“Come down from Trump Tower” not likely to inspire approval for emergency and infrastructure funding.

California Governor Jerry Brown has adopted an interesting approach to requesting fiscal assistance from President Donald Trump.

Legal Insurrection readers will recall that our governor formally requested emergency funding for the storm damage that occurred in the state, which included deterioration of the Oroville Dam that led to a public evacuation of the surrounding area. Brown is also struggling to find monies for his legacy project, the California high speed train, after the Trump administration halted a grant slated for its construction.

Brown traveled to Washington, D.C.to a address these matters directly with various members of the Trump administration. A sensible approach to take in this sitation might have been to politely focus on areas of agreement with the President.

However, since this is Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown, nonsense was the order of the day...

Help victims of the earthquake in Nepal

Earthquake survivors plead for aid in Nepal mountain villages - Gretawire

Earthquake survivors in Nepal’s mountain villages plead for help, as U.N. officials say more helicopters are needed to reach the isolated areas.

Nepal has been shaken by more than 70 aftershocks following the April 25 quake, and its people remain on edge. One brief aftershock Saturday afternoon shook Pauwathok’s only paved road, triggering screams from residents who began to run, then stopped when the tremor eased.

The small village is located in the district of Sindupalchok, where more deaths have been recorded than anywhere else in Nepal — 2,560, compared to 1,622 in Kathmandu. The U.N. says up to 90 percent of the houses in Sindupalchok have been destroyed.

Only a handful of the village’s roughly 80 homes remain habitable. Mostly made of brick and mud and sticks, they were either completely leveled or damaged beyond repair. Some families now sleep under makeshift shelters of debris that they constructed from their own ruined homes — torn roofs and boards, whatever was left.

Others sleep under tarpaulins — obtained only after residents sat in the middle of the road Friday and blocked an aid convoy that eventually relinquished 30 of them, said Giri, who took one for his family. “We only have the clothes on our backs. The rest has been buried under the rubble,” he said.

Here’s how to help with relief effort in Philippines

Filipinos are just now beginning to pick up the pieces following Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, which by the latest reports might have left 10,000 dead on the eastern island of Leyte alone. - Twitchy 11/10

Several relief agencies have sprung into action to aid the victims. Here is a list of several which are involved in the relief effort.

Biggest storm in history: Millions flee and more than 100 are dead as 147 195 mph winds smash into the Philippines forcing the evacuation of 800,000 people

Typhoon Haiyan was a maximum category-five storm with ground winds of up to 147 195 mph - Daily Mail (image source)

It was the most powerful storm to ever land.

A monster typhoon, with winds reaching 147mph, killed more than 100 people, tossed houses into the sea and sent millions fleeing for shelter in the Philippines yesterday.

The poverty-stricken country has already endured almost a year of earthquakes and floods with no fewer than 24 disastrous weather events.

The category-5 super typhoon Haiyan – Chinese for ‘sea bird’ – smashed into the eastern islands of the Philippines with winds nearly 150mph stronger than the St Jude storm which struck the UK in late October.

Official: Super Typhoon Death Toll Could Reach 1,200

There is more bad news for the Philippines as a tropical disturbance, perhaps becoming a tropical storm, will reach the nation during the middle of next week.

Philippines typhoon leaves an estimated 1,000 dead in one coastal town alone, report says (Video)

What are Preppers? Terrorists?

Preppers are individuals that stock up on food, weapons (sometimes), gas, and other essential items that their families may need in order to survive in a time of crisis.

What do preppers look like?

Preppers are normal every day individuals. They look like you and me. They are hardworking, smart, and intelligent. They are your neighbors, your co-workers, your friends, your family, and your bosses. They certainly are not the crazy, whacked out individuals that the main stream media portray them to be. Mains stream media portrays preppers as possible terrorists, nuts, psycho’s, and individuals for us to fear. This brings up the question as to why, and what is their purpose for doing so? Let’s dig a little deeper and see if we can come up with the real reasoning behind main stream media’s attack on preppers.

