Teach for America's Professional Agitators

It's increasingly difficult to tell the difference between Teach for America -- whose leaders are at the forefront of inflammatory anti-police protests in Baltimore, Ferguson, and now McKinney, Texas -- and left-wing activist groups such as Organizing for Action (President Obama's partisan community organizing army).

Guess what, taxpayers? You're paying for it!

Wendy Kopp founded Teach for America in 1989 after writing her Princeton University thesis on the need for a "national teaching corps" of elite college grads who would serve students on short-term stints in low-income neighborhoods. The do-gooder group has exploded into a massive, nonprofit business.

“Senate Democrats have long been funded by a group of billionaires bent on maintaining their power, yet they pretend to be outraged”

The Left’s Political Network, Exposed in One Chart

◼ The vast network associated with Democracy Alliance includes at least 182 progressive organizations. - Gabriella Morrongiello/Daily Signsl

A new chart reveals the expansive network of progressive organizations funded by wealthy liberal donors, calling attention to the same “dark money” practices for which Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has publicly criticized conservatives.

The graphic, which was circulated by Senate Republicans, illustrates a vast web of nonprofits, think tanks and grassroots organizations encircling Democracy Alliance, which recommends various liberal organizations to influential political contributors.

In June, internal documents obtained by Politico disclosed a plan to have 21 core groups within Democracy Alliance’s portfolio “spend $374 million during the midterm election cycle—including nearly $200 million this year—to boost liberal candidates and causes in 2014 and beyond.”

Altogether, the chart, which is based on a briefing book included in the aforementioned documents, included roughly 170 organizations ranging from Enroll America, Organizing for Action and Center for American Progress to Planned Parenthood, NextGen Climate Action and the NCAAP. Prominent labor unions SEIU and AFL-CIO, and left-of-center publications, such as Mother Jones and Washington Monthly, also were included.

Big Brother Is Watching: Obama's Latest Scheme Is His Most Terrifying Yet

◼ Conservatives kick-start government’s $1 million #Truthy ‘misinformation’ database - TWITCHY

Anyone nostalgic for the Obama campaign’s “Attack Watch” project will be heartened to know that the federal government plans to spend $1 million to create a “Truthy” database that will track “false and misleading ideas” on social media. ◼ The Washington Free Beacon reports:
The National Science Foundation is financing the creation of a web service that will monitor “suspicious memes” and what it considers “false and misleading ideas,” with a major focus on political activity online.

The “Truthy” database, created by researchers at Indiana University, is designed to “detect political smears, astroturfing, misinformation, and other social pollution.”

The university has received $919,917 so far for the project.

“Truthy” claims to be non-partisan. However, the project’s lead investigator Filippo Menczer proclaims his support for numerous progressive advocacy groups, including President Barack Obama’s Organizing for Action, Moveon.org, Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, Amnesty International, and True Majority.

Is the eternal campaign coming to an end?

◼ Say Goodbye to OFA - Weekly Standard

That’s campaigning and that’s what Organizing for America was meant to do. Keep on campaigning, even after the candidate has won the election and was in Washington...

It was, as Philip Bump of the Washington Post reports:
… designed to essentially be the Obama presidential campaign, made eternal. "Obama For America" became the non-profit "Organizing For Action" early last year, with the hope of continuing the campaign's energy, organizing, and fundraising prowess to generate support for the president's policy positions.
Now, the organization has:
… told donors that it will stop requesting large contributions this year, even as it has reportedly shed half of its staff.
◼ 'DONOR FATIGUE' RISES AS OBAMA FAILS TO PRODUCE RESULTS - Robert Wilde/Breitbart

According to The Hill, the beleaguered supporters of the President are frustrated by the White House’s continued requests for donations, for which they get nothing in return. On Monday night, Obama orchestrated his 22nd fundraiser of 2014 and his 60th since he won the election in 2012. One Democratic strategist observed, “There’s definitely some donor fatigue in a lukewarm environment… They are tired of giving and giving and they know there’s not much more the president can do.”

Bombshell: Emails Show Democrat on Oversight Committee was Working With Lois Lerner to Target True the Vote (Update: Engelbrecht Reacts)

◼ Emails released today by the House Government Oversight and Reform Committee show that Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) has some explaining to do. - PJ Media

...Cummings has stonewalled the investigation throughout, while President Obama has claimed that there wasn’t even a “smidgen of corruption” in it.

