Why They Fear Scott Walker

As I write this, the No. 1 “most read” story on the Washington Post’s website is its investigation into the college years of Scott Walker, headlined: “As Scott Walker mulls White House bid, questions linger over college exit.” - Seth Mandel/Commentary

The story didn’t come up with anything newsworthy...

The system as it’s currently set up means educational attainment correlates, in general, to higher income. But that education gets increasingly expensive, which puts it in easier reach of those with higher income, who tend to have more education, etc. As the Economist notes, “the best predictor of an American child’s success in school has long been the parents’ educational level”–though money, which is also now related to educational level, “is an increasingly important factor.”

The Democrats’ approach thus perpetuates inequality, which they blame on “the rich” in order to win national office, which they use to perpetuate this system of inequality–another cycle.

Scott Walker calls this whole scheme into question. It’s not that his experience teaches that you don’t need a college degree to get a good job; it’s that you shouldn’t need to need a college degree to have professional and/or political success. Kids shouldn’t be discouraged from going to college and getting their degree as long as the current system persists, in which it usually makes sense for them to get that degree (if they can).

The point is that the system itself shouldn’t persist, at least in its current form. Walker, then, is living proof that the system can and should be reformed, and the world won’t end. Walker is representative of the potential of those outside the liberal economic elite and those who are severely underserved by the government’s college racket and union-friendly approach to education. That’s why Walker’s personal story matters, and why it’s such a threat to the left. KEEP READING

Chapel Hill Shooting Suspect a Fan of Left Wing Hate Group Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC)

Not only was the murder suspect in the shooting of three young Muslim students in Chapel Hill, N.C., Feb.10 a vehement atheist, he was also a fan of the (radical left-wing) Southern Poverty Law Center... - Newsbusters

A quick trip to the Craig Hicks's Facebook page reveals that not only was Hicks a fan of the SPLC, he was a self-described “militant atheist”- with numerous photos, memes and posts mocking Christianity. Some posts call God a sociopath and call Christianity a “pyramid scheme.” His other Facebook likes include the Neil DeGrasse Tyson television show “Cosmos,” famous British atheist Richard Dawkins, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Sarah Silverman, Friedrich Nietzsche, The Huffington Post, LGBT Ally groups and various other progressive fan pages....

Hicks isn’t the first SPLC fan to turn violent. In 2012, the group’s “Hate Map,” which lists the addresses of various groups SPLC claims are right-wing extremists, inspired a gunman to enter the Family Research Council in 2012 and attempt to kill everyone in the building. The media’s continued use of the SPLC as a legitimate and ethical source of information is just plain irresponsible. Besides the Family Research Council shooting, incidents of death threats against conservative organizations and Christian pastors have cropped up because of the group’s much cited “hate map.” Instead of pointing out criminal behavior, the SPLC is more responsible for inciting it. Yet the media continue to use them to bash conservatives, as CNN and The Daily Beast did recently....

Another Dubious Claim from Brian Williams - I Was in Berlin on Night the Wall Came Down

Appearing as a guest speaker at the Reagan Library in 2008, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams was asked who his "wow interview" was with, or what person would fit the bill. - Newsbusters

Williams tweaked the question before responding in a way that prompted an approving murmur through the audience, which presumably was what he intended.

"What was my wow?" Williams answered (22:15 in embedded video). "I've been so fortunate. I was at the Brandenburg Gate the night the wall came down. I chipped a piece of my own off of that wall and it's framed and hanging in my den with the next day's newspaper headline."

A report filed last night by CBSLA.com, the CBS television affiliate in Los Angeles, questions the veracity of his claim --
What Williams was referring to was the demolition of the Berlin Wall in 1989, but there are now reports that he actually arrived the day after the wall came down.

Williams' predecessor Tom Brokaw was the only American anchorman to report live from the scene on that historic day.

