Blistering: This is how Tennessee and Texas responded to California's outrageous "travel ban."



Single-party dominance has made California a little crazy.... There are now eight states on California’s travel ban list: Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kansas, and North Carolina....

Tennessee lawmakers wrote a blistering response to California.



The message mockingly noted appreciation that “California will not be sending its economic development teams to Tennessee to recruit our businesses, but we can still send our teams to recruit their businesses.”

Texas lawmakers also lambasted the travel restrictions.

“California might be able to stop their state employees, but they can’t stop all the businesses that are fleeing over taxation and regulation, and relocating to Texas,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s press secretary, John Wittman, said.

California was among the many states that joined a lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s revised travel restriction on six countries labeled “countries of concern” by Congress and the Obama administration.

The list included Sudan, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen—all of which have been deemed terrorist hotbeds.

It would be safe to assume that those countries are not in line with the LGBT agenda. Yet, California seemingly finds red states to be more problematic than terror states.

California’s cultural secession is enormously dangerous to the future of the country and is a prime example of the increasing intolerance of modern progressivism....

“We wanted the staff to see that Trump supporters are just as human as anyone else”



While it has been described as a sit-in, Tatro says the crowd was made up of paying customers and not just “people who were filling chairs.”

“We wanted the staff to see that Trump supporters are just as human as anyone else,” he said. “We live in a diverse city. It’s unacceptable in a modern society to make a customer feel uncomfortable, whether it’s a liberal business mistreating a conservative customer or a conservative business mistreating a liberal customer.”

The Mecklenburg County Republican Party posted on their Facebook page that the event was “a perfect example of a peaceful political demonstration.” The party reported that participants included representatives of the MeckGOP Board, Deplorable Pride (an LGBT Republican group), Hispanics For Trump, Women For Trump and even some independent voters. Republican Rep. William Brawley of Matthews also attended, and spoke to the crowd.

Starbucks has formally apologized for the original incident, which took place earlier this month. Kayla Hart of Charlotte reported she was wearing a shirt in support of President Donald Trump at the Starbucks and was bullied and laughed at by the staff....

Tatro said the Mecklenburg County Republican Party feels the apology was acceptable – as long as the bullying stops. He calls what happened to Kayla Hart “terrible.”

“I think it not only hurt her feelings, but discouraged her from being involved in political process,” he said. “Many Trump supporters are afraid to wear Trump gear for that reason...It’s a shame that some people only feel comfortable when it’s group of 40 people or so.”

Being a daring, subversive Marxist is one thing but annoying Delta Airlines is quite another.



...Delta Airlines and Bank of America pulled out of their sponsorship of New York’s Public Theater on Sunday over a production of “Julius Caesar” that reimagines the main character as President Trump.

…Delta, which donates between $100,000 and $499,000 annually, according to Deadline, pulled its sponsorship Sunday afternoon.

Their artistic and creative direction crossed the line on the standards of good taste. We have notified them of our decision to end our sponsorship as the official airline of The Public Theater effective immediately.”

Bank of America, one of The Public Theaters’s dozen corporate sponsors, offered similar reasoning.

“Bank of America supports art programs worldwide, including an 11-year partnership with The Public Theater and Shakespeare in the Park,” a spokeswoman told the Daily News. “The Public Theater chose to present Julius Caesar in a way that was intended to provoke and offend. Had this intention been made known to us, we would have decided not to sponsor it.”

Of course, some of the play’s backers remain. For example, CNN and its parent company Time Warner. In fact, plagiarizer and CNN host Fareed Zakaria raved about play!



The emerging cultural rule seems clear enough: Oppose the president if you wish, but avoid violent imagery, even in jest, and you don’t get a pass if you launder your murder fantasies through Shakespeare. Showing the president’s head cut off, or having him stabbed on stage every night, isn’t going to be condoned by corporate America. The Public Theater, which produces the Shakespeare in the Park plays, has been suddenly reminded that it receives city, state, and federal grants. Take public money and you’re answerable to the public. (The National Endowment stresses that it didn’t support this particular production but continues to support the Public Theater, a distinction that may not impress you given that the director of Julius Caesar and the artistic director of the Public Theater are the same person.)

So subdued was the theater world as the news about Delta spread that Sunday night’s Tony awards turned out to be almost completely Trump-free. The evening was notably short on impassioned pleas, i.e., shrill grandstanding. What jokes were directed at Trump were few and mostly mild and there were even a couple of moments of (arguably) pro-Trump humor. The host, Kevin Spacey, mentioned the longtime voice of CNN, James Earl Jones, who received an honorary award, as “the most trusted name in fake news,” then later did a bit in character as Bill Clinton in which he mocked Hillary Clinton’s e-mail debacle...

