The outing to Trump National Golf Club came hours after Trump tweeted that talks on replacing the law have been going on and “will continue until such time as a deal is hopefully struck.”

He added that anyone who thinks the effort is dead “does not know the love and strength in R Party!”

Trump golfed and discussed policy with Paul and budget director Mick Mulvaney, said White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham.

Paul came out strongly against the House GOP legislation, and its collapse humiliated Trump in the early days of his administration. After their golf excursion, Paul struck a positive tone, calling it a “great day” with the president.

Just in time for the weekend, here’s some actually good news out of Washington.

Republican leadership in Congress was rushing a vote on a chemical safety bill which has wide bipartisan support—it already passed the House with just 12 “nay” votes. Next step was the Senate, where a vote was supposed to happen on Thursday.

Not so fast, said Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). This bill, the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, is 180 pages long, and it became available for senators to start reading just three days ago.

Needless to say, Paul hasn’t had a chance to read it all yet (and if they were honest, probably no one else in the senate has either).

“One of the pledges I made to the people of Kentucky when I came here was that I would read the bills,” Paul said. “This bill came here on Tuesday. It’s 180 pages long. It involves new criminalization, new crimes that will be created at the federal level. It includes preemption of states.”

“And so,” he added, “I think it deserves to be read, to be understood and to be debated, and so I object to just rushing this through and saying ‘Oh, you can’t read the bill.’”

Paul was able to single-handedly delay the vote for two weeks—plenty of time for the senator and his colleagues to find out what new crimes they’re about to add to our already absurdly large and complicated criminal code....

Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and leftists in general love to talk about income inequality. What they don't want to talk about is how their own tax-and-spend prescriptions are largely to blame.

At this week's Republican debate, Rand Paul said something that should have caught those paying attention by surprise. When asked about rising income inequality, he said:

"I think that we ought to look where income inequality seems to be the worst. It seems to be worst in cities run by Democrats, states run by Democrats and countries currently run by Democrats. .. . The bottom line is: If you want less income inequality, move to a city with a Republican mayor or a state with a Republican governor."

It's the sort of statement that normally would have elicited a barrage of attacks from the press of the "can you believe what he just said" variety.
But it turns out that Sen. Paul was right, and even the mainstream media are grudgingly acknowledging it....
