experienced Islamic cultures up-close....

Yes, they were in the middle of a war — but speaking from my own experience — the war was conducted from within a culture that was shockingly broken. I expected the jihadists to be evil, but even I couldn’t fathom the depths of their depravity. And it was all occurring against the backdrop of a brutally violent and intolerant culture. Women were beaten almost as an afterthought, there was a near-total lack of empathy for even friends and neighbors, lying was endemic, and sexual abuse was rampant. Even more disturbingly, it seemed that every problem was exacerbated the more religious and pious a person (or village) became....

While it’s certainly unfair to judge Indonesia or Malaysia by the standards of Iraq or Afghanistan, it’s very hard to shake the power of lived experience, nor should we necessarily try. After all, when we hear stories from Syria, Yemen, Gaza, the Sinai, Libya, Nigeria, Somalia, Mali, Pakistan, and elsewhere they all fit the same depressing template of the American conflict zones. Nor is the dazzlingly wealthy veneer of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or the other Gulf States all that impressive. Tens of thousands of soldiers have seen the veritable slave labor that toils within the oil empires and have witnessed first-hand their casual disregard for “lesser” life.

But this same experience has caused us to treasure the Muslim friends we do have — in part because we recognize the extreme risks of their loyalty and defiance of jihad. That’s why American officers fiercely champion the immigration of local interpreters, even to the point of welcoming them into their own home. That’s why there’s often an intense connection with our Kurdish allies, the single-most effective ground fighting force against ISIS....

Carson threatens to leave GOP over brokered convention report

“If the leaders of the Republican Party want to destroy the party, they should continue to hold meetings like the one described in the Washington Post this morning,” Carson said in a statement released by his campaign.

“If this was the beginning of a plant to subvert the will of the voters and replace it with the will of the political elite, I assure you Donald Trump will not be the only one leaving the party,” he continued.

Five unnamed sources told the Post that Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Reince Priebus and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) attended a dinner on Monday with around 20 senior party officials to discuss the party’s convention strategy.

The sources said several longtime party members argued the establishment must lay the groundwork for a floor fight in the event that Donald Trump sweeps through the primaries.

But Priebus and McConnell reportedly remained silent throughout the deliberations, taking care not to signal support for an anti-Trump effort.

Carson said if the report is true, Republican voters are being “betrayed” by their party.

“I pray that the report in the Post this morning was incorrect,” he said in the statement. “If it is correct, every voter who is standing for change must know they are being betrayed. I won’t stand for it.”

With Obama's Terrorist Off The Table, Media Embrace Guilt-By-Association

Once again proving that the institution known as the DC Media is filled with nothing other than left-wing liars and propagandists, now that Barack Obama’s racist mentor/preacher and terrorist pal are off the table, to destroy Donald Trump, guilt-by-association is again fair game.

Barack Obama spent 20 years at the knee of Reverend “God Damn America” Wright, a racial fanatic our President called his mentor. Obama also worked with and launched his political career in the home of Bill Ayers, an unrepentant domestic terrorist. The President was so worried about this relationship, he lied about it. The DC Media was so worried it, they let him.

Throughout the 2008 campaign, as the untested, un-vetted, left-wing radical Barack Obama marched to the White House, we were told again and again and again by his protectors in the DC Media that guilt-by-association was unfair, cheap, and even racist. All lines of attack and criticism against Obama on the issue of his direct associations with these two fanatics (and others), was not only shut down by the DC Media, it was aggressively covered up, and oftentimes the Republican Party was made to pay a political price for raising the issue.

We were even told by the media that by raising the issue we were ginning up violence.

But I have news!

The rules have suddenly and swiftly been changed!

What a difference a letter after your name makes!

While we fight over Trump, France closes 3 mosques, finds hundreds of weapons

The French have adopted what is clearly a no-nonsense attitude toward radical Islamist terrorism since the Paris attacks and they’re not taking their foot off the gas. As the United States continues to debate over “tone” and how to balance religious liberty and tolerance against domestic security, Francois Hollande’s forces have “cut a few corners” on those subjects and just begun shutting down mosques. At least three of the Muslim houses of worship have been closed already and law enforcement ◼ has found a trove of disturbing items among the haul. (Speisa)
Police investigating the Paris terror attacks have shut down three mosques in a series of raids to close the net on Islamic extremists, the ◼ Express reports.

