Sebelius: Clinton WH Doubled Down On 'Abusive Behavior'... 'Went after women who came forward'...

"Not only did people look the other way, but they went after the women who came forward and accused him," says Kathleen Sebelius, the former secretary of Health and Human Services and Kansas governor. "And so it doubled down on not only bad behavior but abusive behavior. And then people attacked the victims."

Sebelius extended her criticism to Hillary Clinton, and the Clinton White House for what she called a strategy of dismissing and besmirching the women who stepped forward—a pattern she said is being repeated today by alleged perpetrators of sexual assault—saying that the criticism of the former first lady and Secretary of State was "absolutely" fair. Sebelius noted that the Clinton Administration's response was being imitated, adding that "you can watch that same pattern repeat, It needs to end. It needs to be over."

5 OBAMA OFFICIALS WHO LIED, THEN LIED ABOUT LYING

Last week, National Security Advisor Susan Rice appeared on the Sunday shows to do what she does best: lie. She told the American public that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, for whom President Obama had exchanged five top Taliban commanders, had served with “honor and distinction.”

...Here are four other officials and former officials in Obamaland who have blatantly lied to the American public, then suggested that they weren’t liars at all:
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Clapper testified before Congress in 2012 that the NSA was not collecting “any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans.” Clapper later said he had misspoken, after information from Edward Snowden proved that he had been lying. “I responded in what I thought was the most truthful, or least untruthful, manner,” Clapper stated, later justifying that pathetic excuse by stating that the information was classified.

Attorney General Eric Holder. In 2013, Holder testified before Congress that he would not prosecute any reporter under the Espionage Act of 1917. “In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material,” he stated, “this is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy.” Except that Holder himself personally approved an application for a warrant on Fox News’s James Rosen under the auspices of the Espionage Act. The Department of Justice then backed Holder’s lie, stating, “The search warrant application… was focused on obtaining evidence relating to allegations that a government official had leaked highly classified information, which was a threat to our national security.”

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.
In March 2014, Sebelius testified that she had no information as to how many Obamacare enrollees had actually paid their first premiums. Sebelius stated angrily, “This is not Medicare or Medicaid, sir, it’s a private plan. People are buying a product in the private market. Consumers don’t pay us, they pay their insurance company, and we don’t have that information right now.” But insurers said Sebelius was incorrect.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Hillary told Congress – not under oath – that “we didn’t have a clear picture” of what had happened in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. She then said there were “no delays in decision-making, no denials of support from Washington or from our military.” And she said she had not seen requests for more security. Those statements were, at best, questionable. But Hillary’s sticking to them all, instead maintaining that she is a victim of a smear.
Apparently, it was lying when the Bush administration reported the best available intelligence about Iraq. It isn’t lying when the Obama administration knows better but lies. Glad we got that straight.

It was probably never about Bowe Bergdahl - David Limbaugh/Washington Examiner

For Obama to have rushed into this exchange at all reveals his warped mindset, but to do it against the advice of senators, the Pentagon and certain White House aides makes it very likely that he had an ulterior motive that had nothing to do with Bergdahl.

If Obama had been angling for a wise exchange, he wouldn't have had to sidestep Congress, and he wouldn't have had to cover up the truth about Bergdahl — possibly removing evidence of his desertion from the classified files and rewriting his history as a hero and as one who was in desperately ill health.

But once again, Obama has painted himself in a corner with arrogance-colored paint, which has necessitated a massive propaganda campaign to justify his actions. Once again, he sent Susan Rice out to lie for him, and once again, his aides have had to walk back what she said.

BREAKING: Healthcare.gov Fumbler Kathleen Sebelius Resigns as Secretary of HHS

The President is set to nominate Sylvia Mathews Burwell, director of the Office of Management and Budget, as her replacement. - IJ Review

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement:
Secretary Sebelius oversaw a disastrous rollout of ObamaCare, but anyone can see that there are more problems on the way. The next HHS Secretary will inherit a mess—Americans facing rising costs, families losing their doctors, and an economy weighed down by intrusive regulations.

No matter who is in charge of HHS, ObamaCare will continue to be a disaster and will continue to hurt hardworking Americans. It’s time for President Obama to admit that Democrats’ signature law is a failure and heed Republican calls for patient-centered healthcare reform.”

So they hit their target of seven million sign-ups and she’s still out the door before the dust settles, eh? Seems … not so triumphant. - Allahpundit/HotAir
Allegedly she jumped rather than waiting to be pushed, but the Times catches something I missed last week. She wasn’t at the Rose Garden ceremony where O declared Mission Accomplished after they hit seven million. Hard to believe she wouldn’t want to be there to join the victory lap after taking so much grief from so many sides for so long over the website. Was she not invited?