The communication between Lerner and Cummings and his staff shows that the IRS and Cummings made numerous requests for virtually identical information from True the Vote, the Houston-based group dedicated to improving election integrity and rooting out election fraud. That Cummings and the IRS sought nearly identical information raises the strong probability of collusion between the government agency and the Democrats on the House Government Oversight and Reform Committee.

Did Rep. Cummings lie during the committee hearings?

Update: True the Vote president Catherine Engelbrecht reacts in a press statement:
“Elijah Cummings has blocked the IRS abuse investigation all along. We now see clearly that two branches of government have colluded to target and silence private citizens.

“America has come to a tipping point,” Engelbrecht said. “No more lies. No more cover-ups. No more collusion. Enough is enough. Finally, we have a chance for the rule of law to be re-established, thanks to the bold efforts of Chairman Issa and Rep. Jordan.”

Engelbrecht added, “We filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Cummings in February. Today we’re amending that filing to include this latest revelation. As I have said in my testimony before Congress; I will not retreat, I will not surrender, I will not be intimidated. I will not ask Rep. Cummings, Lois Lerner, Barack Obama, or anyone else, for permission to exercise my constitutional rights.”
◼ DIRTY HANDS: Emails Reveal Democrat Ranking Member, Elijah Cummings, on Investigative Committee is Also Guilty in IRS Scandal... - Red Flag

◼ Obama’s Watergate moment is here - Flopping Aces

Back in June of 2013 Elijah Cummings declared the IRS investigation over, despite the continued stonewalling of the Obama administration:
Based upon everything I’ve seen, the case is solved. If it were me, I would wrap this case up and move on, to be frank with you. The IG made some recommendations, those recommendations are being adopted by the IRS, we’ve got a new commissioner in, acting commissioner in, Danny Werfel is doing a great job, I think we’re in great shape.
Last month all of the democrat members of the House Oversight Committee demanded Darryl Issa end the IRS investigation.

Now we know why, and why the next public word out of Cummings’ mouth will be “racism.”

Cummings pushed the IRS to harass True the Vote.

More Obama Propaganda Revealed:

◼ ‘Pajama boy’ is an OFA employee who attended UW-Madison - HotAir

Of course he is. The Washington Examiner’s Charlie Spiering lands, er, “the scoop:”

It looks like he hurriedly deleted his Twitter account, too. You embarrassed, bro? Mr. Krupp appears to have graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison just last winter, suggesting that he may be eligible to remain on his parents’ healthcare plan for several more years under Obamacare. Why would such a “child” need to have “the talk” with his parents?

◼ Meet Ethan Krupp: Pajamacare boy and Organizing for Action employee - Charlie Spiering/Washington Examiner @CharlieSpiering

Friday, December 20, 2013

Well, isn't this interesting. ...both the official Barack Obama and Organizing for America Twitter accounts have shifted their messaging from touting the benefits and success stories of Obamacare (few as they may be), to scare-whoring the costs of repealing the law.

◼ "The Costs of Repeal" - JohnE/Ace Of Spades (image source)

I'm not sure if they're seeing disastrous internal polling or if this is a shot at the increasingly-weak knees of several red state Democrat Senators up for reelection next year, but either way, this is not exactly a position of strength. Repealing our signature law that is creating nationwide disruptions and confusion will likely cause more disruptions and confusion! Sure, run with that. Also, the website will be faster. Huzzah.

If you're explaining, you're losing, as they say.

◼ The Obama Who Stole Thanksgiving - Daniel Greenfield/FrontPage

Because there’s nothing that says “family time” like teaching people to hijack family dinners to become used health care salesmen; BarackObama.com offers sales tips like “Make it memorable,” “Be Persistent, but keep it positive” and “Find a quiet place.” That last tip will prevent other family members from hearing their screams of horror at the size of their new ObamaCare premiums and deductibles....

Doing its best to make ObamaCare seem like a creepy cult, Obama supporters are instructed to badger family members with cries of “Have you thought about signing up,” “Would you like to sign up now,” “When do you plan on signing up” and “Have you signed up yet.”

The only thing missing is; “If you don’t sign up for ObamaCare; I won’t love you anymore.”

But it’s not just Organizing for America, the rebirth of Obama’s 2012 campaign as a mutated Super PAC, that is working on ruining your Thanksgiving. MSNBC, the Los Angeles Times, the Huffington Post and the Washington Post have also gotten into the Thanksgiving Knockout Game....

The Los Angeles Times offers the only honestly dishonest liberal debating guide with debate tips like “Flatter your opponent,” “Argue by anecdote” and “Call out the other person for arguing by anecdote.”

