CFRW PRESIDENT'S UPDATE

Hello Republican Women,

I hope all of you who attended our 2013 Leadership Workshop went home feeling much more informed and ready to get to work to continue to build your clubs and create an even a great presence in your communities. We are the messengers in our communities and knowledge is power.

We are very excited with the plans for our 2013 Spring Conference on April 27 in Redding so plan to come up and join us! Kerry Criss and the clubs of North Region are doing an awesome job of planning a conference with great speakers, an opportunity to network & share ideas and the chance to learn more about the most northern part of our state and the one of the last rural frontiers of our country. There will be some Friday workshops, and the Honorable Lynne Leach will host her outstanding Campaign School on Friday, April 26.

This is the year to INCREASE OUR MEMBERSHIP! We have to build up our numbers because we have another shot at electing more Republicans in 2014 . We need to have even more Republican women with boots on the ground so we can turn Sacramento around, keep the House and win back more seats in the Senate. We must put a stop to Mr. Obama’s out of control spending! We can do it but we need to get a lot more women involved!

As of the February per capita we have 4 clubs that are already less than 10 members away from 100% or more of 2012 numbers, Alameda, Georgetown Divide, Napa Vintage and Tulelake Basin. Who will be the first club to reach 100% in 2013?

Our goal is to be at 4300 members at the end of this year. That is only 108% over 2012 numbers. This is a Convention year so the last per capita to count toward the number of delegates that CFRW can send to the NFRW Convention is May. Let’s set a goal to have all club renewals in by May 10 or sooner! The more members we can recruit by May the sooner we reach our goal of 4300 members If we all put our emphasis on recruiting and retaining members we can do it and lets do it with ENTHUSIASM !

If a member has not renewed send a personal note with a stamped, addressed envelope and remind them how important their membership is to your club. Make sure all new members and guests feel welcome. Never leave a potential member or any member standing alone in the corner. You are not just recruiting a new member you are making a new friend. Remember your club monthly per capita reports are now due by the 10th of each month to Kathy Rodriguez. Congratulations to the following Northern Division clubs who won CFRW Membership Awards for 2012: Alameda, Napa Valley, Nevada County, Novato and Virtual Patriots. We appreciate your hard work!

Charlotte Dahms, our 2013 Focus topic Chair, needs to have a contact in each club. Club Presidents, help recruit a focus contact in your club, or you might want to be the contact yourself. This year’s focus is titled “Federated Women Are........” We need to receive information for all our clubs on demographics of membership, and what groups of women are we missing, how do our clubs help their communities, and what more can we accomplish in our communities? This focus is about us, Federated Women! So if we don’t have contacts in each club, we won’t have a focus! This report can be a very useful tool to help us reach out to more potential members and help us create an even greater presence in our communities. Remember we are the messengers and it is up to all of us to let our communities know who we are as Federated Women.

Congratulations to the following Northern Division Federated Women on their recent outstanding accomplishments. Nan Lesnick , Past President of Monterey Peninsula RWF, was elected County Chair of Monterey County Republican Party. Even more exciting, Nan ran unopposed and she is the first woman county chair for Monterey County. Monterey County Republicans will be doing great things with Nan as their County Chair. Sue Caro, member / Past President of Piedmont Area RWF, reelected Alameda County Republican Party Chair and Becky Kolberg, member / Past President of San Ramon Valley RWF, reelected Contra Costa County Republican Party Chair. Kathy Rodriguez, has been appointed a Bergeson Scholar for the Marion Bergeson Excellence in Public Service Series. This program trains Republican women to run for office or work in politics on all levels.

Thank you Northern Division members for all you do!

Roseann Slonsky-Breault

President, CFRW-Northern Division