Not since New Coke has there been an advertising campaign so well-funded and so ineffective.

Obama's Rose Garden phony numbers 'tell' - Thomas Lifson/American Thinker

The April Fool’s Day show put on in the Rose Garden yesterday was no triumph, but rather an act of desperation, touting “enrollment” numbers generated without any transparency, intended to arrest the downward spiral of Obamacare and the Democratic Party’s electoral prospects. Obama himself gave away the game unintentionally, in what poker players call a “tell” that consisted of two parts.

The first part of the tell was the obvious outright lie told by the president in a “poor me” moment of self-pity. From the official transcript:

And we didn’t make a hard sell. We didn’t have billions of dollars of commercials like some critics did.

Billions of dollars of commercials? Even if anyone believed the fairy tales about the Evil Koch Brothers, billions of dollars could not have been spent on anti-Obamacare commercials. That is the budget of an entire presidential campaign, planes, travel, and ubiquitous advertising, the whole nine yards.

The only advertising budget that even approaches that figure is the one spent by the federal and state governments promoting Obamacare. Last summer, the Associated Press tallied up the Obamacare spending plans of the feds and the states, and came up with the figure of $684 million. So lavish a marketing budget covered embarrassments like the $1.7 million tedious Richard Simmons video promoting Covered California...and a variety of other tasteless, ludicrous, and insulting initiatives like the infamous Pajama Boy....

The second part of the tell was the body language component. Missing from the platform was HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who now becomes the Official Fall Guy....

It is smoke and mirrors, but that is the way of Obama, and has been throughout his entire national political career.

Have You Been Following The Hobby Lobby Case? This Is How the Supreme Court Reacted Today. Today the Supreme Court heard oral argument in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby.

Hobby Lobby is facing potential fines of over $475 million a year because Obamacare violates their religious beliefs. We've been covering it from moment one. - Derrick Morgan, Hans von Spakovsky and Elizabeth Slattery/THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION
President Obama’s health care law made its way back to the Supreme Court of the United States today. In addition to being unsound health care policy by limiting patient choice and increasing costs, it also requires businesses to pay for abortion-inducing drugs. This morning, the Supreme Court heard oral argument in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties v. Sebelius, two challenges to the Obamacare mandate.

Hobby Lobby is an arts and crafts chain owned by the Green family, who are evangelical Christians, with over 13,000 employees. Hobby Lobby would face potential fines of almost $475 million a year if they fail to comply with this mandate. Conestoga Wood Specialties is a kitchen cabinet manufacturer run by the Hahns, a Mennonite family, with almost 1,000 employees. It would face financial penalties of about $35 million per year. Along with more than 300 plaintiffs in over 90 lawsuits, the Green and Hahn families believe that complying with the Obamacare mandate would force them to violate their sincerely held religious beliefs.

The First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) protect the free exercise of religion. Under RFRA, the government may not substantially burden the free exercise of religion unless it can show that the burden advances a compelling interest using the least restrictive means of achieving that interest. That’s a high bar. At issue in this case is whether these family businesses have religious liberty rights.
Hobby Lobby case: Justices skeptical of White House position - POLITICO
The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed skepticism of the legality of the Obama administration’s refusal to accommodate for-profit companies’ religious objections to the Obamacare requirement that most firms provide contraception in their employee health plans.

A majority of the justices seemed particularly doubtful of one of the administration’s central legal claims: the assertion that for-profit companies have no religious rights under federal law.

During more than 90 minutes of arguments, several justices repeatedly questioned why the administration couldn’t give for-profit companies with religious objections the same kind of accommodation that has been offered to religious nonprofits. Those organizations have been offered the chance to opt-out of contraceptive coverage and have it provided through their insurance company or administrator.

Issa Charges Sebelius With “Criminal Obstruction” of Obamacare Investigation

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, charged HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius with “criminal obstruction” of the committee’s Obamacare investigation. - Jim Hoft/Gateway Pundit
link - next.gov

The dispute centers around a letter the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services sent to a contractor that worked on the online health insurance marketplace, directing it not to turn over correspondence and other documents to congressional investigators and stating CMS would manage any congressional inquiries.
That letter amounted to “criminal obstruction” of a congressional investigation,” according to House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif.

“Obstructing a congressional investigation is a crime,” Issa said in a statement. “The federal obstruction laws reflect the fact that Congress’ right of access to information is constitutionally based and critical to the integrity and effectiveness of our oversight and investigative activities.”