"If you lose credibility, I think you lose everything, particularly for the Nightly News," said Jessica Levinson, vice president of the Los Angeles Ethics Commission.
(You can skip to 22 minutes in, but the rest of the clip is excellent, and worth your time, actually.)

February 11 was the 4th anniversary of Scott Walker's law limiting union powers in Wisconsin. Supporters say it has saved taxpayers nearly $3 billion.

Lee: 'Obstructionist' Dems Shutting Down DHS and Making Congress 'Inept'

...via the president’s executive action on immigration on Thursday’s “Mark Levin Show.” - Breitbart

“Republicans in Congress, to their credit, have said ‘OK, look here’s what’s going to happen. If the president wants to do this, fine, but we’re not going to facilitate it’…the Democrats won’t even let us debate that bill. They’re not willing to even take it up. They’re not even willing to subject it to an amendment process where they could change it into something that they want, they’re obstructing, they’re being purely obstructionist because they’re trying to protect the president in his unconstitutional action” he stated. And “they [Senate Democrats] are yet again saying ‘I’m willing to back the president of my party, just because he’s the president of my party, even when he betrays his oath to the Constitution, and in the process, I’m going to betray mine. That is wrong. They’re subjecting our country to harm as a result, and they’re willing even to try to shut down the Department of Homeland Security simply so they can protect the president in his lawless, unconstitutional action. That is wrong.”

Lee later added that Democrats were “willing to shut down the Department of Homeland Security” in order to protect the president’s executive action. He further declared that president is “asking all these Democrats in the Senate, all 46 of them, to join him in his plan to subvert the Constitution…they reject the notion that it is the prerogative of the legislative branch to make the law, and if we allow the president to do this, and we continue to fund him in this, set aside for a minute whether you’re Republican or Democrat, set aside for a minute whether you’re pro-amnesty or against amnesty as a matter of policy. Just from an institutional standpoint, when you at Congress as an institution, we as a Congress will become inept if this becomes the new norm.”

Just as in 2012, when opinions about condoms trumped opinions about the national debt, so in 2016, Democrat-supporting media will attempt to paint Republicans as religious rubes still fighting the trumped-up Scopes Monkey Trial.

The left seeks to seize the moral high ground regarding science versus religion – and the media hope to help them along. Republicans should fight back with both science and morality. - Ben Shapiro/Breitbart

‘FIFTY SHADES OF GREY’ REVIEW: YOU’VE COME A LONG WAY, FEMINISTS - John Nolte/Breitbart

Last night’s reaction to “Fifty Shades of Grey” from the female, college-aged crowd I sat through this preordained S&M blockbuster with, makes for a better review than anything a middle-aged male fuddy-duddy like myself could conjure. This particular packed house loved the first 40 minutes (which are pretty good). They giggled and “hell yessss’d” the wish fulfillment that comes with a “Pretty Woman”-style romance that sees a mousey nobody whisked into the fairytale world of the super rich by an impossibly-handsome Prince Charming.

During the second 40 minutes, the crowd was less enthusiastic and a lot less giggly. The vibe turned unsure. There was a struggle, it seemed, to be morally okay with what we were being asked to buy into — the story of an emotionally needy heroine entering into serious negotiations with Prince Charming, who after winning her heart, has now asked her to sign a contract agreeing to the physical abuse that will come with being his sex slave.

While she contemplates allowing him to bind, whip, spank, and shove his fist up her ass, he’s willing to consider taking her out to dinner once a week.

During the last 40 minutes, the atmosphere turned cold. Plain boredom from the story petering out and watching a promising young woman volunteer to be treated like a piece of meat will do that, as will tedious sex scenes less erotic than a “Hogan’s Heroes” rerun.

For decades, women have ceaselessly complained about a lack of access to the levers of Hollywood power. Well, now they have grabbed hold. “Fifty Shades” is a woman’s story directed by a woman based on a screenplay by a woman which is itself based on a woman’s best-selling blockbuster.

