President Obama’s once seemingly unstoppable march toward re-election hit what he might call “bumps in the road” in Benghazi, Libya, late on Sept. 11, 2012. It might be more accurate to describe the effect of the well-planned and -executed, military-style attack on a diplomatic facility there as the political equivalent of a devastating improvised explosive device on the myth of the unassailability of the Obama record as commander in chief.

Thanks to intrepid investigative reporting — notably by Bret Baier and Catherine Herridge at Fox News, Aaron Klein at WND.com and Clare Lopez at RadicalIslam.org — and information developed by congressional investigators, the mystery is beginning to unravel with regard to what happened that night and the reason for the subsequent, clumsy official cover-up now known as Benghazigate.

The evidence suggests that the Obama administration has not simply been engaging, legitimating, enriching and emboldening Islamists who have taken over or are ascendant in much of the Middle East. Starting in March 2011, when American diplomat J. Christopher Stevens was designated the liaison to the “opposition” in Libya, the Obama administration has been arming them, including jihadists like Abdelhakim Belhadj, leader of the al Qaeda franchise known as the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group....

Investigative journalist Aaron Klein has reported that the “consulate in Benghazi” actually was no such thing. He observes that although administration officials have done nothing to correct that oft-repeated characterization of the facility where the murderous attack on Stevens and his colleagues was launched, they call it a “mission....”

He talked about his son, Tyrone Woods, who was killed along with Ambassador Chris Stevens and two other Americans who were trying to save the life of the Ambassador.

Prop 38: NO!

Prop 38 is the tax increase initiative that is in direct competition with Governor Brown’s Prop 30. Prop 38 increases personal income tax rates on annual earnings over $7,316 using sliding scale from .4% for lowest individual earners to 2.2% for individuals earning over $2.5 million, for twelve years. During first four years, it allocates 60% of revenues to K–12 schools, 30% to repaying state debt, and 10% to early childhood programs. Thereafter, it allocates 85% of revenues to K–12 schools, 15% to early childhood programs. Prop 38 provides K–12 funds on school-specific, per-pupil basis, subject to local control, audits, and public input and prohibits state from directing new funds. If the CTA and other teachers unions truly cared about their students and schools, then Prop 38 would be the tax increase to support. But their motives are very transparent by supporting Prop 30; it is clear they are “in bed” with Governor Brown. The good news for taxpayers is that the more tax increases there are on a ballot, the less likely it is that any of them pass.

Here is what happens in the unlikely case that both Props 30 and 38 pass. Our state constitution says that if two or more ballot measures conflict, as these two do, the measure that has the most “yes” votes is the one that will go into effect. Prop 30’s language states that if it receives more “yes” votes, then Prop 38 will not go into effect. Prop 38’s language states that if it receives more “yes” votes, then Prop 30 will not go into effect and Governor Brown’s $6 billion trigger cuts to education will take place. Let’s make sure both of these unnecessary tax increases fail!

Larry King hosts third-party faceoff

You’re on the ballot in 40 states, absolutely.” King agreed to moderate the Tuesday event in order to give all the independent candidates “a voice” they’ve been denied thus far in the 2012 campaign, he said. For the independent candidates who have confirmed they’ll attend the Chicago debate — Johnson, Green Party candidate Jill Stein, Constitution Party candidate Virgil Goode and Justice Party candidate Rocky Anderson — this is their sole chance to present their platforms to voters on a major stage.
