Charles Krauthammer: Trump's Cabinet is a "reassertion of basic constitutionalism"

"I've talked to people who are seeking positions in various agencies and you know, in the past I might look at a role in Veterans Affairs or the Energy Department as rather lacking in excitement," Serrano said. "I don't think there's a department in this government that will be lacking in excitement."

Trump, for his part, is sharpening the needle he uses to stick it in the eye of the Democrats at every turn. He nominates a businessman to be secretary of State, ardent opponents of Obamacare and environmental regulations to lead HHS and EPA, an ambassador to Israel who wants to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and annex Palestinian land in the West Bank, and drains the swamp with Goldman Sachs.

This is one helluva honeymoon. Trump's polling numbers are up from high thirties approval to 47 percent — but with a 51 percent disapproval, he is upside down. Did Putin impact his election? Is this what we are going to be talking about? How about things like jobs, security, allies, spending? Campaign 2016 is not over. Can Trump flip the switch and move forward?

Krauthammer: W.H. ‘Reluctance’ to ID Terrorism ‘Hovers Between Inexplicable and Delusional’

Friday, July 3, 2015

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Since announcing her candidacy, several media outlets have voiced their specific opinions on why Clinton might not be the shoo-in some have purported her to be.

Political pundit Charles Krauthammer recently appeared on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” to voice why he thinks Hillary Clinton will lose to the Republicans in the 2016 presidential election.

As Breitbart reports, Krauthammer thinks she’s “easily beaten” if the GOP fields a “dynamic” enough candidate.

KRAUTHAMMER: OBAMA IRAN POLICY ‘DELUSIONAL’

Columnist Charles Krauthammer declared President Obama’s Iran policy and larger foreign policy “delusional” on Friday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel.

“The idea that the deal [with Iran] is going to redeem what’s happening in the region is delusional. Yet, that is what is driving the Obama policy. They actually believe that they will have a — I think it is called a legacy-making deal with Iran that somehow will deal with the chaos. It is inflaming it. The reason that the Saudis didn’t tell us about what they were doing in Yemen is because they’re opposing Iran, and they can see us handing the region over to Iran in the nuclear negotiations. What’s happening inside Iraq, for example, the Saudi Foreign Minister said, two weeks ago that Iraq is in the process of being handed over into the hands of Iran, meaning the United States is doing it. We are supporting the Iranian and Iranian-backed attack on Tikrit. In Iran they can see us supporting Iranian Shiite militias. In Syria, where the president had said Assad has to go Kerry is now offering a negotiation that would obviously leave Assad in place, and Kerry himself has said in Congressional testimony that Assad is a puppet of Iran. So, you get Iran running Damascus. You get Iran, the major influence in Iraq. The Saudis look around and what do they see [in the negotiations]? Is the worst, we are about to ratify an agreement that will give them, within a decade, nuclear weapons. their response, what they did today in Yemen, to unilaterally attack and to form a coalition, is exactly what they’re going to do in the nuclear arena. They are all going to go nuclear once we sign this agreement with the Iranians” he stated.

Obama learns nothing.

Netanyahu’s Churchillian warning - Charles Krauthammer/HUMAN EVENTS

Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress was notable in two respects. Queen Esther got her first standing O in 2,500 years. And President Obama came up empty in his campaign to pre-emptively undermine Netanyahu before the Israeli prime minister could present his case on the Iran negotiations.

On the contrary. The steady stream of slights and insults turned an irritant into an international event and vastly increased the speech’s audience and reach. Instead of dramatically unveiling an Iranian nuclear deal as a fait accompli, Obama must now first defend his Iranian diplomacy....

Change the deal, strengthen the sanctions, give Israel a free hand. Netanyahu offered a different path in his clear, bold and often moving address, Churchillian in its appeal to resist appeasement. This was not Churchill of the 1940s, but Churchill of the 1930s, the wilderness prophet. Which is why for all its sonorous strength, Netanyahu’s speech had a terrible poignancy. After all, Churchill was ignored.

As for President Obama, he never was Charlie, not even for those 48 hours.

Obama: Charlie who? - Charles Krauthammer/Washington Post

On Sunday, at the great Paris rally, the whole world was Charlie. By Tuesday, the veneer of solidarity was exposed as tissue thin. It began dissolving as soon as the real, remaining Charlie Hebdo put out its post-massacre issue featuring a Muhammad cover that, as the New York Times put it, “reignited the debate pitting free speech against religious sensitivities.”