And what do we get? KEEP READING

UH-OH ----> Top advisers to billionaire Democrat donor Tom Steyer, helped run group accused of illicit payments to Oregon’s first lady

Tom Steyer’s Deep Ties to Oregon Corruption Scandal - Washington Free Beacon
Top advisers to the billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer helped run a green group, financed in part by Steyer himself, that is at the center of a corruption scandal that could force the Democratic governor of Oregon to resign.

An executive at one of Steyer’s nonprofit groups and a political vendor who has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the hedge fund manager’s political operations helped run the group, which is accused of influencing state energy policy through undisclosed payments to Oregon’s first lady.

The controversy centers on Gov. John Kitzhaber’s fiancée, Cylvia Hayes. She was paid $118,000 by the Clean Energy Development Center (CEDC) to advocate for environmentalist policies in Oregon.

Hayes never disclosed those payments, despite acting as an informal adviser to the governor as he pushed a low-carbon fuel standard for the state.
Embattled Oregon Gov. Kitzhaber announces resignation - FOX

An emotional John Kitzhaber announced his resignation as governor of Oregon on Friday, acknowledging he had "become a liability" to his state but asserting his innocence of any wrongdoing in a scandal surrounding his fiancee's consulting and policy work. - CNN

Oregon´s Lady Macbeth - Daily Beast
On the surface, Cylvia Hayes looked like the perfect First Lady of Oregon: neat, brown hair; wide, toothy grin; conservative clothing and a warm demeanor. She came from made-for-campaign-literature beginnings and had a cause to which she devoted her life. But Hayes also had secrets: a past life as the green-card wife of an Ethiopian teenager, plans to use a 60-acre farm in rural Washington to grow marijuana, and a suspicious amount of influence in the gubernatorial administration of her boyfriend, all of which raised questions about a conflict of interest with her own work as a policy consultant.

On Thursday, outrage over Hayes’ multiple scandals reached its conclusion. Her fiancé, Gov. John Kitzhaber, resigned, putting an end to his more than three-decades-long career in Oregon politics, 20 years of which were spent in the governor’s office.

“I am in love,” Kitzhaber said when asked about Hayes’ alleged wrongdoings at a press conference on Jan. 30. “I have no regrets over my personal relationship with Cylvia Hayes. She is a wonderful lady.”
Meet The Corrupt, Serial-Marrying, Tree-Hugging Femme Fatale Who Brought Down Oregon’s Governor - Daily Caller
The green energy scandal involved consulting and policy work conducted by Hayes. Reports have revealed that she was advising several state employees on energy policy while simultaneously receiving substantial payments from the Clean Economy Development Center — a direct and obvious conflict of interest.

Hayes was paid $118,000 in recent years to lobby for global warming regulations on transportation fuel, according to reports. She received another $40,000 from the San Francisco-based Energy Foundation, which is connected to lefty billionaire Tom Steyer.

Hayes used her access to the Oregon governor’s mansion to hold meetings and peddle green energy policies....

Hayes, 47, is a graduate of The Evergreen State College, an exceedingly liberal taxpayer-funded school with lax admission standards that specializes in educating slacker leftists. Of course, “educating” is a strong word. The taxpayer-funded college has no grades. Instead, professors write narrative evaluations of each student’s work....KEEP READING
CBS News Reports on Corrupt Oregon Governor’s Resignation; Leaves Out One Key Detail - TPNN

...In another long line of leftstream biases, the news of Kitzhaber’s demise has been all but ignored by old media, and there’s a very good reason.

Analysis performed by Newsbusters, ABC News’ David Muir spent only 17 seconds reporting on Kitzhaber, while CBS News’ Scott Pelley only gave the huge story 20 seconds time.

The reason? Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber is a Democrat you see. In fact, on the CBS Evening News, Pelley conveniently failed to mention Kitzhaber’s affiliation with the Democrat Party.

