AZ has cheap gas & free bags. CA has regulations, taxes, taxes, & more taxes

...The first thing that you notice when returning to California is a closed rest stop that has been that way for a number of years.

Gasoline was $2.15 a gallon in Arizona, and Albertsons gave me a bag to carry home my groceries.

In the last week I have spoken to three people who indicated to me that they were moving out of state because it had just gotten too expensive to continue living in California.

If things were not bad enough already, our goofball governor has just succeeded in raising taxes again to pay for road repair. Haven’t we done this before? Living in California is beginning to feel like we are living in an alternate universe....

One woman can be heard saying that this was “attempted murder.” The behavior of these protesters is a classic example of what’s been coined the “crybully phenomenon” — those who show up to cause trouble, then play the victim when when trouble arises.

“Just 11 percent said they were less likely to support Trump because of this decision (to shut down the rally). Another 22 percent said they were actually more likely to back Trump, and 66 percent said their views were unchanged. ”

President's Message

I wanted to share with you some helpful information from the Arizona Federation of Republican, our hosts for the NFRW Biennial Convention.

PRE-CONVENTION TOURS
For your pre-convention amAZing travel fun, Arizona Trails Travel has requested that all tours be pre-booked as well as prepaid by 15 days ahead. Vouchers will be provided upon final payment. Jump on the NFRW site for more information on the tours, but a reminder that deadline is roughly Aug 24th which is Monday!!

AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
I have had several members contact me about transportation from Sky Harbor Airport which is about a $60+ taxi ride. Super Shuttle is also an option, not sure of their pricing. How about sharing a limo with friends also arriving close to your time?
Vitesse Worldwide/Mary Thompson is your contact.

OPENING GALA ATTIRE
I have also had several inquiries as to attire for the Friday night. AZ does not plan this but the latest I heard was many members will be outside earlier in the evening with the Idaho Red Potato Truck and some at the indoors Awards Reception. Arizona is fairly casual...we're realistic about hot weather. Suggest something comfortable and cool for outside along with a wrap or light sweater if we move inside with air conditioning? Definitely toss a wrap or light sweater in your suitcase...every place is air conditioned.

If This Bill Becomes Law, Arizona Is About To Throw A Major Wrench Into President Obama’s Agenda.

This Wednesday, the Arizona House of Representatives passed House Bill 2368, sponsored by Representative Bob Thorpe, R-Flagstaff. If signed into law, the bill would prohibit Arizona from funding any executive orders issued by President Obama. - Lilia Dashevsky Journal/IJ Review

According to the state legislature’s fact sheet, there are only two provisions to the bill:

  1. Prohibits this state or any of its political subdivisions from using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with an executive order issued by the President of the U.S. that has not been affirmed by a vote of Congress and signed into law as prescribed by the U.S. Constitution.
  2. Prohibits this state or any of its political subdivisions from using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with a policy directive issued by the U.S. DOJ to law enforcement agencies in this state that has not been affirmed by a vote of Congress and signed into law as prescribed by the U.S. Constitution.

McCain’s team quietly purging Arizona GOP of tea-party foes before 2016 reelection bid

Control the committeemen and you control the local chairmen. Control the local chairmen and you control the party... - Allahpundit/HotAir
John McCain Engaging in ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ to Purge Tea Party Detractors From Arizona GOP - The Blaze
According to Politico, McCain’s team has been working to reshape the state party, knocking hostile Tea Party-aligned members from local GOP offices and replacing them with allies ahead of the senator’s 2016 re-election bid.
McCain's big purge: The Arizona senator’s team has been ridding the state’s GOP apparatus of his tea party foes. - Politico

The ambitious effort — detailed to POLITICO by nearly a dozen McCain operatives, donors, and friends — has stretched from office buildings in Alexandria, Virginia, where strategists plotted and fundraisers collected cash for a super PAC, to Vietnamese-American communities across Arizona, where recruiters sought out supporters eager to help the incumbent defeat the tea party.

Team McCain’s goal? Unseat conservative activists who hold obscure, but influential, local party offices....

Under the byzantine rules of Arizona Republican Party politics, these elected officials, known as precinct committeemen, vote for local party chairmen. The chairmen, in turn, determine how state and local GOP funds are spent, which candidates are promoted in an election year, and which political issues are highlighted — all matters of central concern for McCain heading into 2016, when the threat of a primary looms.

Prior to Aug. 26, when the races for the party offices were held, the vast majority of the 3,925 precinct slots were filled by people McCain’s team considered opponents. Now, after an influx of candidates were recruited by the senator’s allies, around 40 percent of those offices — 1,531 to be exact — will be held by people McCain’s team regards as friendly. They will have the power to vote down hostile Republican chairmen in each of their respective localities.

“There’s been a huge organizational effort that I’ve never seen before,” said Gordon James, an Arizona public relations executive and longtime McCain confidant. “A lot of the party folks who were hostile to John McCain have been marginalized, and that’s a good thing.”

The biggest foe to fall: Timothy Schwartz, the man who authored the McCain censure resolution....

