Biden's Border Crisis: "It's more than a crisis; it's human heartbreak."

Monday, February 15, 2016

How quickly the official narrative changes.

As for Kerry, we find it ironic that the person now warning about refugees posing "a near existential threat" to an entire continent, was just five months ago so very eager to welcome 100,000 Syrian refugees to the US. We wonder if his policy on accepting those same refugees with open arms has changed as of this moment... and who gets to profit this time?

'Monstrous' crisis looms in China...

WHILE the world worries about Greece, there’s an even bigger problem closer to home: China. - news.com.au

A stock market crash there has seen $3.2 trillion wiped from the value of Chinese shares in just three weeks, triggering an emergency response from the government and warnings of “monstrous” public disorder.

The Middle East Runs out of Water:

With a unique, magnificent exception, much of the Middle East is running out of water due to such maladies as population growth, short-sighted dictators, distorted economic incentives, and infrastructure-destroying warfare. - Daniel Pipes

A ranking Iranian political figure, Issa Kalantari, recently warned that past mistakes leave Iran with water supplies so insufficient that up to 70 percent, or 55 million out of 78 million Iranians, would be forced to abandon their native country for parts unknown.

Many facts buttress Kalantari's apocalyptic prediction: Once lauded in poetry, Lake Urmia, the Middle East's largest lake, has lost 95 percent of its water since 1996, going from 31 billion cubic meters to 1.5 billion. What the Seine is to Paris, the Zayanderud was to Isfahan – except the latter went bone-dry in 2010. Over two-thirds of Iran's cities and towns are "on the verge of a water crisis" that could result in drinking water shortages; already, thousands of villages depend on water tankers. Unprecedented dust storms disrupt economic activity and damage health....

Israel provides the sole exception to this regional tale of woe. It too, as recently as the 1990s, suffered water shortages; but now, thanks to a combination of conservation, recycling, innovative agricultural techniques, and high-tech desalination, the country is awash in H2O (Israel's Water Authority: "We have all the water we need"). I find particularly striking that Israel can desalinate about 17 liters of water for one U.S. penny; and that it recycles about five times more water than does second-ranked Spain.

JERRY BROWN SHOWERS CALIFORNIA WITH MORE GOVERNMENT

Why is it that the Gov't always makes us pay when it screws up? Now, we get even more gov't control over our life because they refused to build the dams and water infrastructure we need. - Tim Donnelly/Breitbart

...With Brown, there’s always a method to his madness. All you have to do is listen to him.

“I can tell you, from California, climate change is not a hoax,” he said last Sunday on ABC’s This Week.“We’re dealing with it, and it’s damn serious.”

He’s laying the case for permanent government control over parts of our lives that for generations we considered private–all in the name of “global warming” or “climate change” or “unprecedented emergency” or whatever name they’ve given it this week.

If you’ve been paying attention to Governor Brown’s record, this isn’t the first industry that he’s decimated in the name of the environment.

First he empowered the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to wipe the small, independent trucker off the map in the name of clean air and ending Global Warming.

Turns out that the evidence about the level of diesel particulates that affect human health was dubious, and then completely disproven, but the regulations were passed and are now in effect regardles. Brown’s appointee, Chairman Mary Nichols, wasn’t going to let facts get in the way of a “good government” takeover.

Diesel trucks that in every way were compliant with every regulation, suddenly were out of compliance and required replacement. Big companies aggressively sought and won all the government grant money designed to ease the cost of upgrading from CARB. Small operators went under, with trucks that became unsellable in a market destroyed by Brown’s administration.

Absent a strong pool of competitors, transit prices have risen–affecting the cost of virtually every product we buy....

Instead of building dams, reservoirs and fighting to preserve every drop of water he can for Californians, Jerry Brown has chosen to waste his political capital on a train

JERRY’S FOLLY: TURNING CALIFORNIA BROWN TO APPEASE THE GREENS - Assemblyman Tim Donnelly/Breitbart

...Jerry Brown has chosen to waste his political capital on a train that no one wants, which California can’t afford–and he’s stealing people’s land and closing down businesses in order to do it. And now, finally in his fifth year as governor, he finally decides to act on the drought—and, in quintessential Jerry Brown style, he blames those who have nothing to do with creating the crisis and threatens to penalize them if they don’t comply.

Remind you of how he dealt with Sacramento’s addiction to overspending? Right—he blamed us, raised our taxes and threatened to cut our kids’ favorite programs in our schools if we didn’t comply and vote to raise our own taxes again.

In case you missed the news, Gov. Jerry Brown has decided that in spite of his unwillingness to act, you are the problem, so he’s declared a state of emergency in order to grant government even more sweeping control over your life.

Never forget the mantra of the guru of leftists like Brown, or Rahm Emanuel, in the Saul Alinksy tradition: never let a good crisis go to waste, and if you don’t have one, create one.

So in response to Jerry Brown’s massive mismanagement of our most precious natural resource—water—the governor has ordered you to conserve 25% or there will be hell to pay. Mandatory conservation or you will face fines or even have your water cut off....

