The whole protest movement against the Dakota Access Pipeline was a fraud from beginning to end. Not content to merely disrupt communities, increase costs to the taxpayers, delay work that will produce good jobs, and thrashing the environment the sub-humans who inhabited the DAPL camp site went off and left a number of dogs to fend for themselves in a North Dakota winter...

The whole protest movement against the Dakota Access Pipeline was a fraud from beginning to end. There were five other pipelines running over the same basic route. The “sacred burial grounds” were not on federal property and not particularly close to the DAPL. And the actions of the protesters confirm that they really didn’t care anything at all about preserving the environment because they trashed the environment and created an ecological disaster at their camp site.

A bitter truth, often glossed over in the name of "tradition," is the religious teachings and the responsibilities of a Muslim woman. Most glossed over is the violence that men are still allowed to inflict on their women in the name of their religion and culture on such a massive part of the planet.

This brutality not only takes place in ISIS-held territory but across most Muslim societies. All around you, you see women killed, molested, imprisoned, maimed and incarcerated while their men sugar-coat the abuse as "modesty", "honour", "divine law" or even "justice"....

Turkey last year presented a bill for tackling its widespread child-marriage issue: the Turkish government introduced a bill that pardons a rapist if he marries his victim. The victim is not consulted.

All forms of exploiting women are presented as divine law, sharia, in which women have no say, which they are unable to use in their own defence, and which they are forced to accept as their fate.

These are countries where men are not only permitted, but invited, to consider woman a pet -- to be killed, burned with acid, benzene or a weapon of choice supposedly to preserve a family's "honour".

These laws, put in place by the governments and the clergy, provide a safe escape for criminals, such as those who kill their women and claim it is in the name of "honour".

The deeper horror is that all these abuses -- child marriage, confinement, FGM, rape, torture, and legal discrimination -- have accomplices. These enablers are often well-meaning people from the West, "multiculturalists" who are reluctant to pass judgement on other people's customs no matter how brutal they might be....

An Indonesian woman screamed in agony Monday as she was caned in Aceh, the latest in a growing number of women to be publicly flogged for breaking the province's strict Islamic laws.

Aceh is the only province in the world's most populous Muslim-majority country that imposes sharia law. People can face floggings for a range of offences -- from gambling, to drinking alcohol, to gay sex.

In the latest caning, five people -- two women and three men -- were flogged in front of a cheering crowd at a mosque in the provincial capital Banda Aceh.

The 34-year-old woman who yelled in pain had been found guilty of spending time in close proximity with a man who was not her husband in contravention of Aceh's Islamic regulations.

She was lashed seven times with a rattan cane by a man wearing long robes and a hood, with just slits for the eyes.

Women belonging to Iraq's Yazidi minority, who follow a religion that is neither Christian nor Muslim, have borne much of the worst of the horrors to which Islamic State terrorists subject so-called "infidels." Turned into sex slaves for and sold as wives to jihadists, the Iraqi doctors who treat them say the abuse is often beyond anything they have seen.

Speaking anonymously to Niqash, a publication focusing on Iraqi issues, doctors working in and around Mosul, the largest city in Iraq under Islamic State control, say Yazidis are among the most abused of those facing extinction at the hands of the terrorist group.

“It is a public, collective act of rape," said one doctor, who remained anonymous for fear of retribution from Islamic State terrorists. "I treated about ten women and I was stunned to find one who was just 13 years old. Her mental and physical health were very bad," he noted.

Another woman arrived in a such a state that doctors almost pronounced her dead. "She had been on a hunger strike after being raped by several of the IS gunmen and if she had not been brought to hospital, I am sure she would be dead by now," the doctor said.

Sudanese Christian Mom Fears Baby Disabled After Giving Birth in Chains

◼ The woman who was sentenced to death in Sudan for her Christian faith says she fears her newborn baby is physically disabled because her legs were chained while she was in labor. - Daily Signal

“Something has happened to the baby,” Meriam Ibrahim Ishag, now out of prison, told The Guardian newspaper in her first interview since giving birth to a daughter while imprisoned. She added:

I gave birth chained. Not cuffs – but chains on my legs. I couldn’t open my legs so the women had to lift me off the table. I wasn’t lying on the table.

The Khartoum Court of Appeals canceled the 27-year-old Sudanese mother’s death sentence and ordered the charges against her dropped. Now, Ishag is “temporarily detained” in Sudan with her family.