Rule 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” Actually, the AR15 a more potent weapon, but ridicule will do as long as the Left doesn't try to make good on its countless threats of violence and tyranny. Regardless, we finally we have a conservative corps that is willing to mock the members of that motley collection of pompous, inept, lying jerks we call the Democrat Party and its media catamite corps. When they turn around and try to mock us back, well, we aren’t watching their late night hack comics anymore, and frankly they can make all the jokes they want. The punchline is still going to be “And then the Republicans repealed Obamacare.”...

Rule 13: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Well, they try to. They try to make Trump a demonic chimera composed of bits and pieces of Hitler, Mussolini, and more Hitler, and he just doesn’t care. We don’t care, because we know what they are really saying is that we normals are the monsters that it’s not Trump governing that is illegitimate but that it is we normals having a voice in governing ourselves that is illegitimate.

And now we are woke, as the ridiculous Left would put it, to the Left’s tired Alinsky antics. We see it’s all a lie. It’s all a scam. And we aren’t playing the game by their rules anymore.

Busted: ABC News Apologizes ...



Former press secretary for President George W. Bush, Ari Fleischer, was interviewed by ABC News's “Nightline” and said he believes that Spicer did a good clean up job after the Saturday briefing:

“It looks to me if the ball was dropped on Saturday, Sean recovered it and ran for a first down.”

However, when ABC News aired the segment, part of Fleischer's quote was cut off, altering Fleischer's opinion:


“[Spicer’s Saturday] briefing made me uncomfortable. It was too truculent, too tough. It looks as if the ball was dropped on Saturday.”

After noticing the edit, Fleischer tweeted his original quote:



Then blasted ABC News for manipulating his quote and said, “If this is how the press reports, Trump is right to go after them”

Hours after Fleischer's tweets, ABC News released a correction to the story:

"Nightline aired a segment Monday night about the first three days of the new administration including Sean Spicer’s statement to the press on Saturday. As part of the report, we interviewed former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer. In editing the piece for air, his quote was shortened and as a result his opinions mischaracterized.

The California Department of Justice has officially submitted regulations for the newly classified “Bullet Button Assault Weapons” to the Office of Administrative Law (“OAL”) for final publication in the California Code of Regulations (CCR). The problem? The regulations were submitted as “File and Print” only, meaning DOJ is claiming that the regulations are expressly exempted from public comment.



...Contrary to the limits of the OAL exemption contained in the statute itself, the regulations submitted by DOJ to OAL go far beyond what is necessary for the registration process. The regulations actually read like a wish list from the gun ban lobby that DOJ is attempting to shoehorn into the limited exception to the regulatory adoption process actually contained in the law. Included in the regulations DOJ submitted are over 40 new definitions, excessive personal information requirements for registering a firearm, requirements that individuals provide information on where they acquired their firearms, requirements that individuals provide DOJ with photos of their firearms, requirements for serializing firearms built from 80% receivers, expansion of the “assault weapon” definition to bullet-button equipped shotguns, and restrictions on removing the “bullet-button” once the firearm is registered as an “assault weapon.”

In response, today NRA and CRPA’s legal team submitted a joint-letter to DOJ demanding that DOJ withdraw their regulations as a violation of the authority granted under the law. NRA and CRPA’s legal team also submitted a joint-letter to OAL requesting OAL to reject and not officially publish DOJ’s regulations. In the event that DOJ does not adhere to this demand letter, a lawsuit will be promptly filed....

Opt-Out Movement Forces Legislatures to Scrap Standardized Tests



...while it might not be seen as part of the culture wars, it certainly inflamed the passions of those who didn't want Washington or even their state's government involved in their local classrooms....

Monty Neill, the executive director of Fair Test, the National Center for Fair and Open Testing, said May 9 that parents pulled more than 670,000 students out of standardized tests in 2015.

“This intense grassroots pressure is beginning to force policymakers to roll back standardized exam misuse and overuse,” said Neill. “The opt-out movement and other assessment reform initiatives exploded across the country this year as more parents said ‘enough is enough’ to high-stakes testing overkill.”

Remember the university that threatened to punish students for writing “illegal alien”? Not happening anymore



Over the weekend, several Washington State University syllabi were leaked showing professors banning words like "male," "illegal alien" and "people of color," while threatening to punish students for using them.

But on Monday, WSU administrators stepped in and told the professors that they could not ban the words nor punish students for using such language, as it would violate free speech rights.

"We are working with these faculty members to clarify, and in some cases modify, course policies to ensure that students' free speech rights are recognized and protected," WSU President Daniel J. Bernardo said in a statement. "No student will have points docked merely as a result of using terms that may be deemed offensive to some. Blanket restriction of the use of certain terms is not consistent with the values upon which this university is founded.

At least three professors teaching women's studies or multi-culture courses distributed the syllabi....