And if any family members get sick of your Los Angeles Times approved plan to hijack Thanksgiving by coming to a prepared debate with an assistant to look up things for you on a smartphone while you anecdotally compare Republicans to Hitler; the Los Angeles Times also offers tips for handling “annoying peacekeepers” who say things like “Why don’t we just try to have a nice time on Thanksgiving?”

◼ As In Every Year Past, Obama's Elder Minions Urge Lesser Minions to Fight With Their Families At Thanksgiving Dinners - Ace Of Spades
It truly is insidious, I think, this devotion to cause such that one would seriously -- earnestly! -- urge others to fight with family in order to advance a political goal.

It's not just about the casual denigration of the family in favor of the Real Family, which is of course like-minded socialists in the Progressive Cult. It is that, but it's not just that.

◼ Because there’s no reason every Thanksgiving table in America can’t double as a re-education camp. - Doug Powers/Michelle Malkin

◼ Liberals have a different view of Thanksgiving - Betsy's Page
What kind of view of the family do liberals have that they are urging their followers to take advantage of Thanksgiving get-togethers to propagandize their family with "the talk." When I was growing up, "the talk" was not something that happened at the dinner table and it didn't concern health insurance. It certainly didn't include people downloading talking points from the President's activism website to have that "talk." But times change.

The DCCC also has recommendations for to say for that "crazy Tea Party Relative (or two) who just loves bashing President Obama" that "we all have." My experience is that liberals are much more likely to bring up their political opinions and just assume that everyone agrees with them....
◼ Now, as John E at Ace points out, the administration and their supporters are coordinating discussions about Obamacare. John E. Points to similar posts at the Huffington Post, Slate, and the Washington Post about how to counter criticisms they might hear about Obamacare from their "crazy uncle." And they're not the only liberals who see Thanksgiving as a political opportunity to sway minds. ◼ Mayor Bloomberg's gun-control group is pushing table placemats to push a message about the need for stricter gun-control laws....

◼ Get stuffed: Dems pimp ‘guide to talking politics with your Republican uncle’ - Twitchy
You know, you’ve gotta hand it to the Dems. Just when you thought they’d out-jackassed themselves with their ridiculous guides to peddling Obamacare at the Thanksgiving table, they found a sure-fire way to piss off your family even more: Explain to your Republican relatives “who spend way too much time listening to Rush Limbaugh” that they’re also ignorant and wrong about economics, immigration, and climate change!

◼ OBAMA'S ORWELLIAN THANKSGIVING - Joel Pollak//Breitbart

The idea that politics must be brought into every family discussion and every personal relationship has been a hallmark of Obama’s style since the 2008 campaign, when he told his supporters to confront their neighbors, to get “in their face.” During the debate over Obamacare in 2009-10, the White House did the same--and provided an email address, flag@whitehouse.gov, to which people could report “lies” among their friends.

One of those “lies” was that people could lose their insurance coverage due to the new law--a “lie” that has since proven true for millions of Americans. Clearly, Obama’s talking points have a short shelf life. Yet he remains undeterred, as are many of his followers, in imposing politics on intimacy. In 2009, supporters of Obamacare even encouraged each other to withhold sex from partners who did not support passage of the troubled law.....

It is worth remembering that Thanksgiving was founded as a celebration of freedom by those who had escaped government repression. They recognized that the bounty of the New World went hand-in-hand with faith and liberty--something our present would-be masters have forgotten.

1) Healthcare.gov may suck, but state exchanges are performing really well.
No, most of them aren’t.;;;
2) The website’s problem is demand and once the front-end problems are fixed, it’ll work great.
No, it’s not – in fact, the website couldn’t even handle 500 visitors without problems according to internal documents from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, released in hearings last week (the all-caps emails are the best ones)....
3) Only a few young and healthy people will pay more – for most people, they will keep their plans or have something better.
No, actually, premiums are going up just about everywhere, and for most people.

RIGGING THE FUTURE: Obamacare Creates 50 New State Databases With No Function Beyond Gathering Potential Voter Information, Real or Fraudulent

◼ David Steinberg reports on a series of precise, brilliant, secretive, and illegal decisions by Obamacare authors that led to the creation of 50 unbeatable election tools — and to nothing else. - David Steinberg/PJMedia

(This is Part One of a two-part article.) READ THE WHOLE THING AT THE LINK.

It was never just a health care “fix” ...

