Why Did It Take Two Weeks To Discover Parkland Students’ Astroturfing?

The response was professionalized. That’s not surprising, because this is what organization that gets results actually looks like. It’s not a bunch of magical kids in somebody’s living room.

“Can you believe these kids?” It’s been a recurring theme of the coverage of the Parkland school shooting: the remarkable effectiveness of the high school students who created a gun control organization in the wake of the massacre. In seemingly no time, the magical kids had organized events ranging from a national march to a mass school walkout, and they’d brought in a million dollars in donations from Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney....

On February 28, BuzzFeed came out with the actual story: Rep. Debbie Wassermann Schultz aiding in the lobbying in Tallahassee, a teacher’s union organizing the buses that got the kids there, Michael Bloomberg’s groups and the Women’s March working on the upcoming March For Our Lives, MoveOn.org doing social media promotion and (potentially) march logistics, and training for student activists provided by federally funded Planned Parenthood.

The president of the American Federation of Teachers told BuzzFeed they’re also behind the national school walkout, which journalists had previously assured the public was the sole work of a teenager....

The real tip-off should have been the $500,000 donations from Winfrey and Clooney. Big celebrities don’t give huge money to strangers on a whim....

For two weeks, journalists abjectly failed in their jobs, which is to tell the public what’s going on....

Oprah Winfrey has no intention of running for president in 2020: Report

Saturday, November 16, 2013

“The beauty of Oprah was she didn’t play the race card in her career. She created a product everybody wanted to buy. President Obama created a mess that nobody wanted to own including himself.”

The Five Hits Oprah’s Race Remarks: Way More ‘Wackos’ on the Left Than the Right - Matt Wilstein/MEDIAITE

Beginning with Winfrey’s comments about the “disrespect” Obama received because he’s an African-American, Andrea Tantaros said, “I’d love to ask her this question. If somebody like President Obama was working at her company Harpo, and had done something the equivalent of Obamacare at Harpo, do we think for one second Oprah would keep him employed, white, black or anything?”

...“If disrespect means racism,” Greg Gutfeld chimed in, “then how can you explain George W. Bush? Who I think was the beneficiary of more disrespect than Obama ever encountered as president?”

More Common Core Indoctrination: “The People Must Obey The Government’s Commands”

Wow, indoctrination tied up as instruction on possessives. This is reportedly part of the Common Core lessons for third graders so it applies to all schools employing those standards. - WeaselZippers

So third graders are learning:
-it is the President’s job to make everything fair
-the people must obey the commands of government officials
-the individual’s wants are less important than the nation’s well-being.

Oprah Winfrey gave ‘unequivocal no’ to selling Obamacare

Oprah Winfrey downright refused an invitation to the White House and the opportunity to join a host of celebrities to sell Obamacare over the summer, sources told the New York Post. - Jessica Chasmar/Washington Times

“All of Oprah’s top people thought she would go, because when the president invites you to the White House, most people automatically say yes,” said one of Miss Winfrey’s top advisers. “But Oprah said she didn’t have the time or inclination to go. It wasn’t like she had to think it over. It was an immediate, flat-out, unequivocal no.”

Miss Winfrey ended up sending a low-level representative from one of her talent agencies to meet the president, which he regarded as a insult, the Post reported....

Miss Winfrey campaigned extensively for Mr. Obama in 2008, but apparently he never returned the favor of allowing the media titan unique access to the White House if he won.

“Oprah intended to make her unique White House access a part of her new network [OWN],” a source close to her told the Post. “There were big plans, and a team was put together to come up with proposals that would have been mutually beneficial.

“But none of that ever happened. Oprah sent notes and a rep to talk to Valerie Jarrett, but nothing came of it. It slowly dawned on Oprah that the Obamas had absolutely no intention of keeping their word and bringing her into their confidence.”

...“Oprah was hoping there would be a genuine change in the atmospherics,” one of her friends told me. “But there hasn’t been. Clearly, she is being rebuffed at the level of Michelle and Valerie. And, just as obviously, President Obama hasn’t interfered on Oprah’s behalf.”

An adviser told the Post that Miss Winfrey also butts heads with first lady Michelle Obama, and it’s unlikely the media mogul will reconcile with the first family.

Sixth-graders asked to ‘prune’ Bill of Rights from ‘outdated’ Constitution, BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE:

Via Digital Journal, an Arkansas mother was surprised to learn her sixth-grade daughter’s first assignment on the Constitution was to work in teams to revise the Bill of Rights, including “pruning” two amendments. Why? The assignment posits that the government of the United States has determined that the Bill of Rights “is outdated and may not remain in its current form any longer.” - Twitchy

3RD GRADE COMMON CORE WORKSHEET: Ruby sat on the bed she shared with her husband holding a hairclip. There was something mysterious and powerful about the cheaply manufactured neon clip that she was fondling suspiciously. She didn’t recognize the hairclip. It was too big to be their daughter’s, and Ruby was sure that it wasn’t hers. She hadn’t had friends over in weeks but here was this hairclip, little and green with a few long black hair strands caught in it. Ruby ran her fingers through her own blonde hair. She had just been vacuuming when she noticed this small, bright green object under the bed. Now their life would never be the same. She would wait here until Mike returned home.