Rest assured that if Kitzhaber were a Republican, his party affiliation would have been shouted from the rooftops and the story would have received much more coverage than a 20-second flyover.

All the furor about Marines allegedly surrendering weapons to Yemeni rebels misses the obvious question: Why were Marines and diplomats in such a rush?

Be careful what you wish for. That is the message for companies such as Google and Facebook as US regulators move ahead with a plan to enshrine the idea of an open internet in regulation.

On the face of it, the big internet companies will have scored a significant victory if the Federal Communication Commission votes, as expected, for its new “net neutrality” rules this month. The regime is intended to make sure broadband and other network providers cannot block or otherwise hold internet services to ransom.

Who could take issue with such a noble purpose? Telecoms regulation is not usually the kind of thing to excite much public interest, but this is a cause that has reverberated widely. Populist campaigns like the one waged over net neutrality, however, do not allow for much in the way of nuance.

Deepening estrangement between Silicon Valley and govt - New York Times
President Obama will meet here on Friday with the nation’s top technologists on a host of cybersecurity issues and the threats posed by increasingly sophisticated hackers. But nowhere on the agenda is the real issue for the chief executives and tech company officials who will gather on the Stanford campus: the deepening estrangement between Silicon Valley and the government.

The long history of quiet cooperation between Washington and America’s top technology companies — first to win the Cold War, then to combat terrorism — was founded on the assumption of mutual interest. Edward J. Snowden’s revelations shattered that. Now, the Obama administration’s efforts to prevent companies from greatly strengthening encryption in commercial products like Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android phones has set off a new battle, as the companies resist government efforts to make sure police and intelligence agencies can crack the systems.

'Homeland Security' to be put in charge of info spying - USA Today
Most importantly to Silicon Valley, the president's proposal is expected to cement the role of the Department of Homeland Security, rather than the National Security Agency, as the government lead for information-sharing with the private sector.

"Hopefully the rules will prohibit the use of the information shared being used for surveillance," said Greg Nojime, a senior counsel with the Center for Democracy and Technology in Washington D.C.

Given the anger and anxiety that resulted from revelations by Edward Snowden about the extent of NSA surveillance, knowing that Homeland Security is in charge may calm concerns among Valley companies.

Many tech companies have dealt with extensive push back from their customers both in the United States and overseas over the issue of privacy and protection of the information they hold.

BREITBART EXCLUSIVE: DONALD TRUMP: MSM INVESTIGATION INTO SCOTT WALKER’S COLLEGE A ‘DOUBLE STANDARD’ Matthew Boyle/Breitbart

Real estate magnate and reality television star Donald Trump, a potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate, tells Breitbart News it’s a “double standard” for the Washington Post to spend as much time and effort as it did investigating Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s college days, when reporters haven’t put much effort into investigating President Barack Obama’s background.

“Why didn’t they send a reporter over to Occidental and to Columbia and to the various Obama schools?” Trump said in a phone interview. “There’s never been a reporter over there. Nobody’s ever found anything. There’s no records available. Why didn’t send a reporter over to talk to the people from the schools he went to? It seems like a terrible double standard.”

...“They have nothing. They have nothing,” Trump said. “They don’t even have any records at all. They have no record of names. They have no record he went there. And of course the president spent $3.2 million to make sure they don’t have any records.”

In a story before the 2012 election, the Washington Times’ Dave Boyer wrote that, “most presidents’ academic records are made public by the time they reach the highest office in the land, either with their consent or by someone else digging them up.”

“There’s no reason why people shouldn’t know,” Stephen Hess, a senior fellow at the liberal Brookings Institution, told the Times then, imploring Obama to be transparent. “At this point, it’s pretty moot — perhaps amusing if it turned out that he didn’t do very well.”

Boyer wrote that, “whenever Team Obama is asked about the president’s college performance, officials dodge the question, obviously with Mr. Obama’s blessing.”