Since the passage of Obamacare, all fifty state Medicaid agencies have been forced to create a new standalone database that contains nothing besides the contact information of Medicaid applicants who used Healthcare.gov.

Some of these new databases mail out voter registration forms automatically. You cannot refuse them.

No worthwhile verification occurs before the forms are mailed. Apply for Medicaid and the form will be mailed to you, be you a verifiable citizen or Ayman al-Zawahiri on a computer in Pakistan.

Further, these new databases are accessible by groups like Organizing for Action, the reconstituted ACORN, and malevolent figures like Chris Tarango.

And no reasonable purpose exists for creating the databases besides making them available to the aforementioned Democratic activists.

...One source involved in the recently initiated legal battle to expose and dismantle the databases described the situation as follows:
Evil genius.

A complete disregard for certain federal law, the skirting of others, the exploitation of existing Medicaid structures, the issuing of rules and regulations with virtually none of the required paper trail. …

Just evil genius. They friggin’ thought of everything.
Among sources reached for this article, that phrase “evil genius” was employed when referring to what Obamacare requires of state Medicaid entities; we were told its usage has become commonplace....

Decision #4: The Parting of Data

As instructed, each state designed these new stand-alone databases to be dedicated to storing only the identifying information of Healthcare.gov applicants — but no medical data.

If you happen to be familiar with the basics of both health care and election law, perhaps your pupils just grew wide. Because you are aware that medical records are treated by the law as private and sacrosanct, but voter rolls, consisting of only identifying information, are publicly accessible.

To summarize:
The federal government instructed states that they could not send any applicant data entered into the Medicaid side of Healthcare.gov to their traditional eligibility screeners,

They then instructed state Medicaid agencies to create stand-alone databases for this new applicant information, and that these new databases would be forbidden from containing any medical information.

Per an incorrect application of Motor Voter law, the Obama administration considers the Medicaid side of Healthcare.gov to be a public assistance “office,” and as such, required to offer voter registration services.

The Obama administration also considers it legal to treat the distribution of voter registration forms as “must opt-out,” instead of “must opt-in.”

These four bullet points are the basis of Decision #5.

Decision #5: The Illegal, Automatic Mailing of Voter Registration Forms and “Opt-Out” Forms

States were instructed that, to comply with Motor Voter, these new databases must automatically mail voter registration forms to each new individual applicant sent over from Healthcare.gov.

Recall, you may have said “no” earlier. It doesn’t matter.

The new databases must also mail a second form that states “I do not wish to register to vote,” which you must sign and return.

Otherwise, it is assumed you wish to register.

If the Feds notice you still haven’t replied?

Remember Decision #4: the new databases are publicly accessible, since they do not contain any medical information.

Anyone – perhaps Organizing for Action, or Battleground Texas – can get their hands on it, and then show up at your door with yet another form.

What a coincidence: Single ObamaCare success story is … OFA volunteer

◼ Allahpundit told the story yesterday about how our intrepid national media searched high and low in this nation of 330 million people to find someone, anyone who could figure out how to actually buy coverage through the ObamaCare exchanges. - HotAir

After putting out an SOS, the Washington Post finally found Chad Henderson, and so did the Wall Street Journal, Chattanooga Times/Free Press, the Huffington Post, and even “POLITICO!“, as Henderson himself announced later yesterday. That had Mediaite’s Noah Rothman a little suspicious:
It turns out Henderson’s knowledge of OFA was not the result of his astuteness or political acumen. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a current OFA volunteer. Maybe those many media outlets who spoke with him will make note of this seemingly relevant fact.
OFA? You mean Organizing for America, which spent the last year stuffing e-mail inboxes with an avalanche of missives about just how easy and wonderful ObamaCare would be? That OFA?

OBAMA'S CAMPAIGN APPARATUS OFA Fail: No Immigration Reform Activists Show Up For Republican´s Town Hall

◼ Republicans are getting very little heat on comprehensive immigration reform at their August town halls, reports USA Today. - Debra Heine/Breitbart

One example cited is Rep. Frank LoBiondo, who represents a South Jersey congressional district with a large Hispanic population and farmlands that employ migrant workers. He said in an interview, "it's not coming up. It is a big issue nationally, but in this district it's just not something on people's minds."

LoBiondo is exactly the type of congressman immigration advocates like Senator Lindsey Graham said should be targeted over the August recess.

But people in his district are more concerned with "the economy, the implementation of Obama's health care law, unrest in the Middle East and even how to improve local infrastructure to ease traffic to the Jersey shore."
