...Melania Trump is not just strikingly beautiful. She is worldly, well-traveled and well-read. She speaks English, French, German, Italian and Serbian, in addition to her native Slovenian -- more languages than any other woman who has served as America's first lady. Her devotion to son Barron is exemplary. Her aversion to limelight and lack of political ambition are refreshing. So is her ability to refrain from public grievance-mongering over "sacrifices" and trade-offs made between work and home life (looking at you, Hill and 'Chelle O).

The hostile White House press corps blames Trump's own reticence for the publicity vacuum around her. But I believe there's something deeper at work:

More exposure to this interesting and remarkable woman would mean more familiarity with her. More familiarity with her might mean more popularity. And God forbid there be more Republican women in the public eye who can compete with -- and win against -- the usual parade of militant kvetchers and moaners who pass themselves off as feminist role models....

So Trump, like so many prominent GOP women before her, will continue to be snubbed, humiliated and demonized by narrative control freaks because women on the right threaten the cultural hegemony of the left. Black or white, rich or poor, centrist or "far right," native-born or naturalized, Republican mothers, wives and daughters must be otherized and forced to stay in media-manufactured lanes....

My fellow election-watchers at The Upshot are tuned in to the polls. As new survey numbers are released, the Upshot team eagerly feeds them into our election forecasting algorithm, which we’ve affectionately named Leo, and it crunches the numbers to figure out the odds for each side.

Based on the latest data, Leo gives the Republicans a 64 percent chance to win control of the Senate. That is, while the odds slightly favor the Republicans, Leo still thinks the Democrats still have a pretty healthy chance of winning. Other models that aggregate the state-specific polling are in general agreement with Leo.

By contrast, tune in to prediction markets and you’ll see the great untold political story of this week: The odds on a Republican victory have shifted upward sharply, and it’s now extremely likely they’ll win control of the Senate.

RNC Releases New “Women of the GOP” Video

◼ The Republican National Committee (RNC) released a new web video, “Women of the GOP,” highlighting some of the Party’s exceptional female candidates this November.

This video is part of the RNC’s “Taking Back The Future” initiative, encouraging more Republican women to get involved in the political process.

MEET OUR REPUBLICAN WOMEN CANDIDATES: MIA LOVE, Utah

After a competitive election in 2012, Mia Love is back again as the Republican nominee for the congressional seat in Utah’s 4th District. In the 2012 election, Love faced longtime Democrat incumbent Jim Matheson, losing by less than 1% of the vote. Now that Matheson is retiring, Love will face Democratic candidate Doug Owens. If elected, she will be the first African American female Republican elected to Congress, a major feat for the Republican Party.

Love and her husband, Jason, and three children reside in Sarasota Springs. Working her way through local government, she has served as a city councilwoman and mayor of Sarasota Springs.

As a mother, Love values the importance of education and advocates for the return of control of education back to the local level. Believing in a limited role of government, she opposes Obamacare on the grounds that it is not affordable, not sustainable, and greatly increases the scope and size of the federal government. Love believes that the federal government should reduce spending, and furthermore proposes the implementation of a simpler tax code and lowering of tax rates.

When asked why she is a conservative, Love says, “I believe conservative values are what lift people out of poverty. I believe conservative values lead to the greatest amount of prosperity for the greatest number of people.”

Sarah Palin CANCELS Today Show interview because MSNBC won’t discipline Martin Bashir

◼ Palin has now canceled Lauer’s scheduled trip to Wasilla, a source close to her tells me. It’s not because Palin is upset with Lauer or the “Today” show, but as a protest against NBC for not taking action against Bashir. In fact, Palin once sat in as a “Today”co-host. - The Right Scoop

◼ DEE DEE MYERS, FIRST FEMALE WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY CALLS FOR BASHIR'S FIRING - Tony Lee/Breitbart

Myers, who has written a book about why women leaders should rule the world, spoke out after Breitbart News reported that feminist and women's groups had been silent on Bashir's remarks. Talk radio host Mark Levin suggested women's groups were silent because Palin is not a left-wing politician.

After Bashir apologized on his show on Monday for words that he admitted were "wholly inappropriate" and "offensive," Breitbart News exclusively obtained a letter from Palin's PAC, SarahPAC, that asked MSNBC President Phil Griffin and NBC News President Deborah Turness what action the network would take against Bashir for his "appalling" words. It also mentions that MSNBC has set a precedent of firing and disciplining other anchors for "offensive language."

