The Obama Administration’s Long History of Shady Surveillance



As the facts about who surveilled whom during the transition get sorted out, it is useful to remember why Trump’s team and his supporters have reason to be suspicious, thanks to a long documented history of Obama using shady surveillance tactics on both political opponents and international allies. Rhodes himself knows this history but that doesn’t seem to matter as he once again attempts to make people believe he fell out of the sky and onto Twitter on January 21st, 2017.

Obama’s Chicago Presidency



...Benjamin Netanyahu apparently bothered President Obama. What could that possibly entail, given the historic alliance between Israel and the United States? From the petty malice of Obama-administration aides leaking slurs that Netanyahu was a coward and chickens–t to the fundamental malevolence of community-organizing Netanyahu’s opponents in an effort to defeat him at the polls to leaking previously classified information about Israel’s nuclear deterrent, the message is again Chicagoan....

During the seven years when Obama faced election, reelection, and two midterm elections, he warned on over 20 occasions that it would be neither legal nor ethical to grant executive amnesties to illegal aliens. What was stunning about his refrain was the high-minded manner in which he disarmed his base by warning them that he could not act unconstitutionally. But once he faced no more referenda on his power, he cared little about polls that showed widespread disapproval of amnesty, and simply began issuing the sort of presidential fiats that he had correctly said he didn’t have the power to issue.

The Right was shocked by the brazen hypocrisy of Obama, who once warned the country of just the sort of renegade president that he proved to be. But that again misses the point. Obama was not embarrassed, but emboldened, by the disconnect, as if to say, “I not only bypassed Congress to issue amnesties, but also refuted my own warnings that to do so would be illegal. And so what are you going about it?” If the speeder goes through a red light with impunity right in front of a parked patrolman, what then do we think of the patrolman, the speeder — and the sanctity of traffic lights? ...

What then is the full Obama presidency? It is the quest for extralegal power not just by ignoring the law, tradition, or custom, but by doing so flagrantly and without concern, to the point of rendering critics impotent — and thereby accruing even more power to enrage and embarrass them. In similar circumstances, the Roman biographer Suetonius noted of the Twelve Caesars that the offense itself was not so much the point, but rather the demonstration of committing the offense with impunity and disdain.

Once that pen-and-phone threshold has been crossed, anything is possible — and even the critics of Obama now belatedly accept that. In brilliantly diabolical fashion, the president of the United States has all but ruined the Democratic party in Congress and the state legislatures, but has also confounded his Republican opponents by not caring a whit about his own nihilism — as if he is supposed to worry about ending the congressional careers of his supposed allies?

New Zeal EXCLUSIVE: Luis Gutierrez, Obama’s Poster Boy for Amnesty, and His Unique Family “Fundraising” Business

◼ Former Chicago Alderman, and now 11-term Congressman Luis V. Gutierrez (D. 4th Dist. IL) is described by one news outlet as a “59-year-old Illinois congressman [who] stands 5 feet 6 inches tall, which is only one reason he got his nickname, “El Gallito” — the little fighting rooster.” - Trevor Loudon/New Zeal

As immigration chairman for the House Hispanic caucus, Gutierrez is fighting hard for a Presidential Executive Order granting amnesty to as many as 5 million illegal immigrants....

Gutierrez’s reputation in Chicagoland’s politics is not untarnished. There’s that sweetheart deal he got from ◼ Tony Rezko in the purchase of a condo for his daughter. There’s the $500,000 plus he paid in taxpayer money over 10 years to a Chicago lobbyist to advise his congressional staff. And, the 2004 allegation that Gutierrez lobbied Mayor Daley for a residential development owned by a man who loaned Luis $200,000. The developer was later federally indicted concerning the same development.

But forget all that – that’s all in the past.

Today, Gutierrez is firmly ensconced in one of the most gerrymandered congressional districts in America. You need a GPS to find its boundaries.

These days, the 4th Illinois District Congressman is making political fund-raising a family business.

In the last eight election cycles, from the 1998 through mid-2014, Gutierrez For Congress raised $2,973,972.

In the last seven races – 2014 is pending – Gutierrez’s opponents have raised a total of $14,192; all of that was collected by his 2012 opponent, Hector L. Concepcion. Concepcion spent all but one dollar of his campaign fund in his 2012 race against Gutierrez. Gutierrez, who received 83% of the vote, spent $383,558 and still had $354,393 cash-in-hand after he won.

Gutierrez won his last seven general elections with an average of 81% of the votes cast.

If Gutierrez repeatedly wins so handily over un- and under-funded candidates, why does he continue to aggressively raise campaign money every cycle?

Hold that thought.

In the last two election cycles, 2010-2012 & 2013-mid2014, Gutierrez For Congress raised a total of $524,452. (All statistics cited herein come from the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) website, www.fec.gov, and from www.opensecrets.org .)

FEC filings for the last two election cycles (2014 is incomplete) indicate that Gutierrez For Congress paid out, over those three-and-a-half years, $173,879 for the position of “Office Manager, Treasurer and Fundraising” for his campaign.

That expenditure represents over 33% of the total campaign donations raised during 42 months into the 2014 cycle.

The “Payee Name” listed on the FEC filings as having received payment as “Office Manager, Treasurer and Fundraising” is Soraida Gutierrez – also known as Mrs. Luis Gutierrez. MORE, at the link.
