9-11 MEMORIAL

On Friday, September 11th, 2009, an American flag should be displayed outside every home,
apartment, office, and store in the United States. Everyone should display an American flag on
this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who
lost their lives on 9/11,
their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms. BY CHRIS WENNERHOLM

THE DEMS WERE RIGHT!!
I hate to admit it. The liberal Democrats were right. They told me if I voted for McCain, all sorts of bad things would happen. Well, I voted for McCain anyway... and they were right....

◼ They told me if I voted for McCain, the nation's hope would deteriorate, and sure enough, there has been a 20-point drop in the Consumer Confidence Index since the election, reaching a lower point than any time during the Bush administration.
◼ They told me if I voted for McCain, the US would become more deeply embroiled in the Middle East, and sure enough tens of thousands of additional troops are scheduled to be deployed into Afghanistan.
◼ They told me if I voted for McCain, that the economy would get worse and sure enough, unemployment is approaching 10% and the President's bailouts and bogus stimulus packages have sent the stock market lower than at any time since 9-11.
◼ They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "crooks" in high ranking positions in federal government and sure enough, several cabinet members revealed records of bribery, immigration violations and tax fraud or tax evasion.
◼ They told me if I voted for McCain, our relations with foreign countries would be worse, and sure enough China has questioned investing in more US treasuries, France and Germany have rejected our President's suggestions that they spend more money to save the world economy, Russia has apparently forced us to abandon our defense missile programs in Poland and Czech Republic, we snubbed Great Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown when he visited Washington (and
sent him packing with a bust of Winston Churchill that had graced the Oval Office), the State Department shuffled the visit of the president of Brazil to avoid a conflict with St. Patrick's Day (and spelled his name wrong in the official announcement), the President scuttled the ending free trade agreement with Colombia (an important ally next to Chavez's Venezuela), Mexico imposed tariffs on $2.4 billion of American products in retaliation for our breach of the North America Free Trade Agreement, and Iran is getting ever close to making a nuclear bomb. It's a good thing we're chumming up to Syria.
◼ They told me if I voted for McCain, that the moguls of industry would increase their salaries and bonuses at the expense of the little people. And sure enough, companies like Merrill Lynch and AIG and Fannie Mae used the bailout money to pay record bonuses to the very executives who drove those companies into the ground.
◼ They told me if I voted for McCain that innocent children would die, and sure enough, the President lifted the ban on federal funding of abortion and the ban on using federal funds for research on embryonic stem cells, so many more innocent children will die.
-They told me if I voted for McCain, the civil rights of Americans would be put in jeopardy. And sure enough, Congress passed the misnamed "Employee Free Choice Act" which will deprive workers of the secret ballot in union elections and the President wants to institute a civilian national security force (i.e. private army/secret police) to spy on Americans.
◼ They told me if I voted for McCain, American health care would deteriorate. And sure enough, the President is pushing for government takeover of health care, with a multi-trillion-dollar price tag, and faceless bureaucrats making life-anddeath medical decisions for us.

Well, I ignored the Democrats in November and voted for McCain. And they were right... all of their predictions have come true. BY CHRIS WENNERHOLM

California Legislation

AB 32 is a job killer. This is not new in Sacramento. Those we send to represent us have been killing jobs in the State since 2001. There have been at least 100 bills and thousands of regulations that stifle businesses and they are the reason so many businesses have left California.

Our state is losing 8 to 10 manufacturing jobs a year. A Fremont manufacturing company is following GM’s path and will vacate their facility. It is clear that State policy makers don’t produce a comfortable environment for business. Uncertainty, regulatory costs and taxes are simply too high in California.

If the legislators get their way, the cost of Workers Compensation will skyrocket causing more jobs to be lost and businesses to leave the State. The cost of Workman’s Comp in Nevada is capped and is, at a minimum, 30% less than our state.

New taxes are being proposed because the State Unemployment Fund is broke. It will need over $17 billion by the end of next year. In plain English, this means an automatic $17 billion tax increase to businesses. There is currently a $2 billion tax hike being proposed, including taxes on everything from gas, internet purchases and vehicle license fees. This would have devastating impact on small business retailers. Another proposal targets oil and energy companies. According to the state’s nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s office, this will eliminate up to 10,000 well-paying jobs.

And Democrats are supposed to be for the working man. Who do they think work in businesses? A real mess, wouldn’t you say? It will continue until voters wake up and smell the stench coming out of Sacramento. by Vee Sorenso

President’s Message - September 2009

Our successful hosting of Meg Whitman, candidate for governor of California, was a surprise event and put together in record time through the combined generous efforts of donors:
Harvey Harper, Green Diamond, Security National, George Peterson Insurance, and O & M Industries. Mike Harvey, devout Republican supporter and all-around great guy to work with, was hugely instrumental in the event’s success. Joy Finley and I had reason to be well pleased with the turnout of the membership on short notice. Our attendance matched the best count at a more urban location and well exceeded other points on the Whitman itinerary on their Northern California tour. A big thank you to all of those persons contributing to what was called “a big success.”

Other projects underway include the Sunday, October 4, Republican Picnic at the Moose Lodge on Campton Road. Please mark your calendars and save that day. Chuck De Vore, candidate for Barbara Boxer’s senate seat, has promised to attend and other invitations have been sent.. Our November 19 meeting will be a social event opening at 5:30 (more details to come), so please plan ahead on scheduling for this and a first showing of our new cookbooks.

Please remember your clothing contributions for the Soroptimists Battered Women’s Shelter and your coupons for the overseas military families. Helping hands are often most readily available on the ends of our own arms. BY COLLEEN HEDRICK

Education Report

Although times are discouraging in the financial and moral fiber of our great nation, take heart. Obamanation should be over in three more years. By then the half of America that brought this plague onto us will have come to their senses and vote this pathetic “empty (intellectually and morally) shirt” out of office, along with the criminals, fanatic-America-hating bigots, and terrorists he has installed without Senate or public vetting. Look to gain many seats in next year’s Congressional and Senatorial elections. In the meantime, talk common sense to everyone you encounter and stay strong.

Cleaning up the White House has come to be the Republicans’ job. This next time, the mess will be so widespread and entrenched it will make cleaning up the Clinton White House look like a one-day job for Merry Maids. When Obama leaves, we will need heavy equipment and some highly skilled people to unravel the mess of legislation imposed upon us. There will suffer casualties in the meantime if their ‘healthcare’ bill makes it through the Senate. Rationing will be the treatment of choice and anyone outside the 18-40 year-old age range will suffer and some will die prematurely. One study said if Obamacare becomes law, 40% of today’s physicians will retire rather than see their profession be demoted to a lowlevel civil servant job. Can you say rationing with a capital R?

Take heart! There are a few things we can all do to make the need for medical attention less likely… (1) get back to a healthy weight. Not fun, but very effective. Cancer, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes would nosedive to at least 50% of current estimates, (2) get off the coach and exercise, walking being the easiest and most cost-effective, but do whatever catches your fancy! Exercise is a proven boast to emotional health as well, (3) turn off the TV and reconnect with family and friends (don’t forget our furry friends who always accept us with a big slurpy greeting), (4) read a book for fun, listen to your favorite genre of music, cook up something fun and healthy, take your camera on your next walk and snap that new masterpiece… just use your imagination and do something each day that brings you pure, unadulterated joy!

We all need to “man-up”, yes ladies, we as well, and develop a thick skin to survive this ideous plague brought to us by the media-anointed one! The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. Surely we can endure three more years! by Sheryl Fearrie
