'We have no plans to impeach the president. We have no future plans. Listen, it’s all a scam, started by Democrats at the White House'

Despite frantic claims from the White House and Democrats that impeachment of President Obama is possible, Speaker of the House John Boehner ruled out the possibility of that happening on Tuesday. - Alex Pappas/Daily Caller

“This whole talk about impeachment is coming from the president’s own staff,” Boehner said. “And coming from Democrats on Capitol Hill. Why? Because they are trying to rally their people to give money and to show up in this year’s election.”

They call this a fee, but make no mistake, its a tax.

In Sacramento there’s no shortage of creative ways to take more of your money to fund government programs.

If you haven't heard the term VMT yet -- you soon will. VMT stands for vehicle miles travelled. It could be referred to as Vehicle Miles Taxed -- because that's the intent of a new measure the California legislature is considering. A new VMT fee would raise more revenue for state highways and infrastructure by charging drivers a fee for every mile they drive. They call this a fee, but make no mistake, its a tax.

Santo Domingo Strikes Again!

“Embassy officials” join in the scamming of targeted grandparents. - Peter Hannaford/American Spectator – 5.14.14

For months con men have been preying on grandparents by telephone, apparently finding them a Mother Lode of money. Just last seek I learned how a Long Island, New York couple lost $4,500 to these smooth talkers who presented a plausible scenario.

It went this way: Their grandson, a college student, called from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic (it sounded just like him). He had gone there during spring break. Alas, the car he was in from the airport to his hotel was stopped for a traffic violation. When the officer saw young men in the car, he ordered them out and searched the car. In the trunk he found a bag of cocaine hidden under the floor mat. It was off to jail for all.

The “grandson” told his “grandparents” that he had been allowed one call, so he called them, presumably because he was sure they would be home. He turned the call over to a U.S. Embassy official who had come to the jail to help them. He introduced himself and advised there would be a hearing and that their grandson would be found innocent; however, the court calendar was crowded and a quick payment of bail might get him a hearing the next day, but no payment could result in a delay of weeks. At that point the grandparents wired the requested $4,500 for the bail. It was sent to a supposed bail bondsman in Santo Domingo. The grandparents were told the bail would be refunded a few days after the hearing.

The next day the “Embassy official” called with the good news that the grandson had been found innocent; however, the court had imposed a fine on him. The grandparents, now suspicious, said they would have to call back. They then learned that their real grandson had spent the weekend at his family home in New Jersey.

Despite their loss, the victims had seen spared a much larger one. Had they wired the “fine” it would have been followed a day later with the news from the “Embassy official” that a good-sized bribe would have to be paid to the Customs officials to get back the grandson’s passport. After that, his air ticket home would have to be changed in order to get him on the next plane to New York. This would cost several hundred dollars.

The scenario sounded familiar to me, as I had received a call from my “grandson” in January, telling me of a similar fate on the way from the Dominican Republic airport to the hotel in Santo Domingo. Then, two months later he called again.

This time I feigned deafness and said, “Who did you say was calling?” “Your grandson. Sorry about my voice. I have a cold.” “Where are you?” I asked. “Actually, I’m traveling. I’m in Peru.” Whereupon, after a pause, I said, “You are not my grandson and you are not in Peru. I am familiar with this scam.” and slammed down the telephone.

In retrospect, a better course of action would have been to string them along until I could get a telephone number, and then call the State Department’s American Citizen Service at 1/888/407-4747. They are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This band of crooks is particularly difficult, because it moves around. A State Department investigator told me that they are using this dodge all over the world, masquerading as officials of the U.S. Embassy in the particular country.

While the arrested travelers are most often grandsons, sometimes they are granddaughters (involving, for example, a dented fender in a rental car, in a country where a foreign driver is considered responsible, no matter who was at fault).

If you are a grandparent or know anyone who is, beware of this seductive approach. Even if the “grandchild” sounds close to the real one, be immediately suspicious. If you play along until the “Embassy official” gives you the pitch about money, firmly say you will need some time (such as half an hour) and ask for his telephone number. The number may be phony; nevertheless, report it immediately to American Citizen Services.

A recent communiqué advised that the con men have lately concentrated on Arizona and Florida where there are a great many grandparents. If you don’t live in either, still be on guard. They apparently make the connection between the grandparent and the grandchild by some sophisticated online data mining, so they make strike wherever you live.

