PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE: Hello! We are headed into spring: more rain, light rain, daylight savings time, bright yellow daffodils, vivid blue muscari, purple and creamy hellebores, apricot pink blueberry blooms… and our annual SPRING TEA on Thursday, April 20!

Your board members have made fine plans for your enjoyment. They are preparing items for a silent auction you won’t want to miss. They are donning their aprons and searching their cookbooks for the right recipe for sweet and savory morsels for your pleasure. They will prepare and set out a lovely array of appetizers to be sampled, maybe once, maybe twice, maybe more.

You can drink tea or coffee from an exquisite cup from an extensive and beautiful cup collection. You will have ample time to view and bid on our silent auction items. You can sit and visit at a comfortable table. You can circulate to meet and converse with those you know as well as get acquainted with new members and guests.

We hope you will don your best teatime attire and join us for a celebration of our members, new and renewing, potential and probable, plus each guest you may bring with you.

NFRW Round Table Newsletter December 2014

In this last issue of 2014, we share information about two key projects underway at the NFRW. The first is our updated web site and member database, which is set to launch on January 5. This new system will be integrated and streamlined, making the collection of member data much more efficient and timely.

The second is our initiative to attract young women to the Federation through the National At-Large Membership program and through a series of outreach tools.

We also highlight the Republican women elected to federal and statewide office in November. This is an impressive group of women, and we are so proud of each of them.

We've had a wonderful year and have accomplished much. As we pause to celebrate the holidays, please know how much we appreciate everything you do for the Federation. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

What the NFRW's New Web Site, Database Means For You
Last year, the NFRW began building a new member database and web site. Work on this project has continued throughout 2014, and we are on target to unveil the new database and web site on January 5, 2015.

The objective of the project is to integrate and consoli- date all NFRW data and web sites into a single plat- form, and to streamline and simplify the online user experience for our members, clubs and states.

A Brief History of our Web and Database Systems
Let’s take a quick look at where we’ve been in terms of our e-systems. The NFRW member data- base has existed in electronic format since 1992. From 1992 to 2003, we had an in-house database which we maintained with the files or paper reports sent by each state federation. We developed our first web site in 1996.

In 2004, the NFRW moved its database to a web-based system, which was in use for the next four years. In 2008, a new web-based member database system came online, which allowed states to enter and access their member information, but did not allow for individual- ized reports.

In 2010, the NFRW built an online shopping cart, and created a second web site (RepublicanWomen.net) which features region, state and club web pages.

Current System vs. New System
The addition of all of these online features has led to more back-end databases – five in total – with duplica- tion and overlapping information in use.

With the new system, this burdensome and complicated duplication will be eliminated, and all of our databases and web sites will be integrated, consolidated and stream- lined into a single platform.

Another problem with the current system is that it is never completely up-to-date. It takes a long time for a member’s address or other information to be updated in the system because the data has to pass up the chain from the member to the club to the state and then to national. Completing this task can take months.

With the new system, individual members will be able to access their own record and make changes to their own personal information. In addition, each member will de- termine and manage her own username and password.

The new system will make it easier for state federations to manage their member data. Clubs will be able to directly enter their member records into the new database. This will happen either through downloading the list in Excel, updating it and then uploading the new file, or by adding an individual member directly into the data- base. The club will be able to produce a report directly from the database to send, along with a check, to the state federation.

At the state level, the treasurer/membership officer will still be able to update the club files as she always has done, but now when she receives a check with a report issued from the database, her job will be much easier. All she will need to do is validate the informa- tion prior to sending her own state report to NFRW headquarters.

The new system will be user-friendly and permissions-based, so that:
• An individual member will have access to her own record;
• The club administrator will have access to the records for her entire club; and,
• The state administrator will have access to the records for all the clubs in her state.

Training Will Be Available
To help state and club administrators learn how to use the new system, the NFRW will provide online docu- mentation and tools. The NFRW Technology Commit- tee will also provide training.

January 5 is the official roll-out date for the new database and web site. Each member will receive her username and password either via email (if the mem- ber has a valid email address on file with the NFRW) or through her club president.