When Iraqi tribal leaders came to Washington looking for help in the fight against ISIS, no one would talk to them until one man called and offered to help. And that man was George W. Bush.

Obama team refused to meet with Iraqi tribal leaders seeking help against ISIS, until . . . George W. Bush started making phone calls. - Dan Calabrese/Herman Cain

A huge caveat before I get started here: This is based on reporting by Politico, the worst web site in the world and the work of complete hacks who can't tell truth from lies and honestly don't even care. Politico is the finger up America's nose, the soiled underwear in America's laundry...

They are a horrible organization and they do horrible work.

That said, I'm running with this for two reasons: 1. Reporter Mark Perry actually named his source, and it's hard for even the worst media cesspool to make crap up when it names the source; and 2. It's extraordinary in what it reveals about the emptiness of the Obama Administration's pronounced commitment to defeat ISIS, as well as the character of the man whose presidency we didn't really appreciate while it was going on...

The long and short of it is that Iraqi tribal leaders from the Anbar Province, which is under a serious threat from ISIS, sent a delegation to Washington seeking an audience with Obama Administration officials in the hope that they might persuade them to supply some firepower to use in the fight. The usual Obama line is that they have to get the weapons from the Iraqi government, but that's a dodge because they know full well the Iraqi government is corrupt and beholden to Iran. If the folks from Anbar are going to have any hope of defending themselves, they're going to have to get the weapons directly.

But the Obama Administration stonewalled them. No one was willing to grant them an audience. Finally, tribal leader Abu Risha received a call at his hotel in Washington D.C. from someone who was willing to help. And that someone was George W. Bush... KEEP READING

PLF victory for recreational fishing

link - Pacific Legal Foundation

(February 10), the California Court of Appeal issued its long-awaited decision in California Association for Recreational Fishing v. Department of Fish & Wildlife. PLF represented California’s recreational fishing interests in a challenge to regulations adopted by the Department in an Environmental Impact Report it certified in 2010. The issue is that the Department is not permitted to adopt regulations through an Environmental Impact Report. Regulations must be passed pursuant to the California Administrative Procedure Act (APA).

...This was a very important decision for all Californians. Of course, the recreational fishing industry is very pleased with the outcome. They no longer have to suffer under regulations that were imposed upon them without any input. Any future regulations affecting the Fishing in the City Program or private fish stocking permits will have to go through the APA to carry the force of law. But the decision is also important for ensuring that California agencies must follow the rule of law. This decision ensures that if agencies try to covertly adopt regulations without seeking input from the regulated public and following the requirements of the APA, their actions will be declared illegal.

Why would Scott Walker ever leave college early? Did he murder a co-ed? Did he have to skip town? Surely there must be some kind of horrific scandal in his past. Obama and the Democrats ARE NOT happy about Israel's Prime Minister addressing Congress. His response is epic.

Netanyahu Statement: I’m still going to Congress

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued the following statement:

“First, on behalf of the people of Israel, I wish to send condolences to President Obama, the American people and the family of Kayla Mueller. We stand with you.

Israel’s survival is not a partisan issue, not in Israel nor in the United States.

This doesn’t mean that from time to time Israeli governments have not had serious disagreements with American administrations over the best way to achieve the security of Israel.

Israel’s first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, declared Israel’s independence in the face of strong opposition from US Secretary of State George Marshall. Likewise, Prime Minister Eshkol’s decisions at the start of the Six Day War, Prime Minister Begin’s decision regarding the nuclear reactor in Iraq, and Prime Minister Sharon’s decisions to press ahead with Operation Defensive Shield; these were all strongly opposed at the time by American administrations.

Disagreements over Israel’s security have occurred between prime ministers in Israel from the left and from the right and American presidents from both parties.

None of these disagreements led to a rupture in the relationship between Israel and the United States.

In fact, over time, our relationship grew stronger.