8. Why is Ruby so affected by the hairclip? Ruby suspects infidelity.

What in the text supports your idea?

She has found a foreign hairclip and is deeply affected by it.

9. How has the hairclip affected Ruby’s relationship?

The hairclip has poisoned the relationship.

What in the text supports your idea?

Unless Mike can otherwise explain it away, "their life will never be the same."

10. From where did the hairclip most likely come? Another woman.

What in the text supports your idea?

Though it could have been a guest with a platonic relationship with Mike, the clip is not recognized by Ruby.

Only Black Senator Not Invited to MLK Event Because He's Republican?

Sen. Tim Scott wasn’t invited to event commemorating MLK march on Washington - Joel Gehrke/Washington Examiner @joelmentum

Sen. Tim Scott, R.-S.C., the only African American serving in the United States Senate, wasn’t invited to the event commemorating the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s march on Washington, though a host of Democratic luminaries spoke on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

The event organizers didn't completely exclude Republicans from the event — former President George W. Bush, for instance, received an invitation, but he couldn't attend as he is recovering from surgery — but the slate of speakers was filled with names such as former President Clinton, Gov. Martin O'Malley, D-Md., Oprah Winfrey, Jamie Foxx and others.

President Obama was the keynote speaker of the event, of course, which is held in honor of the achievements of Dr. King and other civil rights leaders. Wouldn't it have made sense to have the first black president joined by the first black senator from South Carolina, which was a Jim Crow state when the original march on Washington took place?

O’Reilly on MLK Anniversary Speeches: ‘Uplifting’ but ‘Grievance-Mongering’ Won’t Advance Civil Rights - Mediaite

Clean living, pure thought, and high aspirations - John Hayward/RedState @Doc_o

It has been sad, but predictable, to watch a parade of leftist hacks draft the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. into service this week, to promote some bit of Democrat Party dogma or other. Impeached former President Bill Clinton took the cake by uncorking a bizarre finger-wagging rant that was presumably intended to slam voter-ID laws by comparing them to the process of purchasing an assault weapon. Since Clinton is a lazy ideologue who assumes his audience is filled with idiots, he didn’t put a lot of thought behind his words, and ended up saying something that could be interpreted as a call for photo ID, background checks, and a waiting period before allowing voter registration....

Black conservatives were distinctly unwelcome at the MLK celebration today... That’s too bad, because I’ve seen no better discussion of what Dr. King might be saying today than the one offered by Dr. Ben Carson. #MLK #MarchOnWashington

PEDOPHILIA, INCEST, AND GRAPHIC SEX: EXCERPTS FROM A COMMON CORE READING LIST BOOK FOR 11TH-GRADERS THAT WILL MAKE YOU BLUSH

Common Core, the controversial set of education standards being pushed by many state governors and education leaders, is coming under fire for its selection of a book that’s on the suggested reading list for 11th graders (i.e. 16- and 17-year-olds). The book — a past selection of Oprah’s Book Club — has graphic sex scenes and descriptions... - The Blaze

Editor’s note: The following story contains graphic language. Discretion is advised.

The work in question comes from Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison. Listed on a Common Core reading list linked on the website, “The Bluest Eye” carries this description from the curriculum’s preferred bookseller: An Eleven-Year-Old African-American Girl In Ohio, In The Early 1940s, Prays For Her Eyes To Turn Blue So That She Will Be Beautiful.

That description sounds tame and appears to be a solid lesson about the problems of desiring beauty over anything else....

(Excerpts you won't find on Common Core's site:)
Pages 162-163: “A bolt of desire ran down his genitals…and softening the lips of his anus. . . . He wanted to f*** her—tenderly. But the tenderness would not hold. The tightness of her vagina was more than he could bear. His soul seemed to slip down his guts and fly out into her, and the gigantic thrust he made into her then provoked the only sound she made. Removing himself from her was so painful to him he cut it short and snatched his genitals out of the dry harbor of her vagina. She appeared to have fainted.”

Page 174: “He further limited his interests to little girls. They were usually manageable . . . His sexuality was anything but lewd; his patronage of little girls smacked of innocence and was associated in his mind with cleanliness.” And later, this same pedophile notes, “I work only through the Lord. He sometimes uses me to help people.”

