Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown wrote an op-ed calling for his fellow Democrats to "stop bashing President Trump."

Brown, a longtime fixture in California politics, said his party may risk having problems in the midterms if they don't let up on the anti-Trump rhetoric.

"It's not going to be easy," Brown wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle on the prospect of Democrats halting their repeated attacks on the president.

"It might even mean checking into a 12-step program," he said.

...This Sunday, under the headline “Let me (or others) say a few words about gossip,” Willie Brown offered yet another prediction involving the 78-year-old governor who must step down in 2018 because of term limits: He’ll run for Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat in two years.

“Word has it that DiFi will announce that she’s not going to seek re-election to the U.S. Senate seat she’s held since 1992,” Brown wrote.

“Instead, she’ll support Gov. Jerry Brown when her term ends in 2019.”...

Hillary Rodham Clinton must be wondering whether she really wants to run for president. Unless there are some serious readjustments to the Democratic operation, she is going to lose.

“He is legitimately a quality candidate,” former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown said of Donnelly. “You may disagree with his views and the types of programs he advocates, but he is a master at talking directly to the voters.”

State Assemblyman and Tea Party conservative Tim Donnelly seems to be bucking the Republican’s downward trend by leading his party in the race, though he’s not rocketing points on the charts against the incumbent candidate, Governor Jerry Brown.

...Neel Kashkari, a genuine moderate Republican, is not much of a candidate, lacking rapport with the people and visibility as someone who can assume power, according to Brown.
He may have the endorsements of Condoleezza Rice and Mitt Romney, but according to Brown, that won’t matter.
