Top 10 Things Obama Prefers To Do INSTEAD Of Running The Country

1. Golf: A lot of Americans wish they had the time, let alone the money, to hit the golf links twice a month. The day after the Japan earthquake and tsunami, Obama played his 61st round of golf, fewer than 26 months into his presidency.
2. Foreign travel... 3. Vacations... 4. Dining out...5. Playing basketball... 6. White House concerts... 7. White House theater... 8. Sporting events... 9. Youth sports... 10. NCAA brackets... ◼ Details at the link...

Obama Golfing (Again) Today

AWOL Obama vanishes again: Three hours after another American is brutally beheaded, president is whisked away from the White House – without finding time to say a single word about it

Barack Obama left for a three-day European swing Tuesday afternoon without saying a single word in response to a terrorist video showing the beheading of Steven Sotloff, the second American journalist to die that way on camera. - DAVID MARTOSKO, US POLITICAL EDITOR FOR MAILONLINE

The president's departure came amid equally deafening swirls of helicopter rotors and tough questions about whether and when the U.S. will strike back in a meaningful and public way against ISIS, the self-proclaimed Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham.
News of Sotloff's execution broke online at 1:05 p.m., shortly after White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest began his daily briefing with reporters; he said four minutes later that he hadn't heard the news.

Just two weeks ago, the president was widely criticized for being pictured fist-bumping on the golf course minutes after solemnly addressing the nation about an ISIS video showing photojournalist James Foley's death....

1,461 Days of Summer

Obama’s endless second-term vacation - Matthew Continetti/Washington Free Beacon

The headline was brutal. “Bam’s Golf War: Prez tees off as Foley’s parents grieve,” read the cover of Thursday’s New York Daily News. Obama’s gaffe was this: He had denounced the beheading of James Foley from a vacation spot in Martha’s Vineyard, then went to the golf course. Seems like he had a great time. Such a great time that he returned to the Farm Neck Golf Club—sorry, membership is full—the next day.

Technically, Obama’s vacation began on August 9. It is scheduled to end on Sunday, August 24. With the exception of a two-day interlude in D.C., it has been two weeks of golf, jazz, biking, beach going, dining out, celebrating, and sniping from critics, not all of them conservative, who are unnerved by the president taking time off at a moment of peril.

Attacking the president for vacation is usually the job of the out party. But these days it is the job of all parties. Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, ISIL, Ebola, child migrants on the border, racial strife in Ferguson, an American murdered by the caliphate—critics say the president who danced to every song at Ann Jordan’s birthday party seems remote and aloof from, and even mildly annoyed by, such concerns.

I disagree. Not with the judgment that Obama is detached, dialing it in, contemptuous of events that interfere with his plans. I disagree with the idea that this August has been different, in any meaningful way, from the rest of Obama’s second term. For this president, the distinction between “time off” and “time on” is meaningless. For this president, every day is a vacation. And has been for some time....

Is this the breaking point? Media, pundits furious with Obama for golfing as ISIS horrors go unanswered

Want to go blind with rage? Read this letter from ISIS to the Foley family - Noah Rothman/HotAir

...The video featuring the execution of James Wright Foley would be made public just six days after this letter was received.

There are some who will object to the publication of this letter, perhaps in much the same way that so many were enraged by the New York Post’s decision to publish an image of Foley the moment before he was beheaded by an IS terrorist. That’s not an unjustified emotion, but it is sometimes better to look evil in the eye than to rage against those media outlets that refuse to sanitize reality.

These people would like nothing more than to kill you and your family. No one is well-served by being shielded from that fact.

Irate Chris Matthews Taken Aback by Obama Reax to Foley Beheading; Says of ISIS 'If They Want to Die, Help Them Out'

"This is our country versus this group that's declared war on us. What's justice mean in this con-- I don't know why the word's used, like we're going to go to the World Court with this?!" (Chris "Tingles Up His Leg") Matthews sneered to guest Howard Fineman of the Huffington Post Media Group on the August 20 edition of Hardball. Later in the segment, an irate Matthews insisted "no American president can survive if he lets Americans be beheaded on international television with impunity. Impunity! He has to strike back, as an American, it's in our soul!"

Mark Levin to Obama: ‘Get Your Ass Off The Golf Course, Act Like a President, or Get the Hell Out!’ - TPNN

"You know, folks, an American is decapitated in the middle of the desert by some British-Islamo-Nazi puke,” Levin begins exhibiting righteous indignation. “This puke, this punk, ties one of our citizens up, his hands behind his back, lifts up his chin, and saws his head off!” Levin shouted.

