...I must admit that this Administration will be historic for gay and lesbian Americans. Donald Trump is the first President of the United States who was elected as an open supporter of the gay community at large and gay marriage specifically....

Despite Trump’s vocal support of the gay community for years, left-wing gay radicals targeted the GOP ticket with their usual vitriol, lies and projection. I’ve been a Republican activist since 1984, and an active gay conservative voice since the mid-1990s. If I had a dime for every time a gay liberal friend, or a gay “rights” group shrieked that the GOP was building “concentration camps” for gays in Montana…. well, I’d be able to afford to buy one of Bernie Sanders’ homes by now....

Donald Trump is in a unique position to show that he is friend, not foe, of the millions of American gays and lesbians.

After all, he’s been open about it all along.

The case of the Sweet Cakes bakers in Oregon who were ordered to pay $135,000 damages for not baking a cake for a gay wedding, and to also submit to a gag order, seemed unusually Draconian to me. I hadn’t read about it in detail, but I figured it had something to do with the liberalism of the Oregon courts. That turns out to have been incorrect, as ◼ this article by David French makes clear, because the case never was in the court system at all.

And if that reassures you, it shouldn’t. The truth is far more threatening to liberty. Of the 11 cases left to decide, the biggest are a challenge by gay couples to state laws banning same-sex marriage and a conservative challenge to subsidies provided under the Obamacare law to help low- and middle-income people buy health insurance that could lead to millions of people losing medical coverage.

With the King v. Burwell decision expected to drop in only a couple of weeks, many in the media are whipping themselves into a frenzy over the consequences of vanishing subsidies. Depending on who you believe, between 6 and 7 million people could be affected if the Supreme Court rules that words mean what they mean, and Republicans have proposed several plans to bridge these people gently away from ObamaCare.

But there is another side to a ruling in favor of King that is largely being ignored. In addition to eliminating insurance subsidies from the IRS, the ruling would also clarify that the individual mandate that demands individuals purchase health insurance would no longer apply to the 34 states that declined to set up their own insurance exchanges. ◼ Read more here...

New Polls On Millennials Show the Future Belongs to Conservatives, But Only If They Do 3 Things