In the event of such a disaster (ex: Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, L.A. Riots) when grocery stores are empty, gas stations closed, power is down, looting is rampant, and there is no source of heat. Individuals that have prepared “Preppers” for such a disaster will not be subjected to starvation, dehydration, hypothermia, or mob attacks. They will not have to grovel to our government for food, water, shelter, or basic necessities. While others will have to stand in line for hours to get a simple bottle of water, or a blanket....

Do “Preppers” fall under the definition of terrorism...?

The Department of Homeland Security lists the (following) and suggests you report any such activity immediately. This is not the full list.
1. Buy a cup of coffee with cash
2. Reporting or doing journalism
3. Criticizing the government targeting innocent civilians with drones.
4. Have more than 7 days worth of food in your house.
5. Pro-Life
6. Believe in the Constitution
7. Bumper stickers “Know your rights or loose them” “Ron Paul” “Anti-Obama”
8. Speaking out against government policies
9. Asking questions about Wall Street
10. Against Big Government
11. Veteran
12. Pro-gun
13. Don’t want the government spying on you without a warrant.
14. Use Social Media
The list goes on and on. The sad thing is none of what they list in their manuals targets any actual threats or known terrorist organizations. It targets law abiding Americans as the “terrorist”. No mention of gangs, drug dealers, Al Qaeda, nor Muslim Brotherhood activities. Why? Could it be because they are changing their target from the real terrorist’s to the American people?
According to the DHS (U//FOUO) Rightwing Extremism Manual download here that is exactly what they are doing. They have redefined what a terrorist is, and are targeting normal everyday people like you and I. “Preppers” being one of them.

Many of the DHS/FEMA preparations, bills, and manuals have come to light in the recent years and MSM refuses to report on them. Yet, for some reason people refuse to connect the dots, even when the proof is right before their eyes. They refuse to accept the reality of the treasonous acts going on within our government against the citizens of the United States. When will people move past the excuse of “racism” to justify Obama’s actions? People from every walk of life are in danger via his policies and executive orders.

Obama Campaigns with Jay-Z, Springsteen as Sandy Crisis Continues

As President Obama closes out his presidential campaign on Monday with stops featuring A-List celebrities like rapper Jay-Z and rocker Bruce Springsteen, many of the victims of Hurricane Sandy are still waiting for federal, state and local assistance.

In the immediate aftermath of the storm, President Obama flew to assess the situation with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

But with over 2 million New Jerseyans and New Yorkers still without power, gas lines snaking for miles and as many as 40,000 people displaced from their homes -- some are seeing Obama's visit as nothing more than a photo op.

Dear NFRW Member,

In honor of all of our friends who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy, the National Federation of Republican Women is asking its members to consider contributing to the relief effort.

Two relief organizations we have suggested in the past are:
The American Red Cross: https://www.redcross.org/donate/index.jsp
The Salvation Army: https://donate.salvationarmyusa.org/disaster
These are just two suggestions. There are many ways you can help. Your prayers are much appreciated, too.

Republican women are always on the front lines when the call goes out, and we truly appreciate each and every one of you!

Thank you,
Rae Lynne Chornenky

It was 4 years ago that Obama gave that grandiose "this was the moment" speech where he said "This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow...." What irony if the rise of the oceans thwarts his reelection! - Althouse

Early Voting cancelled for Monday - Stay tuned.

ANNAPOLIS, MD (OCTOBER 26, 2012) - Governor Martin O’Malley today issued an Executive Order declaring a state of emergency with respect to Hurricane Sandy. Depending on how the storm develops, Hurricane Sandy may have an impact on early voting, which is scheduled to take place between Saturday, October 27 and Thursday, November 1.

The Election Law provides that "[i]n the event of a state of emergency, declared by the Governor in accordance with the provisions of law, that interferes with the electoral process, the emergency proclamation may: (1) provide for the postponement, until a specific date, of the election in part or all of the State; (2) specify alternate voting locations; or (3) specify alternate voting systems."