Page 181: “The little girls are the only things I’ll miss. Do you know that when I touched their sturdy little t*** and bit them—just a little—I felt I was being friendly?—If I’d been hurting them, would they have come back? . . . they’d eat ice cream with their legs open while I played with them. It was like a party.”
...graphic excerpts cover incest, rape and pedophilia. In her research on the book in question, Macey France also exposes some pretty shocking support for those topics, from the author herself:
In fact, the author of the book, Morrison, says that she wanted the reader to feel as though they are a “co-conspirator” with the rapist. She took pains to make sure she never portrayed the actions as wrong in order to show how everyone has their own problems. She even goes as far as to describe the pedophilia, rape and incest “friendly,” “innocent,” and “tender.” It’s no wonder that this book is in the top 10 list of most contested books in the country.
The presence of the book on Common Core’s list, combined with Morrison’s descriptions of incest, rape, and pedophilia as “friendly,” “innocent,” and “tender” have sparked outrage in some communities. Parents in one Colorado school district are petitioning for the removal of “developmentally inappropriate and graphical content from the instructional reading list.” They are not asking for the book to be banned or even removed from the library, just taken off the suggested reading list.

Jane Fonda: I Will Go to My Grave with 'Unforgivable Mistake'

“I made one unforgivable mistake when I was in North Vietnam, and I will go to my grave with this,” Jane Fonda says on the Oprah Winfrey Network. - Greg Richter/Newsmax

The actress and activist made an infamous trip to North Vietnam in 1972 in which she was photographed singing with North Vietnamese military members as she sat on an anti-aircraft gun.

She was criticized then — and ever since — and says she understands the anger.

Fonda said she knew immediately that she had made a mistake and has apologized repeatedly, both privately and publicly.

America has its own Nigerian Prince. I think you know his name by now. His campaign sent out nearly as many emails as his Nigerian colleagues do, promising fame and fortune to those suckers who would help him transfer some wealth from the 1 percent to the 99 percent. And now that his second term is here, the check is in the mail. And if the government check doesn't clear, well that's what happens when you put your faith in Nigerian Princes.

Carny Nation: Here lies become the truth and everything is full of sugar. And the highlight of the show with be Barack, the Exotic Prince from the Wilds of Indonesia and Kenya, with a special appearance by Oprah and a hologram of JFK. Here in the Carnival of Fools, the party never stops and no one ever has to pay the bill. - Sultan Knish

A scam like the Democratic Party needs suckers. It needs millions and millions of the dumbest people that can be found outside of specially supervised group homes. And then it needs to appoint people to watch over them, give them the occasional food and minor check, and drive them in vans to the polls after two or four years so that the con artists can keep their manicured paws on the local treasury.

These people have to be stupid, yes, but like all marks, they have to be greedy. They have to be the kind of people who relish taking someone else's money without working for it. The kind who grin at the idea of putting something over someone else. The kind who think that they are smart because they decided that the world owes them a living. They think that they're smart, but they're only the marks in a con. And when the con is done, like the guy depositing a check from Nigeria's Prince Uscamo, they are going to be the ones left holding the bag.

Tonight's Debate: 6:00-7:30 PT

Questions I’d like to Hear President Obama asked at the debate tonight - Derek Hunter/NY Daily News
Romney Holds Advantage Tonight, Regardless of Format - Mark Salter/Real Clear Politics
Romney doesn’t need to elevate his game. He just needs to be as assertive, gracious and unflappable as he was the last time -- not an easy task but one we now know he’s capable of achieving. No matter how improved the president is tonight, he’s unlikely to reverse Romney’s momentum. I believe the last debate changed the race fundamentally. It’s now trending in Romney’s favor. If he can find that sweet spot again, he’ll further reduce the likability gap with his opponent, and I think he’ll be the favorite to be our next president.
Dem strategists see campaign in peril, say Obama must step up - Paul West/Chicago Tribune
Candy Crowley will disregard debate agreement on Tuesday - Alicia M. Cohn/The Hill

Adviser says Romney will ask Obama to 'man up' on Libya attack at debate - Justin Sink/The Hill
Romney v Obama: when it comes to debating, Obama might be the new Messiah but he's no Bill Clinton - Tim Stanley/The Telegraph
Tonight is round 2 of the great presidential debates of 2012. Although this one will be less like a boxing match and more like a 90-minute edition of Oprah. The format is ordinary people asking questions from the audience, which means that the goal of the evening is empathy, empathy, empathy. Rather than scoring points against each other, the candidates have to show that they understand people’s problems, care about them and have solutions. It’s like a talk show for megalomaniacs.

RNC 2012: Clint Eastwood’s speech to the Republican convention in Tampa (full text) via Washington Post

EASTWOOD: Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you very much. Save a little for Mitt.

(APPLAUSE) I know what you are thinking. You are thinking, what’s a movie tradesman doing out here? You know they are all left wingers out there, left of Lenin. At least that is what people think. That is not really the case. There are a lot of conservative people, a lot of moderate people, Republicans, Democrats, in Hollywood. It is just that the conservative people by the nature of the word itself play closer to the vest. They do not go around hot dogging it.