GREENPEACE FOUNDER: NO SCIENTIFIC PROOF FOR GLOBAL WARMING

According to Moore, environmental groups like Greenpeace are not really concerned with the truth or the sciences that govern the earth as it evolves in the cosmos. - Robert Wilde/Breitbart

Moreover, the Canadian ecologist, who was a member of Greenpeace from 1971-86, admitted that Greenpeace intentionally used faulty computer models and scare tactics in promoting claims man-made gases are heating up the planet. More told the Senate committee that he decided to leave Greenpeace because it was more concerned with politics than it was with the environment.

Moore also makes the same point that Danish writer and professor of environmental studies at the University of Copenhagen, Bjorn Lomborg, ascribes to; that even if the planet is warming up, it would not be calamitous for humanity, which Moore described as a “subtropical species.” Lomborg claims “economic models generally find that moderate global warming is a net global benefit. Worldwide and in almost all regions, many more people die from cold than heat. With increasing temperatures, avoided cold deaths will vastly outweigh extra heat deaths. By mid-century, researchers estimate 400,000 more heat deaths but 1.8 million fewer cold deaths.”

More bad news for the Church of Global Warming

CLIMATE-CHANGE CONSENSUS: THERE IS NO CONSENSUS - John Hayward/Human Events @Doc_o

Clearly there is no “consensus” among climate scientists, and there never really was, not even in the salad days of the Church of Global Warming. There were a lot of hard-core scientific frauds running in the Eighties and Nineties, creating academic pressures that scientists were reluctant to resist. In the early years of the “pause,” it was more reasonable to suppose the problem itself existed in a big way, leaving human involvement the major topic of debate. But even then, nothing like the “consensus” claimed by fanatics and opportunistic politicians ever existed. At best, the number of scientists who would answer a binary “do you believe in climate change” question in the affirmative was somewhat higher than it is now… but as the AMS survey shows, it was never truly a Yes or No question.

And science is not a matter of consensus. That is the realm of politics, which has always been one of the greatest corrupting influences upon the scientific method....

It’s long past time we put paid to the illusion of climate-change believers as disinterested seekers of truth and saviors of the planet, while all who question their edicts must be hired knives in the employ of Big Oil. Big Climate is perhaps the biggest business on the planet, one of the largest special interests you can find. Gigantic amounts of money, and enormous political power, are riding on this ideology. It’s one of the most useful tools for the expansion of government in the free world, hovering right on the line of “because I said so” dictatorship, as you can see from the movement’s easy lapse into totalitarian denials that honorable dissent is possible at all.

It’s long past time strip the climate-change movement of the pretense they represent a consensus of scientists… because there is no consensus, and they represent interests that have nothing to do with science. Those who possess high-quality data don’t have to protect their hypotheses by invoking peer pressure to silence doubters. Take away the peer pressure, and nothing remains except brute government force… which we should also take away.

GE WILL NO LONGER DESIGN PROJECTS TO PLEASE CLIMATE CHANGE ADVOCATES

In a watershed moment and a huge victory over environmentalists, General Electric has agreed to stop projects that are designed solely for the purpose of carbon dioxide reductions to please those who lobby for climate change concessions. - William Bigelow/Breitbart

...The new concession by GE may have been in the works for some time; in 2011, Immelt told an MIT Enterprise Forum audience that he had "lost interest in calling on the United States to develop a more comprehensive energy policy." National Center President David Ridenour responded, “talk is cheap."
Danhof concluded:
All too often, shareholders find themselves facing almost insurmountable odds when they believe the company they have invested in has strayed from free-market principles. In this case, the company has done the right thing. Not only is this a victory for General Electric's shareholders and employees, it is a victory for all Americans.
Amy Ridenhour added:
For the past quarter-century, government and corporate efforts have plowed billions into the promotion and exploitation of the human-caused catastrophic global warming theory. The result has been higher taxes, greater deficits, higher prices, job loss and greater government control over our daily lives – all in service of a theory based on computer models that are not coming true. More and more people around the world are waking up to the fact that the global warming theory is about hot air, all right, but that a startlingly high percentage of that hot air is coming from people pushing the theory, not hardworking people going about their daily business. Slowly but surely, the expensive, job-killing and liberty-encroaching global warming leviathan is being defeated. We commend General Electric for taking this step and encourage other corporations to follow its lead.