MEANWHILE, OBAMA’S IMMIGRATION DISASTER CONTINUES

In any other administration, the debacle unfolding across our Southern border would be dominating the news. But in the Age of Obama, it jostles for attention with a host of other scandals and catastrophes. Tens of thousands of Central Americans–maybe more–have now traversed Mexico and deposited themselves at our border, where they are being whisked into the United States. The migrants endure privation and danger to get here, lured by reports that an amnesty is coming. - OHN HINDERAKER/POWERLINE

James Buchanan is hard to top, but as the disasters multiply, Barack Obama has managed to insert himself into the “worst president ever” conversation.

The U.S. government is preparing to open a new facility in rural New Mexico to hold hundreds of unaccompanied children arriving from Central America as state officials call on federal authorities to do more to stop the migration.

"Dang it, the federal government has got a job to do," Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said Wednesday in Nogales, where she toured a southern Arizona facility housing nearly 1,000 children apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The surge of border crossings has strained the limits of existing resources, prompting the Republican governor to renew her criticism of the Obama administration's immigration policies.

Brewer said states have no authority in addressing the matter, referring to a federal lawsuit against Arizona over its sweeping immigration bill known as SB1070....

Obama Administration Won't Say How Many Children Are Showing Up for Deportation Hearings - CNS

"I don't have that number in front of me," White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters on Tuesday after one of them asked.

"It's not that you don't have it. It's that you don't want to release it, right?" the reporter said, noting that Earnest was asked the same question last week....

In a speech on the Senate floor Thursday, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) pointed to a leaked May 30 memo written by Deputy Border Patrol chief Ronald Vitiello, which said only three percent of apprehensions from countries other than Mexico are being sent back to their home countries, most in Central America.

"I repeat: only three percent are being returned home," Sessions said.

Sessions blames lax immigration enforcement for the border crisis. "America deserves leaders in the Executive Branch who will stand up and say clearly: the crisis must end now. The border is closed. If you come unlawfully, you will be deported."

Arizona Ditches Common Core Testing Consortium

Arizona was an early governing member of the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, but Brewer’s office announced that effective June 8 the state would be disassociating itself. - Daily Caller

The decision to pull out does not affect Arizona’s current adherence to Common Core, whose implementation will continue as planned. In addition, the decision doesn’t necessarily mean Arizona will not ultimately use PARCC to supply its standardized test, as PARCC will be allowed to submit its tests for possible use.

The government’s statement says the state has no problems with PARCC, but rather must disassociate itself to avoid any conflict of interest as it evaluates different bids to provide standardized tests to more than 1 million Arizona students.

How America treats illegal aliens vs. veterans

A government that puts the needs of illegal aliens above U.S. veterans for political gain should be prosecuted for criminal neglect bordering on treason. - Michelle Malkin/Washington Examiner

Compare, contrast and weep:

In Sacramento, Calif., lawmakers are moving forward with a budget-busting plan to extend government-funded health insurance to at least 1.5 million illegal aliens.

In Los Angeles, federal bureaucrats callously canceled an estimated 40,000 diagnostic tests and treatments for American veterans with cancer and other illnesses to cover up a decade-long backlog.

In New York, doctors report that nearly 40 percent of their patients receiving kidney dialysis are illegal aliens. A survey of nephrologists in 44 states revealed that 65 percent of them treat illegal aliens with kidney disease.

In Memphis, a Veterans Affairs whistleblower reported that his hospital was using contaminated kidney dialysis machines to treat America's warriors. The same hospital previously had been investigated for chronic overcrowding at its emergency room, leading to six-hour waits or longer. Another watchdog probe found unconscionable delays in processing lab tests at the center. In addition, three patients died under negligent circumstances, and the hospital failed to enforce accountability measures.

In Arizona, illegal aliens incurred health care costs totaling an estimated $700 million in 2009.

In Phoenix, at least 40 veterans died waiting for VA hospitals and clinics to treat them, while government officials created secret waiting lists to cook the books and deceive the public about deadly treatment delays....

In 2013, the Obama Department of Homeland Security released 36,007 known, convicted criminal illegal aliens, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. The catch-and-release beneficiaries include thugs convicted of homicide, sexual assault, kidnapping, and thousands of drunk or drugged driving crimes.

The same Department of Homeland Security issued a report in 2009 that identified returning combat veterans as worrisome terrorist and criminal threats to America.

John McCain Censured by Arizona Republicans in Landslide Vote

This official censuring of McCain happened during the annual mandatory meeting of the Maricopa County Republican Committee. Nearly 1,500 precinct committeemen (PCs) were in attendance. The vote to censure McCain passed overwhelmingly — 1,150 in support with only 351 opposed.

The censure concluded that “until he consistently champions our Party’s Platform and values, we, the Republican leadership in Arizona will no longer support, campaign for or endorse John McCain as our U.S. Senator.

...Arizona’s entire Republican Congressional delegation attended the meeting. U.S. Reps. Paul Gosar, (CD-4); Matt Salmon, (CD-5); David Schweikert, (CD-6) and Trent Franks (CD-8) were warmly received by the committeemen. The Representative gave rousing speeches that resonated with the PCs. - TOP RIGHT NEWS

Sheriff Joe Arpaio attended the meeting where the entire Republican Congressional delegation showed up, and the crowd gave Arpaio loud cheers. But McCain didn’t attend and neither did Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ), both of whom doubled down with Gang of 8 and got that amnesty bill through the Senate — a true betrayal of the people of Arizona and the entire United States.