NFRW: First Convention Deadline Approaching

June 20, 2013 is the deadline to have your membership dues paid and entered into the database. As a reminder, to be a delegate or alternate for your club to the convention:

◼ Your dues need to be paid and reported by June 20, 2013.
◼ Your state needs to file a club/member certification form with national headquarters.
◼ You need to register. For registration information, ◼ linkclick here. You will receive a registration confirmation.
◼ You need to fill out a credential application and send it to NFRW at membership@nfrw.org or by mail to 124 N Alfred Street, Alexandria VA 22314 or fax to 703-548-9836.

Belle Starr owner, Lola (Debbie) Kelsey, has offered to give us a fashion show and some of our members will be modeling her lovely clothes. The Samoa Mansion, built in 1908, is a Grande Old Lady and has been around for many years. If you haven't seen this historic home, this would be a great opportunity to do so and to bring a guest! Everyone is welcome whether you are Republican Women or not! Also, our husbands and significant others are welcome, too!.....Of Course!

Because of the Tea, there will be no General Meeting at the Elks on April 18th.

Capitol Update

ADVOCACY WORKSHOP!

Our 38th Annual Advocacy Workshop is upon us. But you can still register! ... We have an exciting program in store! Our Monday luncheon speaker is Katy Grimes, journalist for Cal Watchdog. Katy writes hard hitting stories exposing waste and dishonesty in our government. ◼ CLICK HERE for an archive of Katy’s awesome articles in Cal Watchdog. Also on Monday our brand new CRP Vice Chair Harmeet Dhillon will be joining us! This will be a great opportunity for our members to meet our dynamic, new Republican Party Vice Chair. Tuesday our members will hear from Howard Jarvis Taxpayer’s Association President, Jon Coupal on the attacks being made on our taxpayers by the Democrat majority in our state legislature. Our women and students will also hear from Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway, Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen, Assemblywoman Shannon Grove and all of our Assembly Republican women members! The theme for our students is ACTIVISM! They will have the opportunity to learn how to be activists for the conservative cause on their campuses and in their cities. In this day and age when our students are being taught revisionist history with a liberal bias in every class, we want to give our Advocacy participants the tools to be able combat liberalism in productive and positive ways. They will be given a class on how to use social media in advancing our cause by Micah Grant from the Senate Republican Caucus. Our student guests will also be hearing from other young students who founded conservative activism clubs on their campuses. The last day to register for Advocacy is Monday, March 25th. You don’t want to miss all this.

NFRW Update

Ladies, we need you to get your membership per capita reports in ASAP! Our very own CFRW Past President, Kathy Brugger, is running for NFRW President! The number of delegates we have to our national convention is determined by our membership numbers by June 2013. Let’s support Kathy and our state Federation and get those club memberships up!!

Realignment Woes

Governor Brown signed AB 109 in 2011 which released many California criminals back to the streets. Two years later and we are seeing increases in crime rates across the state. These “109ers,” as Senator Jim Nielsen (R) has dubbed them, are committing heinous crimes at an alarming rate. Realignment needs to be fixed. The Senate Republican Caucus took a hard look at realignment. ◼ Read their report HERE.

Spring Recess

The California Legislature broke for a hard earned spring recess yesterday. Our legislators will be back in their districts until April 1st.

CFRW PRESIDENT'S UPDATE

Hello Republican Women,

I hope all of you who attended our 2013 Leadership Workshop went home feeling much more informed and ready to get to work to continue to build your clubs and create an even a great presence in your communities. We are the messengers in our communities and knowledge is power.

We are very excited with the plans for our 2013 Spring Conference on April 27 in Redding so plan to come up and join us! Kerry Criss and the clubs of North Region are doing an awesome job of planning a conference with great speakers, an opportunity to network & share ideas and the chance to learn more about the most northern part of our state and the one of the last rural frontiers of our country. There will be some Friday workshops, and the Honorable Lynne Leach will host her outstanding Campaign School on Friday, April 26.