But we do have today a profound disagreement with the United States administration and the rest of the P5+1 over the offer that has been made to Iran.

This offer would enable Iran to threaten Israel’s survival.

This is a regime, Iran, that is openly committed to Israel’s destruction. It would be able, under this deal, to break out to a nuclear weapon in a short time, and within a few years, to have the industrial capability to produce many nuclear bombs for the goal of our destruction.

This is not a personal disagreement between President Obama and me. I deeply appreciate all that he has done for Israel in many fields. Equally, I know that the President appreciates my responsibility, my foremost responsibility, to protect and defend the security of Israel.

I am going to the United States not because I seek a confrontation with the President, but because I must fulfil my obligation to speak up on a matter that affects the very survival of my country.

I intend to speak about this issue before the March 24th deadline and I intend to speak in the US Congress because Congress might have an important role on a nuclear deal with Iran.

Thank you.”

A Jew and a Catholic Were Invited to Congress

The Jew, however, was treated differently by the Democrats and the Media. - Israel National News

A Jew and a Catholic went to Congress kind of sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it is what will be played out over the next few months. The Jew of course is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Catholic Pope Frances. Each was invited to speak under the same circumstances, but the reaction to the invitations was totally different.

Speaker Boehner invited two people to speak to a joint session of congress. The speaker didn't check with the President before making either invitation (nor did he have to). Each of the two speakers has something important to say to the members of congress.

The Premier of the Jewish State didn't accept the invitation until the President was informed; he was roundly criticized for accepting. The head of the Catholic Church was invited and when he accepted no one asked if the President knew...everyone just cheered. KEEP READING

CLINTON’S ‘ORGY JET’ TRIP TO SEE SLEAZY SULTAN OF BRUNEI!

Shocking new details have emerged about BILL CLINTON’s travels with pedophile JEFFREY EPSTEIN on the billionaire’s “orgy jet” – as Bill’s wife Hillary wonders how many more sexual secrets are waiting to torpedo her 2016 bid for the White House! - NATIONAL ENQUIRER STAFF

The former prez flew with Epstein to the Islamic state of Brunei to dine with a notorious Sultan accused of duping women into “white slavery,” The National ENQUIRER has learned.

It’s yet another humiliation for Hillary – and right after The ENQUIRER revealed her hubby’s connection to a pedophile sex slave scandal in a world-rocking scoop!

Bill flew into Brunei in Epstein’s private 727 – equipped with an alleged “orgy bed” – on May 25, 2002. Their entourage included Ghislaine Maxwell and Sarah Kellen – both alleged “madames” for Epstein’s kiddie sex ring.

Bill flew to visit Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah – who’d relied on Clinton-era diplomatic immunity to beat charges of holding an American beauty queen against her will.

That didn’t stop the nonprofit Clinton Foundation from accepting the state of Brunei’s 2002 donation to the Clinton Presidential Library – for a sum between $1 million and $5 million! KEEP READING

Don't Believe the Latest Elizabeth Warren-Hillary Clinton Poll

It's a lesson in how polls can artificially puff up candidates - National Journal
On Wednesday, the group Run Warren Run—which is fighting a quixotic campaign to convince Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run for president in 2016—released a much-hyped poll. "Huge Opening for Elizabeth Warren in Iowa and New Hampshire," a press release from Democracy for America, one of the groups supporting Run Warren Run, crowed.

And the results of the poll, at first blush, are shocking: The pooled results from Iowa and New Hampshire show 31 percent of respondents supporting Warren in a Democratic primary or caucus, versus just 26 percent supporting Hillary Clinton. Compare that result with those of a Bloomberg Politics poll released earlier this month, in which 56 percent of Democratic primary voters said Clinton would be their first pick, over Warren's 15 percent.

What's going on here?

Like many seemingly crazy poll results, it comes down to methodology.

The YouGov poll of likely Democratic voters for MoveOn.org and Democracy for America also found that 79 percent want Warren and majorities support her anti-Wall Street positions.

