CFRW on Jerry Brown's State Supreme Court nomination

◼ Jerry Brown never disappoints. He has just nominated Goodwin Liu to the State Supreme Court. The Republicans in the U.S. Senate just blocked Liu’s appointment to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is very far left and has basically been a professor.

If this person could not make it through the U.S. Senate, why do we want him on the State Supreme Court?

Nominations to the State Supreme Court must be confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments. That commission is made up of the Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court, the Attorney General and the Senior Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeals.