You’d think if the crisis was as bad as Jerry Brown makes it out to be, he’d have acted long before now. Instead, he wants all of us to pay for his failure to act.

You might remember that when the water bond was first proposed, I was the lone “no” vote. Later, when it came back for a 2nd vote, Brown scrambled to get a Democrat–Wes Chesboro–to join me in opposing the pork-ridden, too-little, too late-excuse-for-a-water infrastructure-bond. He did that to prevent me from writing the opposing argument in the ballot pamphlet delivered to every voter in the state. Instead of my hard-hitting critique, Brown succeeded in getting someone farther left than himself to make a weak, ineffectual appeal.

All this adds up to one conclusion. The failure to act by the most powerful governor in the most significant agricultural in the world, was not an oversight–it was intentional.

By declaring a state of emergency, the governor can take what he’s described as “unprecedented” action. Mandatory rationing is just the beginning.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, GET A GRIP!

New York Daily News Drops 6-Word Headline Bomb on People Who Still Believe Obama’s a Great President - IJ REVIEW

The New York Daily News must have seen this coming for awhile. After all, the editors endorsed GOP challenger Mitt Romney in 2012 over their 2008 pick of Barack Obama.

But the cover of Thursday’s edition took the paper’s frustration with the President and his administration’s handling of the Ebola outbreak and put it all out there on full display. Giving a sneak peek on Twitter, the paper held absolutely nothing back....

Either way, the President likely isn’t too happy with the publication’s headline today. This backlash, coupled with the damning LA Times editorial on the “Ebola crisis of confidence,” is forcing Americans and the media to question the President and his administration’s ability to handle this virus.

EBOLA STRIKES SECOND DALLAS HOSPITAL WORKER

The worker at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital was monitoring herself for symptoms, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said. The unidentified woman reported a fever Tuesday. She was in isolation within 90 minutes, Jenkins said. - Breitbart

Health officials said the worker was among those who took care of Thomas Eric Duncan, who was diagnosed with Ebola after coming to the U.S. from Liberia. Duncan died Oct. 8.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was conducting confirmatory testing of a preliminary Ebola test conducted late Tuesday at a state public health laboratory in Austin, Texas, which came back positive.

Emergency responders in hazardous materials suits began work before dawn Wednesday to decontaminate the Dallas apartment of the second hospital worker. Notices handed out to neighbors, advise them that "a health care worker who lives in your area has tested positive for Ebola."

It's not clear how the second health care worker contracted the virus, and authorities declined to say what position she holds at the hospital or the type of care she provided.

40,000 Unaccompanied Alien Children Mysteriously Vanish – Border Patrol and Executive Office Of Immigration Review’s Numbers Don’t Match…

There is no border crisis about unaccompanied alien children – period. Sure there are “some” unaccompanied minors, but no-where near the figures that are bantered about in the media. Not – Even – Close. - The Conservative Treehouse

Government Has No Receipts for Thousands of Unaccompanied Alien Children - National Review

The Department of Justice does not have receipts for more than half of the unaccompanied alien children apprehended at the southwest border by Border Patrol since the start of fiscal year 2013, government records show.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection data show more than 85,000 total apprehensions of unaccompanied alien children during fiscal year 2013 and fiscal year 2014 through June. Information from the same time period provided to National Review Online by the DOJ’s Executive Office for Immigration Review shows 41,592 total receipts marked as juvenile in immigration courts. Kathryn Mattingly, spokesperson for EOIR, tells NRO the receipts refer to new Notices to Appear (NTA) — the document the Department of Homeland Security uses to charge an illegal immigrant with being removable from the United States.

EOIR has recorded 20,814 receipts marked as juvenile in fiscal year 2014 as of June 30, but Border Patrol recorded 57,525 apprehensions of unaccompanied alien children during the same time frame. This means immigration courts have receipts for fewer than four out of every ten unaccompanied alien children apprehended by Border Patrol this fiscal year.

Fournier: Obama Executive Amnesty Would Be Political 'Nuclear Bomb’ [VIDEO]

National Journal reporter Ron Fournier warned that President Obama’s threatened executive action granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants would be “a nuclear bomb that would blow open and make this country even more divided.” - Daily Caller

“If President Obama goes too far on this — whether it’s within his legal right or not — the outrage will be so incredible on the Republican side, it will probably bring more Democratic losses this fall,” she said. “Because I don’t know that Latinos are going to turn out this fall as a result of this issue. But it also could become a constitutional crisis.”

Fournier agreed. “Let’s assume for a second that legally he can do this — just stipulate that, just for a second,” he said. “Should he do it?”

“Even if you agree, like I do, that we really need to do something about these 12 million people who are in the shadows,” he continued, “even if you agree that it is legal, I still think there is an argument to be made that he should not do it.”

“Because the fundamental reason he became president was he was promising there’s no red state, there’s no blue state, I’m going to bring the country together,” Fournier asserted. “He’s been a polarizing president.”

“And this would be a nuclear bomb that would blow open and make this country even more divided,” he warned. “In a way that most Americans just don’t want.”