This is the year to INCREASE OUR MEMBERSHIP! We have to build up our numbers because we have another shot at electing more Republicans in 2014 . We need to have even more Republican women with boots on the ground so we can turn Sacramento around, keep the House and win back more seats in the Senate. We must put a stop to Mr. Obama’s out of control spending! We can do it but we need to get a lot more women involved!

CFRW Join the Federation Day: Coming Soon!

The CFRW is excited to announce a project we are working on with the California Republican Party. Across the state on September 22nd, will be Join the Federation Day! There will be much more information on this in the coming weeks, but for now make sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, September, 22d. We hope that our Join the Federation Day will increase our membership and get women across California to get fired up for November!

Hello and Happy New Year to you!

I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year celebration.  We accomplished much in 2010 and overall it was a great year.  2011 also looks to be more promising for conservative endeavors. This year we need to work even harder to educate people because the battle is far from over.  Everyone should be vigilant, informed, and speak out against the progressive movement. You can do this by joining us at Humboldt Republican Women.  We must take back our country!  We need more conservatives like you running for local offices, volunteering, donating, and writing letters to the editor.  Get involved or just come to our meetings so you will be informed on local, state, and national issues! You are not alone.  We are a family.  You will realize in joining HRWF that there are many people like you who want to take their country back to what our founding fathers had intended.   We have always been a grassroots organization.  2011 marks our 73rd year!

The month of January begins our HRWF Membership drive. Please send in $30 for the annual 2011 membership dues.  A membership form is included for you below.  If you’d like to have your contact information available to other HRWF members, please remember to check the box for sharing your info with us….  Ditto if you have a business, so members can patronize a conservative minded business owner if they wish.  We will be compiling a membership contact roster this year.

HRWF has gained 2 new members!
Please welcome Lora Canzoneri and Jeanne O’Neal! A big THANKS to HRWF members who have
referred these lovely, conservative ladies to our group. To date, we now have 202 Members and Associate members.

For those of you who have yet to renew your 2010 membership, which is $30.00, please send in those dues so you can continue to receive our monthly Bulletin which will keep you informed on all of the upcoming HRWF activities and programs. Also, you can always give me your dues at our meeting. Remember, too, that although we are the Humboldt Republican “Women”, men are also welcome to come to our meetings and can become “Associate” members.

The next HRWF general meeting and luncheon will be on Thursday, September 16th, at the Elks Lodge. Lunch starts at 11:30AM and the program will begin at Noon. I hope to see you all there!

Let’s make the most of this annual event- BRING A GUEST, a potential new member to enjoy tea, coffee, and lots of GOODIES, while visiting with old friends and making new friends.

The IRISH SHOP will be presenting their wonderful new fashions modeled by several of our members. Be sure to wear your favorite hat: Pretty, Fun, or Outrageous. This is always a fun event. If you have not attended before, make plans to be there!

Our ERWF Membership Committee is joining with CRWF – Northern Division in emphasizing 100% renewal before March 31st. Kathy Rodriguez will share her ideas on this year’s membership drive at our February meeting. Kathy Rodriguez and Terry Roberts have several innovative ideas to recognize members, encourage participation and with your help, growth of our club. If you too have ideas, please share them with us.

Remember that as a member of ERWF, you are part of NFRW/CFRW, the largest women’s political volunteer organization in the nation. There are valuable tools that go with membership, the Republican Woman magazine, Canvassing the Capital, Action Alerts, Leadership Training, voter education, lobbying for effective policies and so on.

We are off to a good start in 2009 with 133 members and 11 associate members. Welcome to our newest members, Loretta Bourne and Barbara Toso.

Happy New Year – 2009 is going to be a good year. I am so pleased to have Terry Roberts and Kathy Rodriguez as co-chairs of Membership. Kathy has several new ideas for ERWF and has agreed to head up this year’s membership drive. We hope to increase membership this year so we will be looking to everyone for support to grow and keep our views alive in this community. If you have ideas for improvement, please share them.

Statements for 2009 dues are in the mail and you should receive them in the next day or so. Your early response is appreciated. If you wish to pay dues at the Luncheon, Kathy, Terry or I will be set up to take them. For those who have already paid your dues, thank you. BY BARBARA HECATHORN