HHS Spokeswoman Joanne Peters responded that the department is attempting to comply with Issa’s investigation while ensuring it doesn’t reveal any private consumer information or technology secrets.

In addition to the $677 million spent on the federal Obamacare website, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has shoveled $4.5 billion of taxpayer money to promote Obamacare on the state level.

Most of Washington seems to have bought the White House claim that the 36 federal exchanges are finally working, and glory, glory, hallelujah. But if that's really true, then what explains the ongoing secrecy and evasion?

Saturday, December 7, 2013

Late Friday afternoon, Politico Magazine published an update dismantling White House claims that President Barack Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius held “dozens” of unrecorded one-on-one working meetings over the last three-and-a-half years leading up to Obamacare's unveiling.

POLITICO DESTROYS WHITE HOUSE CLAIM OF SECRET OBAMA-SEBELIUS MEETINGS - Wynton Hall/Breitbart

In a telling exchange between Carney and NBC News reporter Peter Alexander and ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl, Carney claimed the GAI report showing one meeting between Obama and Sebelius since Obamacare’s signing was incorrect because it was based on spotty White House visitor logs. The problem, wrote Schweizer in the Politico Magazine update, is that the GAI report was not based on visitor logs; it was based on the White House’s own official calendar and was further verified by Politico’s comprehensive presidential calendar....

As Schweizer pointed out, “Obama’s calendar lists 277 one-on-one meetings between the President and his Cabinet Secretaries, including 73 with former Secretary Clinton and 57 with former Secretary Geithner.” Why not Sebelius? asked Schweizer.

The Politico Magazine update then posed the question at the heart of the controversy: “If Obama and Sebelius worked together closely and regularly, why did the President publicly state he did not know about the problems with Healthcare.gov?”

...The Obama Administration has yet to produce a list of the "dozens" of dates and times it claims Obama and Sebelius spent working on Obamacare.

A recent CNN/ORC poll finds that 53% of Americans now believe Obama is not honest and trustworthy.

ONE PRIVATE MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT, SEBELIUS IN 3.5 YEARS LEADING UP TO OBAMACARE LAUNCH - Wynton Hall/Breitbart

The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement.

More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private meetings with 16 other Cabinet secretaries in the same time span from Obamacare’s March 23, 2010 signing to November 30, 2013. Why Obama would devote so little face time to the person tasked with implementing what he calls his “most important initiative” is presently unclear....

The lack of in-person meetings between Sebelius and Obama may offer new insight into what the New York Times calls a “deeply dysfunctional relationship” between HHS and Obama’s White House chief of staff. On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that White House officials are coming under "mounting pressure from Democrats and close allies to hold senior-level people accountable for the botched rollout of President Barack Obama's signature domestic achievement and to determine who should be fired."

Healthcare.gov Crashes In Front of Sebelius at Obamacare Promotional Event

The whole project will remain a 'work in progress' well after November 30, she now says. Why, yes. Yes it will (via the Washington Free Beacon):

It's okay. You're allowed to laugh. And these folks were struggling with the site's front end, which Obamacare's IT chief Henry Chao testified yesterday is 100 percent operational -- though he's conceded that major flaws remain. What isn't even close to 100 percent built is Obamacare's technological back end, which entails processing consumers' data and actually enrolling people. Chao mentioned that the program's payment systems and accounting systems still need to be constructed. Health insurance expert Bob Laszewski compared the latter issue to opening a bank without having the capacity to send customers monthly statements....

'What amount does HHS expect to be repaid?'

Just when it seems the Obamacare experience couldn’t get any worse – the website malfunctions, millions of policies have been canceled, only thousands are able to sign up and premiums are skyrocketing – come the questions about loans.

“Out of the $1.98 billion awarded to CO-OPs, what amount does HHS expect to be repaid? What is the period of time by which HHS expects these funds to be repaid?” were among the questions presented to Sebelius.

The questions were raised in a letter from Sens. Orrin Hatch, ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee; Lamar Alexander, ranking member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee; Michael Enzi, ranking member of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee on Children and Families; Tom Coburn, ranking member of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee; and Rep. Union leaders wrote a letter to Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, warning of “nightmare scenarios” for millions of union workers' health plans if Obamacare is not changed. “Congress wrote this law; we voted for you,” they wrote. “We have a problem; you need to fix it.”

Health and Human Services quietly giving unions Obamacare fix - Susan Crabtree/Washington Examiner

he Obama administration has found a way to give unions relief from an Obamacare tax nearly three weeks after Republicans rejected a Democratic push to include the labor carve-out in the latest budget deal.