Scammers Use Obamacare To Steal Identities Of Elderly...

They say what you don’t know can’t hurt you. But, a new scam is banking on seniors having a limited knowledge of so-called “Obamacare.” - CBS Detroit

According to consumer watchdogs, scammers are trying to fool consumers, in many cases seniors, into giving up personal information by claiming they’ve been selected to be among the first to get insurance cards for “Obamacare.”

The solicitors, sometimes pretending to be federal government workers, tell people they can get all signed up by giving them their bank account and Social Security numbers. Better Business Bureau officials say the fact that not many people know about the Affordable Care Act only helps the flimflammers.

NYTIMES CONFIRMS: MASSIVE FRAUD AT USDA IN PIGFORD; BREITBART VINDICATED

The New York Times reported Friday that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has likely enabled massive fraud in the Pigford series of legal settlements, in which black, Hispanic, female and Native American farmers have claimed to be victims of past discrimination. = Joel Pollak/Breitbart

The cost of the settlements, which could exceed $4.4 billion, is the result of a process that "became a runaway train, driven by racial politics, pressure from influential members of Congress and law firms that stand to gain more than $130 million in fees," the Times notes.

Among those influential members of Congress was then-Senator Barack Obama, who made Pigford payouts a priority in exchange for political support for his 2008 presidential campaign among a coveted group of black voters in the rural South, the Times reports.

As president, Obama continued to support payouts for new groups of claimants while abandoning a review process that had been used to fight fraud. The aim was "buying the support" of minorities, according to the Times, while middlemen created a "cottage industry" in defrauding the government.

The Times investigation, led by reporter Sharon LaFraniere, vindicates the late Andrew Breitbart, for whom Pigford became a crucial issue in demonstrating the cynical use of racial politics by the institutional left to hurt the very people they claimed to be helping. Breitbart directed investigations of the Pigford fraud and championed the cause of the original black farmers in the lawsuit, arguing that many of them had been left behind while opportunistic lawyers and fraudulent claimants looted the federal treasury in exchange for votes and support.

The left, led by the George Soros-funded Media Matters for America, attempted for years to dismiss claims of fraud in Pigford, calling it Breitbart's "stupidest conspiracy theory." When Fox News picked up the story, Media Matters called it an attempt to attack "anti-discrimination efforts."

In fact, the 5,529-word report by LaFraniere shows that Pigford and subsequent settlements had little to do with redressing discrimination and everything to do with politics and greed, while the true victims of discrimination continued to suffer in obscurity.

U.S. Opens Spigot After Farmers Claim Discrimination - New York Times

Will Pigford vindicate Andrew Breitbart? - Caroline May/Daily Caller 12/9/2010

“They were trying to show that my intention was to get Pigford defunded,” Breitbart told The Daily Caller. “And, I had never heard of Pigford, so for the last four and half months, all I’ve been doing is eating, breathing, sleeping Pigford, researching Pigford, finding whistleblowers who are hiding in plain sight who have been wanting to tell the story of how this was rigged.”

The $10 Trillion Climate Fraud

Cap-And-Trade: While senators froth over Goldman Sachs and derivatives, a climate trading scheme being run out of the Chicago Climate Exchange would make Bernie Madoff blush. Its trail leads to the White House. - Investors.com

The Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) advertises itself as "North America's only cap-and-trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide." Barack Obama served on the board of the Joyce Foundation from 1994 to 2002 when the CCX startup grants were issued. As president, pushing cap-and-trade is one of his highest priorities. Now isn't that special?

Operatives raise cash for Cain, themselves - Washington Times

An independent group raising money in the name of Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain has close ties to operatives with a history of enriching themselves by drawing money from conservative donors that goes largely to the fundraisers and not the campaigns.

A collection of political professionals in a downtown Washington suite has perfected the art of aligning itself with Washington outsiders with poorly run campaigns and raising large amounts, which are then paid primarily to direct-mail and consulting firms they control. The donors, most commonly retirees, are often unaware of exactly to whom they are giving.

Now, they are sending solicitations that look like official Herman Cain materials, but which fine print shows to be from an independent group.
