President’s Message - October 2008

Ladies and gentlemen, we are in the final stretch of the race and I need your help. The national election is critical and so are our local races. If you can walk precincts, make phone calls, or volunteer at Republican headquarters, please let me know. I need all of you to make the commitment or face the consequences later.

On a lighter note, our speaker this month is the hardest working woman I know. She is in just about every local committee fighting for our rights. Not only is she a full time Realtor, she is a wife, mother and a grandmother. Her roots run deep in Humboldt County. Her family was in the fishing industry and that was decimated due to regulatory decisions made by politicians.
Fishing went the way of timber production.

That’s right! I am talking about Tina Christensen. She is One of Humboldt County’s strongest advocates and ace Cheerleader’s. Eureka’s own Sarah Palin. BY JOY FINLEY

The Four Stages of Conservative Female Abuse

There’s something about outspoken conservative women that drives the Left mad. - Michelle Malkin

It’s a peculiar pathology I’ve reported on for more than 15 years, both as a witness and a target. Thus, the onset of Palin Derangement Syndrome in the media, Democrat circles, and the cesspools of the blogosphere came as no surprise. They just can’t help themselves.

Liberals hold a special animus for constituencies they deem traitors. Minorities who identify as social and economic conservatives have left the plantation and sold out their people. Women who put an “R” by their name have abandoned their ovaries and betrayed their gender. As Republican officeholders and conservative public figures who are women have grown in number and visibility, the progression of Conservative Female Abuse has worsened. The astonishing vitriol and virulent hatred directed at GOP Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is the most severe manifestation to date....

President’s Message - September 2008

Summer is quickly coming to an end and the weather just keeps getting better! I really missed seeing you all in August but we needed to charge our batteries for the upcoming Presidential election. How about our choice for the first Republican Woman Vice President?
Is she hot or what? I am so impressed with her and can’t wait to work on the McCain/Palin campaign. Her acceptance speech was a home run! I am chairman for the Woman’s Coalition for
McCain and am looking for volunteers to phone bank and work for the ticket.

I am excited about this month’s speaker, Haider Agina. I also want to thank Frank Jager for addressing our group last month and was sorry that I had to miss the meeting because of my broken foot. Thanks and kudos to Margaret Stafford for stepping up to the plate.

Hope to see you all at the Red Lion on September 18th BY JOY FINLEY

I know that all of you will be busy working to help elect our Republicans from the bottom to the top of the ticket, but there are a few events of which you should be aware.

The California Federation of Republican Women Fall Conference will be held October 17-19 at the LAX Marriot in Los Angeles. There will be great speakers such as California Republican Party Chairman, Ron Nehring, and Motivational Speaker Terry Paulsen, plus great workshops. This is chance to build your Federation knowledge, learn new skills and meet new friends.

Conference Registration: $155.00 by October 1, 2008, which includes Saturday lunch, Saturday banquet and Sunday breakfast. The hotel rate is $135 and deadline for hotel reservation is October.

In November, Northern Division will hold its Fall Conference the weekend of the 22nd-23rd in
Foster City at the Crowne Plaza Hotel; room rate is $107. More information on speakers will be coming shortly.

I would strongly encourage you to attend both of these events. Both conferences offer outstanding speakers, Federation education, leadership training, and networking with other Republican women.