The Department of Health and Human Services quietly released a final rule last week that includes an intention to exempt some union insurance plans from a substantial new tax known as the reinsurance fee.

As part of Obamacare, the tax was supposed to be levied against all insurance plans to share the risk for insurers taking on the sickest patients next year.

...“It's outrageous that the Obama administration is ignoring the plain language of the law he insisted on to deliver another bailout to the union bosses,” said Fred Wszolek, spokesman of the Workforce Fairness Institute. “Either follow the law and tax every insurance plan, or repeal the whole thing, but there's no legal basis for another expensive favor for big labor.”

The reinsurance fee is $63 per person covered by an insurance plan per year, and is expected to raise $25 billion over three years. Exempting unions in 2015 and 2016 from the tax would protect their plans from taking a major hit, although they would have to pay it in 2014, when the tax will be the greatest during the first year Obamacare is in effect.

HHS didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

"Don't do this to me."

Five little words that say it all about Obamacare - Mark Tapscott/Washington Examiner

The reality is that Obamacare is government by decree of the ruler, not government by consent of the governed: You will do as we say, not as you choose....

There is abundance evidence that he knew or should have known, but whether Obama said it purposely isn't as important as what he left out of the promise: "If you like your present health plan, you can keep it if we say you can."

Five little words

The reason Obama didn't include those five little words is because he and his advisors knew doing so would have doomed Obamacare from the start.

Tell most Americans they must do something and their instinctive reaction is to resist. That's what consent of the governed is all about — we choose for ourselves, the government doesn't choose for us.

Since its passage, Obamacare has never enjoyed majority support from the American public. However inadvertently, Sebelius captured in those five little words what most Americans think about Obamacare: Don't do this to me.

The thuggery of Obamacare Czarina Kathleen Sebelius - Michelle Malkin

U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius is allergic to the truth. She is the ruthless enforcer of Obamacare’s Jenga tower of lies upon lies upon lies. Now that this fatally flawed government edifice is collapsing, you can expect Sebelius to do what she has done her entire career: blame, bully and pile on more lies.

Three years ago, when insurers and other companies had the audacity to expose Obamacare’s damage to their customers and workers, Sebelius brought out her brass knuckles. Remember? As I reported at the time, the White House coordinated a demonization campaign against Anthem Blue Cross in California for raising rates because of the new mandate’s costs. Obama singled out the company in a “60 Minutes” interview, and Sebelius sent a nasty-gram demanding that Anthem “justify” its rate hikes to the federal government.

A private company trying to survive in the marketplace was forced to “explain” itself to federal bureaucrats and career politicians who have never run a business (successful or otherwise) in their lives. Sebelius went even further....

Caught with their pants down on the Obamacare website abomination and unable to stifle the cries of millions of Americans who are unable to keep the plans and doctors they like, Sebelius and her corrupt company are now blaming insurers, contractors and customers for the Obama administration’s ideological mess. In short: They lied, but for your own good. Culture of Corruption 101.

KATHLEEN SEBELIUS DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU - John Hayward/Human Events @Doc_o

What a perfect distillation of the clueless arrogance and irresponsibility of this Administration! The imperial bureaucracy serves the King alone. They view themselves as opponents of both the American citizen and their elected representatives. It doesn’t matter how badly ObamaCare fails, or how much time people are wasting in fruitless battle with its software, or how many of us receive those dreaded insurance cancellation notices in the mail. This is an exercise of force. We are often told “democracy” had its last chance to stop the disaster in November 2012. It’s too late to complain about the false promises too many people believed back then.

Don't fire Kathleen Sebelius; her boss is the problem

Sebelius says she won't be signing up - CNS
Pressure is mounting in some quarters for Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to be made the sacrificial lamb for the abysmal failure of Healthcare.gov. - Mark Tapscott/Washington Examiner

There were more than sufficient grounds to terminate Sebelius during Obama's first term, not the least of which was her extorting contributions to promote Obamacare from the same health insurance providers HHS regulates under the program.

But Sebelius is not the major reason for the Obamacare website's epic flop from its first minute of operation on Oct. 1. The person who should be fired sits in the Oval Office.

Obama knew nothing. Again.

Kathleen Sebelius is insistent that no one told Obama prior to October 1 that testing and evaluation had indicated healthcare.gov likely would fail.

Not even as a government “shutdown” was looming over the issue of delaying the individual mandate for a year? Even though an inoperable healthcare.gov website would justify the Republican position? Even though a failure of the website would be a major embarrassment?
