Why do women's groups treat Bill Clinton and Donald Trump differently?

Groups that advocate for women’s rights are lashing out at Donald Trump for allegations of groping women and bragging about sexual assaults.

But some of those same groups did not think former President Bill Clinton’s allegations of sexual misconduct nearly two decades ago were disqualifying in the same way.

...At least three women – Juanita Broaddrick, Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey – accused Clinton of unwanted sexual advances. Another five, including White House intern Monica Lewinsky, said they had had consensual affairs with him. Clinton was impeached on charges of lying about the Lewinsky affair before a grand jury and of obstruction of justice, but was acquitted and served his full presidential term.

Women’s groups largely stayed supportive.

“Feminists have, all along, muffled, disguised, excused and denied the worst aspects of the president’s behavior with women,” said a lengthy Vanity Fair article from 1998.

“Feminism sort of died in that period,” New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd told Yahoo recently. “Because the feminists had to come along with Bill Clinton’s retrogressive behavior with women in order to protect the progressive policies for women that Bill Clinton had as president.” ...

Pro-Trump super-PAC ad uses Clintons' words against them

The 30-second ad, titled "More of the Same," blends clips of Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton both defending themselves — using many of the same words — in their respective situations.

The ad shows clips from an August 2015 news conference where Hillary Clinton says that she has turned over "everything," regarding her use of a private email server while serving as secretary of State.
"I did not send classified material ... and I did not receive any material that was marked or designated classified," the Democratic front-runner said in the ad.

The ad also features clips from Bill Clinton's January 1998 speech where the former president responded to allegations that he had sexual relations with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky....

Is she talking about Trump or Bill?

Responding to recent criticism from Donald Trump, Clinton said, “I have a lot of experience dealing with men who sometimes get off the reservation in the way they behave and how they speak.”

Sex, Lies, Clinton and Trump

The Donald — you'll be surprised to hear if you've been living on Pluto — has been firing back, sweeping Mr. Hillary, now supposedly about to stump for his wife, into the fray.

"You look at whether it's Monica Lewinsky or Paula Jones or many of them," Trump said on NBC's TODAY. "That certainly will be fair game. Certainly if they play the woman's card with respect to me, that will be fair game."

In recent days, the GOP front-runner has been highlighting the former president's affair with intern Monica Lewinsky, saying that Bill Clinton has a pattern of "abuse of women."

Bill Clinton portrait features shadow of Lewinsky dress, says artist

Pennsylvania artist Nelson Shanks told the Philadelphia Daily News in a Sunday article that the painting features a shadow on its left-hand side, and that the shadow was actually cast by a blue dress that was placed on a mannequin. - LA Times

"The reality is [Clinton's] probably the most famous liar of all time. He and his administration did some very good things, of course, but I could never get this Monica thing completely out of my mind and it is subtly incorporated in the painting," the artist told the newspaper.

Shanks said that the mannequin was present while he was creating the portrait, but not while Clinton was posing.

He added that the dress "represents a shadow on the office [Clinton] held, or on him."

Lewinsky's blue dress was a focal point of the Clinton scandal, which first broke in 1998. In sworn testimony, the president initially denied that he had had sexual relations with the White House intern, who at the time of the encounters was 22.

After Lewinsky submitted a blue dress with a semen stain, Clinton publicly admitted that he had an improper "physical" relationship with the intern. Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives but acquitted in a subsequent Senate trial.

Mainstream media can't bear to admit the Washington Free Beacon scooped them

Say My Name - Washington Free Beacon

Washington Free Beacon reporter Alana Goodman’s scoop featuring new insights on former First Lady and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton Monday made waves around the country Monday, becoming a discussion topic on every cable news channel and broadcast network.

However, some in the mainstream media couldn’t bring themselves to say the “Washington Free Beacon” had reported the new findings on Clinton, with some substituting “conservative website” or even “anti-Clinton website.”

Much of the portrayal is of the bitter, brutal, belligerent Hillary we all know.

But her early support for single-payer, despite later denials, is directly relevant to the Obamacare debacle that will be an issue in the 2016 election.

Hillary Clinton has a 'Woody Allen problem'

Media justifies the attention on so-called "Bridgegate" because, after all, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is a likely GOP presidential candidate. Why does Hillary Clinton get a pass over the serious allegation that she bullied a woman who claims Bill raped her? - Larry Elder/Washington Examiner

...Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Gennifer Flowers, et al...These women -- most of whose claims were eventually admitted to by Bill Clinton -- were shamed and blamed. Was Hillary involved in these verbal attacks? To what degree was the famously hands-on wife of Bill involved -- or even worse -- leading the "nuts or sluts" strategy used to malign his accusers as either crazy or of questionable morals?

...Broaddrick claims that two weeks after the rape, at a political event, Hillary approached her. "She came over to me, took a hold of my hand and said, 'I've heard so much about you and I've been dying to meet you. ... I just want you to know how much that Bill and I appreciate what you do for him.' ...

"This woman, this little, soft-spoken — pardon me for the phrase — dowdy woman that would seem very unassertive, took ahold of my hand and squeezed it and said, 'Do you understand? Everything that you do.' I could have passed out at that moment and I got my hand from hers and I left. ... She was just holding onto my hand. Because I had started to turn away from her and she held onto my hand and she said, 'Do you understand? EVERYTHING that you do,' I mean, cold chills went up my spine. That's the first time I became afraid of that woman."

Rand Paul Shows How It's Done: Laughs At "War On Women"

The whole thing of the 'war on women,' I sort of laughingly say, 'Yeah, there might have been – but the women are winning it' = Political Outcast

Then there was Paul’s interview on Meet the Press:

Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky Sunday called former President Bill Clinton "predatory" for his 1996-1997 liaison with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Paul, a potential 2016 GOP presidential nominee, also said that the Democrats' argument that Republicans are waging a "War on Women" by opposing coverage for birth control in Obamacare and by opposing abortion is undercut by the memory of Bill Clinton as a sexual predator.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul talks about Hillary Clinton's potential 2016 run for president and whether her husband's transgressions will impact the race.

"One of the workplace laws and rules that I think are good is that bosses should not prey on young interns in their office. And I think really the media seems to have given President Clinton a pass on this. He took advantage of a girl that was 20 years old and an intern in his office. There is no excuse for that, and that is predatory behavior..... Then they (Democrats) have the gall to stand up and say, 'Republicans are having a war on women.' "
