Apparently, killing people doesn't suffice in ISIS' eyes, which is why the extremists have now turned their "loving attention" to Palmyra's ancient history. To most Westerners, destroying an ancient amphitheater doesn't make sense. Sadly it does to ISIS. The amphitheater is, in ISIS' mind, a relic of Syria's non-Islamic past. That part of history has to be destroyed so Syria can be 100 percent Islamic.

— SFGate (@SFGate) April 16, 2016
...The museum was trashed and some of its best-known artifacts and statues were smashed by the militants, who cut off the heads and hands of statues and demolished others before being driven out last month.
Bartosz Markowski, from the Polish Archaeological Center at the University of Warsaw, told The Associated Press that most of the 200 objects which were exhibited on the ground floor of the Palmyra museum were destroyed, many of them apparently with hard tools like hammers. Many artifacts have been stolen, he added, thought it was not possible to know how many.
He and his colleagues were the first specialists to visit Palmyra after it was taken over by the Syrian army, and spent a week working and assessing the damage.
"We collected everything we could. The fragments were spread around the whole museum among broken glass and furniture ... It is a catastrophe," he said, speaking to the AP in the garden of the National Museum in Damascus.
During their rule of Palmyra, the extremists demolished some of the most famous Roman-era monuments that stand just outside the town, including two large temples dating back more than 1,800 years and a Roman triumphal archway, filming the destruction themselves for the world to see....

Top 10 Reasons George Soros Is Dangerous
1. Gives billions to left-wing causes: Soros started the Open Society Institute in 1993 as a way to spread his wealth to progressive causes. Using Open Society as a conduit, Soros has given more than $7 billion to a who’s who of left-wing groups. This partial list of recipients of Soros’ money says it all: ACORN, Apollo Alliance, National Council of La Raza, Tides Foundation, Huffington Post, Southern Poverty Law Center, Soujourners, People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood, and the National Organization for Women.
2. Influence on U.S. elections: Soros once said that removing President George W. Bush from office in 2004 was the “central focus of my life.” He put his money where his mouth is, giving $23.58 million to various 527 groups dedicated to defeating Bush. His early financial support helped jump-start Barack Obama’s political career. Soros hosted a 2004 fund-raiser for Obama when he was running for the Illinois Senate and gave the maximum-allowed contribution within hours of Obama’s announcement that he was running for President.
3. Wants to curtail American sovereignty... KEEP READING

According to Rudaw.net:
They put fences and walls around them, and made them into prison camps. ISIS, or the Islamic State, has used villages that were earlier emptied when their frightened inhabitants fled the Islamic radicals to imprison hundreds of Yezidi women and children.
Former German politician-turned-author Jurgen Todenhofer, who remarkably lived to share his reporting from inside the Islamic State, puts it bluntly: He has no doubt that ISIS wants to achieve the “largest religious cleansing in the history of mankind.”
◼ New Investigation Into ISIS Terror Machine Uncovers 6 Horrific Findings That Should Alarm the World - IJReview
Upon returning after 10 days with ISIS, here’s what Todenhofer reported:
1. Every day, fighters from all over the world join ISIS. Todenhofer met fighters from Sweden, Germany, France and even the United States.
2. ISIS hands out brochures on how to treat slaves, women and the proper way in which to pray.
3. Al-Qaeda is an empty shell compared to ISIS.
4. ISIS is “much stronger” than western politicians think.
5. The Islamic State wants the largest religious cleansing in the history of mankind. They want to murder and enslave all Jews, Christians, Yazidis, and any Muslims who support democracy. (This would be akin to modern recreation of the Holocaust.)
6. ISIS terrorists are the largest threat to peace since the Cold War.

How Greenpeace Wrecked One of the Most Sacred Places in the Americas
The message is practically on top of the hummingbird geoglyph, which is now surrounded by their footprints. And the irony is thick. The future may be renewable, but these fragile, ancient drawings are not.
"This has been done without any respect for our laws," Peru's deputy minister for culture Luis Jaime Castillo told the press, calling Greenpeace's actions "thoughtless, insensitive, illegal, irresponsible and absolutely pre-meditated." He explained further: "It was done in the middle of the night. They went ahead and stepped on our hummingbird, and looking at the pictures we can see there's very severe damage. Nobody can go on these lines without permission—not even the president of Peru!"
Castillo, unfortunately, isn't exaggerating when he says the damage was severe. This is what the hummingbird drawing looked like before Greenpeace stormed in:

Brown Family Church Torched -- After Stepdad's 'Burn This B*tch Down' Rant.
Although the media is desperate to keep the false narrative alive that the family of Michael Brown is only calling for peace, the fact is that on Monday night, just before all hell broke loose in Ferguson, while Michael Brown's mother stood silently by, Brown's stepfather repeatedly ordered the mob surrounding him to "Burn this bitch down!"
The next morning, the Brown family church was one of about a dozen or so buildings burnt to the ground. Worse still, a 20 year-old man was found dead....
◼ The Brown family’s pastor tries to make sense of the fire that gutted his church - Washington Post
...No one would blame Lee — who is the Brown family pastor — if it was a bit difficult to be thankful this year. With the whole family watching his crestfallen face, Lee took a deep breath, and began: “This last couple days had just been crazy. . . . Since August the ninth, it’s been real crazy.” Still, he said, “I’m thankful for life, and for my wife, my children, our parents. . . . If I lose everything that I have, but I still have my joy, I have enough to build it all over again.”...

Antiquities Lost, Casualties of War
Yasser Tabbaa, a specialist on Islamic art and architecture, remembers taking many trips to a 13th-century shrine dedicated to the Imam Awn al-Din, in Mosul in northern Iraq. The building was one of the few to survive Mongol invasion, never mind the destructive effects of weather and time. And this shrine had a stunning vaulted ceiling, like a honeycomb.
“It is a beautiful pyramidal tower at the edge of the Tigris,” said Mr. Tabbaa, who taught at New York University Abu Dhabi and lives in Ann Arbor, Mich.
His heart fell this summer, however, when he saw an online video of the shrine exploding in a cloud of dust, blown up by the militant group the Islamic State.
“It is just gone,” he said, his voice trailing off.
Tracking the cultural treasures of Syria and northern Iraq has become a heartbreaking task for archaeologists and antiquity scholars. And the list of destroyed, damaged or looted works has only grown longer as the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, which seeks to create a caliphate, has pushed into northern Iraq. Sunni extremists like the Islamic State and others are deliberately wrecking shrines, statues, mosques, tombs and churches — anything they regard as idolatry....
But for all the looting damage, nothing scares scholars more than the Islamic State militants. “The speed with which they are moving into Iraq is really like the Mongols,” Ms. Canby of the Metropolitan Museum said. “It is brutal.”
The Islamic State and other extremists are motivated by the idea of punishing “shirk,” or idolatry. As a result, they have smashed Shia and Sufi sites, statues of poets, Mesopotamian relics from Assyria and Babylonia, and Sunni shrines that are outside the bounds of their narrow beliefs.
The destruction is also useful propaganda, proving their power, advertising their ideology and attracting international attention.
