Obama Is Nearing His Goal - Quin Hillyer
President Obama wants a crisis. He plans to use a crisis to seize even more power for himself and for the government. Now he is a significant step closer to his goal. Despite his finger-pointing con-job in his nasty press conference this afternoon, Obama is the one who deliberately torpedoed the budget talks. He is the one who has yet to put an actual plan on the table. He is the one who refused to even let GOP negotiators talk. He is the one who insisted through most of the year that no other provisions be attached to the hike in the debt limit... he’s doing it on purpose. He’s doing it because he doesn’t want a deal. Obama blasts GOP, Boehner on debt: ‘We have run out of time’ - The Hill
Obama’s fury toward Boehner was on full display as he several times accused the Speaker of walking away from the talks.
“I've been left at the altar now a couple of times,” Obama said.

The president was angry on a number of counts, but he seemed especially miffed by Boehner's refusal to communicate with him on Friday before he walked away from the table.

Obama said he had a "cordial" relationship with Boehner "up until sometime today when I couldn't get a phone call returned."

Boehner told House Republicans in a letter that President Obama is “adamant” about raising taxes and would not agree to “fundamental changes” to entitlement programs.

“For these reasons, I have decided to end discussions with the White House and begin conversations with the leaders of the Senate in an effort to find a path forward,” Boehner wrote in the “Dear Colleague” letter....

"It's time to get serious. The White House won't get serious, we will."