"You fired Don Imus for offensive language in describing the Rutgers University Women’s Basketball team, you suspended Alec Baldwin, and yet nothing has happened to Mr. Bashir," the letter reads. "Are we to assume then, that disciplinary procedures at your network take place based on the target of the remarks rather than the remarks themselves?"

On Tuesday, TruthRevolt reported that the National Organization for Women (NOW) had repeatedly ignored request for comment on MSNBC host Martin Bashir’s sexist comments stating that Sarah Palin deserved to have someone “p*ss” and “sh*t” in her mouth. NOW’s website currently lists “Stopping Violence Against Women” as one of its chief goals.

NOW isn’t the only major feminist group to go silent over Bashir’s anti-Palin bigotry. The Feminist Majority Foundation has also avoided comment on Bashir’s statements, despite describing itself as a “cutting edge organization dedicated to women's equality, reproductive health, and non-violence. In all spheres, FMF utilizes research and action to empower women economically, socially, and politically.”

Ted Cruz gets hero's welcome from Texas GOP women

◼ With roars of approval from hundreds of GOP women gathered in San Antonio, Sen. Ted Cruz defended his political tactics in Congress on Saturday and vowed to continue the uphill fight against the new federal health care law despite backlash even from fellow Republicans. - MySanAntonio

...“There will be plenty of time to consider the particular tactical or strategic decisions,” Cruz told reporters after his Austin speech. “What I can tell you is that the fight in my opinion needs to stay focused on stopping the disaster that is Obamacare, because people are hurting, and this deal ignored the American people.”

Cruz repeatedly lambasted Senate Republicans who didn't stand with the House Republicans.

“The deal that was cut ... is a classic example of the Washington establishment selling the American people down the river,” Cruz said.

◼ PELOSI OUTRAGED BY 'SLAP HILLARY' SITE, SILENT ON 'SLAP PALIN' GAME - Tony Lee/Breitbart

Last week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) demanded Republicans take down a "Slap Hillary" game the GOP had no part in creating. The website was put up by an independent group called The Hillary Project.

“‘Slap Hillary' site isn’t a game, it isn’t funny. Like all violence against women, it’s sick. GOP needs to grow up and take this site down,” Pelosi tweeted.

As BizPacReview notes, however, Pelosi has never had a similar complaint about a similar "Slap Palin" game. That site also has a "photoshopped image of Palin naked, having sex with former running mate John McCain."

"Pelosi and her fellow travelers on the left don’t denounce games like 'Slap Hillary' because they’re 'sick' like 'all violence against women,'" BizPacReview wrote. "They denounce them because they don’t like their politics."...

After listening to ten days of hand wringing and doom saying from the usual suspects that Republicans must abandon our principles if we are to survive, we need a little of Mark Twain's common sense. I suggest we all take it to heart.

He said, "We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it -- and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove-lid. She will never sit down on a hot stove-lid again -- and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one anymore."

So it is in that spirit that I will begin with three incontrovertible truths about this election.

First, the same election that returned Barack Obama to the White House also returned the second largest House Republican majority since World War II - bigger than anything Newt Gingrich ever had.

This is what we see time and again at the hands of the same Left that manufactured a month's long non-troversy over a word Rush Limbaugh spoke. While, on one hand, the left and their media allies feign outrage over Limbaugh, on the other hand, they either willfully ignore or launch vile, sexist attacks against conservative women that go well beyond anything that can in any way be called satire or humor.

Wisconsin Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch is a wife, mother, and a cancer survivor. She's currently being targeted for recall and by some of the ugliest personal attacks you'll hear -- at least until the left launches the next one.

◼ Listen here to John "Sly" Sylvester, a left-wing radio host who operates out of Madison, WI, at radio station WTDY. Sylvester accuses Kleefisch of performing sexual acts on numerous men, mocks her cancer, and attacks her children.

The attack on the Kleefisch's children is quite intentional. We've seen the media do the same to Sarah Palin. The idea is to gut-punch the target, to attempt to make the price of staying in the public arena awful and toxic. The left's hope, obviously, is that the target will shrivel up and go away. Well, this evil tactic didn't work on Palin and I doubt it will on Kleefisch.

But where is the media on this?

AWOL, naturally, because Rebecca Kleefisch is an apostate -- a self-made Republican woman who became the Lt. Governor of a swing state Barack Obama desperately needs to fall his way if he's to have four more years to be more, uhm, flexible.