Again? Already? Had not 4 million marchers and 44 foreign leaders just turned out on the streets of France to declare “No” to intimidation, and pledging solidarity, indeed identification (“Je suis Charlie”) with a satirical weekly specializing in the most outrageous and often tasteless portrayals of Muhammad? And yet, within 48 hours, the new Charlie Hebdo issue featuring the image of Muhammad — albeit a sorrowful, indeed sympathetic Muhammad — sparked new protests, denunciations and threats of violence, which in turn evinced another round of doubt and self-flagellation in the West about the propriety and limits of free expression. Hopeless.....

As for President Obama, he never was Charlie, not even for those 48 hours. From the day of the massacre, he has been practically invisible. At the interstices of various political rallies, he issued bits of muted, mealy-mouthed boilerplate....

Obama's Islam Psychosis - Jan LaRue/American Thinker

Of Course It Is Islam - Rich Lowry/Politico

...The Obama administration’s mind-bogglingly determined refusal to say that we are at war with “radical Islam,” together with the left’s evasions about Islamic terrorism, means that there has been a haze of euphemism and cowardice around what should be a galvanizing event in the West’s fight against terror....

Krauthammer on Obama’s Veto Threat: ‘Bring It On, Mr. President’

President Barack Obama will block 2015 funding for the Department of Homeland Security if Republicans includes spending curbs on the president’s executive amnesty, says a top aide. - Daily Caller

That amnesty action includes the award of work permits, drivers’ licenses, Social Security cards and tax rebates to at least four million illegal immigrants, despite the wage-cutting surplus of American workers in Obama’s economy.

The adviser, Dan Pfeiffer, told a Huffington Post interviewer Dec. 29 that the president would “absolutely not” sign a 2015 spending bill that would include limits on amnesty spending.

Would Obama veto the spending curbs? “Yep,” Pfeiffer said.

How should Republicans handle Obama’s threat to use his “veto pen” in the coming two years? Charles Krauthammer says the GOP should say: “Bring it on, Mr. President.” - Kelsey Harkness/Daily Signal

Speaking to Kimberly Guilfoyle on “Greta” ...the syndicated columnist and Fox News commentator advised the GOP to, “Let the president show where the party stands, and let the country know that with a new Republican president, this stuff–which is very popular–will be able to get through.”

Krauthammer: Obama ‘Oversteps Everywhere,’ Is ‘Destroying’ Balance Of Power

In a discussion on the large number of President Barack Obama executive actions, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer told Fox News’ Bret Baier that the president “oversteps everywhere” because he’s been forced to enact his agenda on his own, rather than going through Congress. - Daily Caller

KRAUTHAMMER: “Look, this is quite clear. The president came in as an extremely ideologically ambitious man. He said he was going to change America. He was very open about it. First State of the Union address, he talked about changing education, energy, healthcare. He succeeded in congress with healthcare. He did not succeed with anything else. Cap and Trade did not succeed. He loses the House, which means he loses control. He has no chance of enacting anything sweeping again after healthcare. And he decides to spend the next six years trying to get his agenda enacted by executive order, which is why he oversteps everywhere. And when you say it’s not — the federal government isn’t working, what’s the definition of working? Sweeping change of our immigration laws in a country that has not decided how it wants to actually do that. It’s working exactly as designed with the power of the president is checked and what Obama is doing is destroying that balance.”

Krauthammer: Susan Rice Turkey Gaffe ‘A Huge Embarrassment,’ ‘Unbelievable’ [VIDEO]

"I don’t know how they’re going to explain it." - Daily Caller

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer lashed out at National Security adviser Susan Rice following her seemingly premature announcement that the U.S. had reached an agreement with Turkey over using territory to train troops to fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

Krauthammer told “Special Report” host Bret Baier, after airing Rice’s comments on “Meet The Press” on Sunday, that the adviser’s proclamation, coupled with the Turks denial, is a “huge embarrassment” and “unbelievable.” The conservative commentator also blamed President Barack Obama for this failure to reach an agreement, wondering why the Turks would join a war “where the leader of the coalition is not serious.”