Obama’s Internet Power Grab: FCC Commissioner: ‘Unprecedented Involvement Of Executive Branch In Our Decision-Making’

In a completely unsurprising development, one of the two Republican Commissioners on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has made it clear the Obama administration’s effort to regulate the Internet is nothing more than another government power grab. - Arnold Ahlert/Front Page
“President Obama’s plan marks a monumental shift toward government control of the Internet,” said a statement released by commissioner Ajit Pai. “It gives the FCC the power to micromanage virtually every aspect of how the Internet works. The plan explicitly opens the door to billions of dollars in new taxes on broadband… These new taxes will mean higher prices for consumers and more hidden fees that they have to pay.”

How will content possibly be censored when the government moves in on this and treats the internet as a utility?
FCC Keeps Its 'Open Internet' Plan Hidden From View 0 JOHN MERLINE/IBD
How's this for irony? The Federal Communications Commission, which wants to regulate the Internet heavily to make it more "open," is refusing to let the public see its proposed rules before the commissioners vote on them in two weeks.

Perhaps it's because, while talking publicly in reassuring tones about how the FCC merely wants to secure "net neutrality," it's planning to do much, much more.

House passes #Senate #KeystoneXL bill

CONGRESS CLEARS KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE BILL, SETTING UP VETO - AP
The House voted 270-152 to send the bill to the president, endorsing changes made by the Senate that stated climate change was real and not a hoax, and oil sands should no longer be exempt from a tax used to cleanup oil spills. Only one Republican voted against the measure.

But neither chamber has enough support to overcome a veto, and supporters were already strategizing on how to secure the pipeline's approval using other legislative means.

Dems on FEC move to regulate Internet campaigns, blogs, DRUDGE...

In a surprise move late Friday, a key Democrat on the Federal Election Commission called for burdensome new rules on Internet-based campaigning, prompting the Republican chairman to warn that Democrats want to regulate online political sites and even news media like the Drudge Report. - Paul Bedard/Washington Examiner

Democratic FEC Vice Chair Ann M. Ravel announced plans to begin the process to win regulations on Internet-based campaigns and videos, currently free from most of the FEC’s rules. “A reexamination of the commission’s approach to the internet and other emerging technologies is long over due,” she said.

The power play followed a deadlocked 3-3 vote on whether an Ohio anti-President Obama Internet campaign featuring two videos violated FEC rules when it did not report its finances or offer a disclosure on the ads. The ads were placed for free on YouTube and were not paid advertising.

‘Anonymous’ hacking group shuts down over 800 Islamic State Twitter accounts

link - Washington Times

The hacking group “Anonymous” on Tuesday took credit for shutting down hundreds of social media accounts linked to Islamic State sympathizers.

Last month, the group of “hacktivists” declared a cyberwar against the digital jihadists after the deadly terrorist attack on French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo last month. The hacking campaign is called “Operation ISIS” or #OpISIS, Fox News reported.

Hackers say they exposed or destroyed nearly 800 Twitter accounts, 12 Facebook pages and over 50 email addresses linked with Islamic State supporters, CNN reported.

“We will hunt you, take down your sites, accounts, emails and expose you,” the hackers said on YouTube. “From now on, there [will be] no safe place for you online — you will be treated like a virus, and we are the cure. We own the Internet.”

Revealed: here's the Muslim leaders Obama was with in a "closed meeting" last week at the White House and why their names were kept secret

As you might recall, President Obama met with American Muslim leaders at the White House, but the administration was unwilling to reveal who attended the meeting, which was closed to the press. - Allen West

But as reported by Investors Business Daily, “After complaints, the White House finally released names of the “Muslim leaders” Obama met with behind closed doors a week ago Wednesday. Now we know why it was secret. The list includes members of known jihadist groups....