Police in France also arrested the owner of a revolver found during Wednesday’s raid, France’s Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said.

Security officials found jihadist documents at the mosque where yesterday’s raids took place.

They have placed nine people under house arrest. Another 22 have been banned from leaving the country Mr Cazeneuve said.
In additon to the mosques, the French have kicked in the doors on 2,235 homes and taken 232 people into custody or placed them on house arrest. More than three hundred weapons were discovered at the mosques. ◼ Tom Porter at the International Business Times reports that the trove included 7.62mm ammunition, Kalashnikov rifles and terrorist propaganda videos. And they’re only just getting started.

Instapundit: They’re a year or so ahead of us. While we fight over Trump, France closes 3 mosques, finds hundreds of weapons. They’re a year or so ahead of us.

Rand Paul unleashes on the White House after it dubbed Trump "disqualified"

Here are the 10 reasons the Kentucky senator and White House hopeful cited:

  1. "Tried to take over 1/6 of the economy in Obamacare, wrecked the system and hurt patients and taxpayers."
  2. "Thinks an executive order is legislation and how you make law."
  3. "Fought an undeclared, unconstitutional war in Libya, turned it into Jihadist wonderland."
  4. "Fighting an undeclared, unconstitutional war in Syria, [and] trying to put ISIS in Damascus."
  5. "Signed into law the indefinite detention of American citizens." (Paul is referring to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) signed by Obama in 2011, which earned heavy criticism from groups like the American Civil Liberties Union).
  6. "His copy of the bill of rights obviously goes from 1 to 3, skipping the 2nd amendment."
  7. [A federal appeals] Court ruled his NSA spying on every American was illegal."
  8. "He has added more debt than anyone in history."
  9. "Appointed an attorney general who thinks speech against Muslims is a bigger threat than terrorism."
  10. "[Environmental Protection Agency] rules by executive FIAT trying to kill an entire American industry and way of life (coal)."

Send me that rosewood knife. I'm in.

...I wouldn't doubt the editorial board of the NYT is also aware that the policy of the Nazi party was pretty close to what they are recommending, the confiscation of guns -- for the National Socialists so that they could be sure they were only in the hands of those deemed acceptable (not Jews, etc.). To use Orwell's term this time, that would make the NYT "objectively pro-fascist."

But perhaps less harmful than our own government. Reacting to the San Bernardino Islamic ideology-based terror rampage... er, workplace violence... the first thing out of our attorney general's mouth was to warn James Comey, director of the FBI, that the real danger from this event was anti-Muslim backlash and to watch his language. In other words, don't call a duck a duck. According to DCWhispers, the order had come down from Obama and Jarrett to Lynch, in which order was unspecified, that Comey's statements should be bowdlerized. It was.

Okay, I've had it. Mr. LaPierre, as I told you, I'm in. You've got another one-time Jewish lefty in the NRA. That should make at least one of us.

"We are going to take a serious look at having a pause for the medical device and Cadillac tax," Brady said Tuesday after a closed-door GOP conference meeting near the Capitol. "Probably several years, but it hasn't been determined."

Dems Worried About Senate Candidate’s Lavish Spending of $20,000 on Luxury Car Services

California Attorney General Kamala Harris has burned through more than 40 percent of the $6 million she’s raised for her Senate run, National Journal reports. The thousands that Harris’ campaign has spent on ritzy hotels, among other expenses, has some Democrats worried.

[H]er high-priced expenses, staff turnover, and anemic fundraising have dimmed her aura of inevitability, and among her former and current allies, there’s already a proliferation of finger-pointing over who, exactly, is to blame.

“Harris’s frivolous spending on airfare, luxury cars, and hotels is highly unusual for a Senate candidate that has a relatively competitive race,” said the national Democratic strategist. “And the campaign is in the financial mess that it’s in because of its decision to do those things.” […]

The campaign’s splurges aren’t limited to hotels. Since Harris announced she would run for Senate in January, the campaign has spent nearly $20,000 on luxury car services and purchased expensive airfare—with some trips costing nearly $2,500.....