“Is it too much to expect this pathetic president to spend more than five minutes on it?” Levin asked, referring to Obama hitting the links immediately after issuing his brief emotionless prepared statement regarding the barbaric beheading of photojournalist James Foley.

An early look at tomorrow's front page.

Obama’s Golf War - Ed Driscoll/PJ Media

Kudos to the New York Daily News, a center-left newspaper, for having a rare moment of clarity, even as its crosstown rival pulls its punches and retracts its own golf-related punch at their boss, and unlike the Daily News a likely accidental one, to boot.

But then, ◼ as John Hinderaker writes at Power Line, “In recent months, Barack Obama has crossed an important threshold. He has always shown contempt for his opponents; now he shows contempt for his supporters. He has quit pretending to be a leader, and more or less quit pretending to be a president. On the right and the center, he has become a joke,” as demonstrated by the Michael Ramirez cartoon that Hinderaker links to in his post.

Ace compares Mr. Obama’s contempt for — at this point, well, pretty much the entire world — as something akin to the mammoth level of OCD displayed by the Sheldon Cooper character on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory sitcom.

Obama calls for calm, then golfs...

President Obama went straight from a press briefing to the putting greens on Thursday. Shortly after making remarks on the situation in northern Iraq and the escalating tensions in Ferguson, Mo., Obama headed to the Vineyard Golf Club, according to a White House press pool report.
POLICE CHIEF RIPS OBAMA 'DISCUSSING TACTICS FROM MARTHA'S VINEYARD NOT HELPFUL' - Mario Trujillo/The Hill
"I would contend that discussing police tactics from Martha's Vineyard is not helpful to ultimately calming the situation," director Jim Pasco said in an interview with The Hill.

"I think what he has to do as president and as a constitutional lawyer is remember that there is a process in the United States and the process is being followed, for good or for ill, by the police and by the county and by the city and by the prosecutors’ office," Pasco added.

Pasco harkened back to 2009, when Obama criticized a Massachusetts police officer for arresting Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, when he was attempting to break into his own home. Obama said the officer had “acted stupidly.”

"That is one where the president spoke precipitously without all the facts," Pasco said, adding that the current situation "is a much larger and more tragic incident."

Obama's 'vacation from hell' - Politico

It hasn’t been all bad. Obama got the chance to tout the administration’s success in helping Iraq’s Yazidi religious minority escape from Mount Sinjar, which had been surrounded by fighters from the Islamic State.

And he is managing to squeeze in quite a bit of leisure time. He’s dined out with close friends. He’s hung out on the beach with his family. He’s played three rounds of golf.

On Thursday, he went from the podium where he delivered the statement on Ferguson to the Vineyard Golf Club faster than a ball driven by a 3-wood.

Obama departed the Edgartown School at 1 p.m. Four minutes later, he had arrived at the course.

Obama Boasts of 'Year of Action,' then Golfs, Attends WHCD, Heads to Four Fundraisers...

With Worsening Messes at Home and Abroad, Obama Brags of ‘Year of Action’ - Jim Geraghty/NRO

On Saturday President Obama enjoyed his 11th golf outing of the year before heading off to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Today the president meets with President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti and then hosts a Cinco de Mayo reception in the Rose Garden. Later this week, the President will attend four Democratic fundraisers in California.

But perhaps the clearest sign of the “Year of Action” is in the results.

USA Today this morning:
By more than 2-1, 65 percent to 30 percent, Americans say they want the president elected in 2016 to pursue different policies and programs than the Obama administration, rather than similar ones…

By more than 2-1, Americans are dissatisfied with the direction of the country. They remain downbeat about the economy. They aren’t persuaded that the Affordable Care Act is going to help them and their families. Even the president’s supporters worry he is a political liability for fellow Democrats. The president’s job approval rating remains anemic in the new survey, at 44% approve, 50% disapprove.

The National Park Service erected barricades to shut down parking lots surrounding Mount Vernon despite the fact that the tourist destination is privately owned, another example of how the feds are deliberately worsening the government shut down.

Mount Vernon is the former plantation of George Washington and is owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, which doesn’t receive any government funding. The attraction’s official website reads, “NO SHUTDOWN HERE – The Federal government may be shut down, but Washington’s home remains open. Mount Vernon has remained a private non-profit for more than 150 years.”