As you recall, it was the following day that President Obama delivered his very offensive and controversial comments at the National Prayer Breakfast. Here are some of the 14 Muslim leaders who had our presidents’ ear for two hours according to Investors Business Daily:
  • Imam Mohamed Magid, who preaches at a fundamentalist Northern Virginia mosque that has listed a number of trustees and major donors whose offices and homes were raided after 9/11 by federal agents on suspicion of funding terrorists.
  • Azhar Azeez, president of the Islamic Society of North America, a known radical Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas front group that remains on the Justice Department’s list of unindicted terrorist co-conspirators.
  • Sherman Jackson, who as the King Faisal Chair of Islamic Thought at USC, once gave a lecture at a conference in Toronto that has been described by “Campus Watch” as a “call to battle” between Muslims and the West.
  • Hoda Hawa (Elshishtawy) national policy analyst for the Muslim Public Affairs Council, which was founded by known members of the Muslim Brotherhood, a worldwide jihadist movement. The group’s former president, Salam al-Marayati, was once kicked off the National Commission on Terrorism after his defense of terrorist acts and the groups who carry them out was revealed.

Major Obamacare selling point could get wiped out

In a final push to get Americans to sign up for Obamacare coverage, the Obama administration is dangling a carrot: government subsidies many people can use to help purchase plans. - PAIGE WINFIELD CUNNINGHAM/Washington Examiner

But those subsidies could be erased this summer.

In three weeks, the Supreme Court will hear the case King v. Burwell, challenging the legality of awarding the subsidies to those buying coverage via healthcare.gov. The justices’ decision — expected in June — could result in the subsidies being blocked from residents in the 37 states using the federal-run marketplace.

...King v. Burwell hinges on part of the law that refers to the subsidies flowing through “an exchange established by the state.” That means it’s illegal to award the subsidies through the federal-run exchanges, according to the challengers in the closely-watched case.

If the Supreme Court sides with them, it won’t just be the premium subsidies that are blocked. There are also low-income subsidies to lower the costs for doctor or hospital visits. They, too, would be blocked from the states using healthcare.gov.

So, besides having to pay a higher monthly premium, low-income Americans would also have to cover the full cost of their plan’s deductible and co-pays.

Gasps of Disbelief as ‘Live with Kelly and Michael’ Top Teacher Winner Resigns Over Common Core Testing

"I can't do it anymore." - Paula Bolyard/PJMedia

Starr spoke to a standing-room-only audience at the local public library and fought back tears as she announced her retirement at the end of the current school year. “I can’t do it anymore, not in this ‘drill ‘em and kill ‘em’ atmosphere,” she said. “I don’t think anyone understands that in this environment if your child cannot quickly grasp material, study like a robot and pass all of these tests, they will not survive.”

“I have faith in my students, but my students are reading at sometimes a fourth- and fifth-grade reading level,” said Starr, who teaches 9th grade students. “Each and every day, I have to look in my students’ eyes and tell them I can’t help them because the state has decided they have to prove what they know.”

She said it’s hard for teachers because “the rules keep changing.”

Another teacher at the meeting said he understands her decision. “I’m like you. I feel like I have to get out,” said Jackie Conrad, a third grade teacher.

Axelrod confirms what basically everyone knew already: Obama lied about opposing gay marriage in 2008 in order to win the presidency.

“Opposition to gay marriage was particularly strong in the black church, and as he ran for higher office, he grudgingly accepted the counsel of more pragmatic folks like me, and modified his position…” Axelrod writes. - Alex Griswold/Daily Caller

President Barack Obama lied about his position on same-sex marriage in order to win votes in the 2008 election, his former chief campaign adviser political David Axelrod writes in a new book, ◼ “Believer: My Forty Years in Politics.”

Obama supported same-sex marriages then, but begrudgingly took the counsel of his advisers and said publicly he opposed same-sex marriage for religious reasons, according to excerpts of Axelrod’s book ◼ obtained by Time.
